  • In this video I take a look at a number of the fantastic N20 gear motors. Each motor has a different gear ratio, they are 1:50, 1:100, 1:150 and 1:200. I use the screw mechanism on the Liebherr 900 model to compare the different motors to see which best suits a radio controlled excavator.
    The N20 motors were purchased on ebay: rctractorguy.co...

    Hi, Guy.
    Please give me all the characteristics of the latest engine and gearbox.
    Characteristics:
    ?-- rpm ( idling )
    Gear Ratio ?: 1
    ? rpm @ ?V
    Maybe you have a motor marking.
    Thank you so much

    Are limit switches needed to stop the screws from damaging themselves?

    How would i connect one of these motors to a receiver? Is it just a case of fitting a connector plug on the end of the wires and plug it into a receiver channel?

      +Alif Haiqal For this it was a mild steel nail which I tapped to M3 and then soldered copper wire on the other end to attach it to the bucket.

    Whats about small servos? I watch many builds with servos in the arms of small size build excavators like the Volvo ec 460 in 1:32.the speed was smooth and range was nice but i dont know how are the lifting power?

    • @RCTractorGuy
      @RCTractorGuy  8 лет назад

      +crawlervideo Yes servos work on these plastic models like this liebherr and the ec 460. Don't forget that a servo will always be carrying the weight of the boom where as the screw designs aren't loosing power holding up the boom so the batteries should last a lot longer but other than that I don't see any problem with servos.

      Hi, I bought 4 different gearbox ratios 1:50, 1:100, 1:150 and 1:200 that gives me the initial difference in speed but at the end I used a 7.4 volt battery instead of a 3.7 volt battery which gave me a bit more speed. Good luck with your build, looking forward to seeing your work.

    • @RCTractorGuy

      +Ibrahim Khan I made the actuators for this model. I used an N20 motor, some brass standoff for one side and a mild steel nail which I threaded to M3 for the other side.

    Hi, I've watched a few of your videos and have seen the screw mechanism that is used on the arm however haven't been able to locate a seller given that I don't know what it's called. If you could let me know that would be great!

    • @RCTractorGuy
      @RCTractorGuy  9 лет назад

      Linus Opat Well a linear actuator is what it is called but I haven't found commercially available ones small enough for this application yet. That is why I made my own using threaded bar and a brass stand off for this video.

    • @RCTractorGuy
      @RCTractorGuy  9 лет назад

      Linus Opat Also a lot of people use a masonary drill bit instead of the threaded bar because it is faster.

    Small doubt with the specified RPMs, is it for no load condition or max. efficiency condition?
