Canadian First Robotic Direct Lateral Surgery

In a Canadian first, Team LHSC members performed a robot-assisted spinal surgery that relieved a patient of long-time, debilitating back pain.
Using the MazorX Spinal Robot, Dr. Victor Yang and his team were able to perform a direct lateral spine surgery, completing two surgical procedures on patient Dave Myen at the same time.
“I am excited to get back to my everyday life and some of the things I enjoy and also have a summer that is not full of pain, but rather freedom to do the things I want,” said Myen.
