    This is a good video. One thing to point out though. By using the clamp terminals you have rendered the weather proof gang box not weather proof. Its still pretty water resistant but water can get in around the inside of the clamps where the extension cord enters. They do make terminals that have a rubber grommet inside and clamps down on the cord differently to make this project more water proof.

    Great video. By the way, if that's a metal box, you should add a short length of wire to the bundle of ground wires and secure the other end to the screw terminal on the inside of the box. If a live wire were to come loose and touch the inside of the box, that extra ground connection will carry the current away so that you don't get shocked if you touch the box.

    Good idea, but you need to do 2 things to make this safe:
    -bond those grounds to the metal box with a green grounding screw and another green wire jumper
    -use "CGB" type gland connectors instead of cable clamp connectors - the cgbs will actually keep the box weatherproof.
    But other than that great idea.

    GREAT learning video. I am making a haunted hayride on 13 acres of our woods for the neighborhood kids. I have a lot of props powered by button batteries. I want the tractor front to activate the props so they turn on when the kids are passing by in the trailer. Are there motion sensors powered by button batteries that I can install into a button battery prop? If so, would I be able to use the directions from this video?

    I bought a 7 ft skeleton horse at Home Depot. It has a button in its mouth that you push to make the eyes light up red and it also neighs and winnies at the same time. It is battery powered. Is there anyway to make this prop react to motion. ? It is battery powered.

    Awesome video! Very simple steps and it looks super clean when it's done! I just have a question and it's probably super common sense. But, if you wanted to plug in more than just one prop, say speakers and something else, do you just have to add on another extension outlet and they will all run together? Thanks, again!

    • @UndercoverMonsters

      +Tyler Darling No, you can just plug a power strip into this and everything on the power strip will come on at once.

    This was helpful. I have a project involving a wreath that I would like to use a motion sensor to detect when someone gets within a few feet from to activate a prerecorded audio to so it would involve a sensor, speaker and ability to record. Been looking for a fairly cheap way to accomplish this and still looking. Any thoughts would be great!

      Just get a cheap mp3 player and load that one track on it, put it on a loop. Plug your motion sensor into a power strip so that when it gets tripped it will turn on everything that is plugged into said power strip. (sorry for the response delay)

    the test mode only lasts for roughly 3 seconds.. any way to tweaking that up to or the 1 minute setting down to about 10 seconds? i'm running a monster in a box prop with speakers and lights and 2 seconds just isn't working.

    • @UndercoverMonsters
      @UndercoverMonsters  7 лет назад

    Is there any way rather than connecting the female end and light to the other end of the sensor to connect a 3.5mm mono plug to plug into the back of an animatronic, similar to how a Spirit Step Pad works? It's a momentary closed circuit that triggers the animatronic so this would work perfect if I can get a plug on the end of it instead... ideas?

    • @ChrisSmith-kx2ge
      @ChrisSmith-kx2ge Год назад

      I've been trying to figure this out myself! I'm thinking I need a second power source since the 6V animatronic isn't enough to power the 12V sensor. I did plug it into the foot pad, but nothing is working. Probably underpowered AND wired incorrectly :)

    First of all you have the wrong connectors! Water and or moisture can still get into the box via these connectors! To make your box safe you have to use "Junction Box Outdoor Waterproof Electrical Cable Connector" If water gets inside that electrical box your a dead man!!! Everyone do not use the electrical box connectors this person uses, get the right type. Good Luck.

    Thanks for the video. It works great, but I think I have an issue. I wanted to plug a set of speakers and a strobe light. While testing the sensor with the speakers, the speakers lost power. They don't work at all now, even when plugged into the wall. Do you think the system caused this? The speakers are a few years old.

    • @UndercoverMonsters
