I think , Filipino food is not really “not healthy”! I’ve been regularly watching your vlogs and I notice you’ve been eating a lot of fast food and drinking a lot of mango based fruit drinks which is really not very healthy.
But those are not really Filipino food …Authentic Filipino food include a lot of fish and vegetables …like pinakbet , bulanglang , sinigang , kare-kare , kinilaw , etc.
Like what you’ve said our “ food “ gets a bad rap but not because it is bad but it’s because of “ what you’ve been eating”.

How can you missed these islands? How?
You don't go to the Philippines and stay in the City -- You should go to the provinces and see the landscapes of the Philippines and interact with locals.
Well, in contrast? All cities all over the world has contrast. Say for example in inner cities of United states, atlanta, baltimore, la, detroit, washington, etc etc etc -- you see people can afford & eating to a fancy restaurants but just a couple of blocks you see thousands of homelessness.
    So contrast is subjective.

Pretty much you will gain weight if you just eat out all the time. The food prepared in a Filipino household is different. I agree, transportation there needs to improve considering the country is composed of thousand of islands. It’s in the culture that you are being matched to women and vice versa, but don’t take it seriously. Most Filipinos still want to marry their own.

Re: Food. Mate you ate most of the times in western restaurants of course you will gain weight. If you ate proper Filipino food you won't (in moderation of course) and I don't mean Jollibee, Chowking etc. I mean have you been to Manam? Locavore, Mesa, Romulo's Cafe also in Makati other good Filipino restaurants like there in your backyard Makati Cosmic Poblacion? (vegan) Have you had Sinigang (fish, shrimp etc) Bulalo, Tinola is one of the healthiest food you can have. Monggo? Ampalaya? Have you had Bicolano Dishes? Dig deeper and you will find good healthtly Filipino food!
How is it that Western countries have high obesity rates and not as much in the PH?
Thing is Filipinos always cook from scratch for their everyday meal so when they go out on the weekend or payday they choose other kinds of food like Korean, Japanese or Western food for a change. They do not eat western or fast food everyday.
    But thanks for your feedback!
Enjoy the next country and PH in August! (just remember that will be the monsoon/rainy season)

He eats those "unhealthy" food and seems to enjoy them too. If you don't do any physical activity to burn those calories, the added pounds would be the result. I bet if he had taken any similar unhealthy food (of which there are many) in the U.S. or anywhere on the planet, he would have gain the same weight in HALF the time. If it isn't for the crazy hot weather and humidity in the Philippines, Zane would have easily double his gain weight.

I hope to see more of your videos in other places. Thank you also for appreciating what we have in the Philippines, as you see around, Philippines is developing much in few time, everything will be fine. By the way, Philippines was part of the USA before from 1898 to 1946 if am not mistaken as the history tells. Americans brought the educational system that we have now, and that's the reason why English is our medium of instructions in school from Elementary to College; although there are some variations of vernacular and Filipino languages but the official language for Government and offices functions is in English. I hope you are at home in the Philippines and you can make it your Second home. Again, welcome, and God bless your way to the next journey!

In tourist spots, it is a given in any country, i think, that foreigners will meet a lot of hawkers... just smile and say "no". Local tourists experience the same thing.

Native food in the Philippines like Sinigang, Nilaga (it's my favorite) Langka, Pakbet, Laing, Monggo. And Many Ginisa dishes etc. (you can seach those) You will find this in Karenderya. Philippines is a developing country, and moving here for good is not easy for a foreigner, you need to ADJUST, ADAPT, and ACCEPT our culture, food, people and weather ( 2 weather hot and very hot 😂) Philippine door is always open to those who wants to explore the country. Another thing Filipino really like to support foreign vloggers. Thank you so much for staying in my beloved country. Be safe and God bless ❤️

    • @miguelbalisi9952

I'd say again with the very hot weather, add to that the slow-paced transactions or dealings with offices or places that you may have not experienced yet, the can be-unbearable rooster noise and the dogs barking in the countryside, are just few of the many negatives that needs tons and non-stop patience from foreigners eyeing to stay in the country for at least a long period of time. This may sound discouraging but it would take away the possible frustration a foreigner may have in the end. I feel your honesty and straightforward review of the Philippines based on your experience. Being honest deserves support more than some vloggers who may have sugar-coated their findings of the Philippines, especially if you don't hear some negatives. But negatives said nicely not in a brutal sense.

It's a matter of KNOWING HOW to read between the lines, and BEING positive, Ruperto, obviously, you took my comment negatively. But this vlogger needs support because HE KNOWS HOW to read between the lines.

The food is not healthy if you go out and eat too much @ Jollibees and McDonalds, instead buy your own food at the local grocer like I do. I make fresh crab tacos, fresh languini with fresh clams from the market and fresh spaghetti with local jumbo prawns from the open market and do a bit of fish wraps too on Wednesdays. Yes, most of our Filipino recipes are unhealthy and I try to stay away from them, sometime I do make taco lechon though, man these are the bomb!! See there are ways to eat healthy here, just need to stop eating at restaurants. GL!

As a Filipino living in Europe i have the freedom to choose the kind of food i want to consume, may it be healthy or not it is up for me to decide. You said that most Filipino food is unhealthy, well maybe they are (you'll find them all over the world). And when you are body conscious you should take your hands off them and maybe pick the lighter ones. Americans love to eat burgers and fries and they're maybe unhealthy to some but who cares? Nobody forces anyone to eat them. We only live once and we must enjoy it to the fullest, regardless of what we eat.

It's true. Food not so healthy. My sisters came home for just two weeks and I grew fat right away cause I was eating all the time. I think if you want healthy food you're just gonna have to prepare it for yourself. There's not really a lack of ingredients for healthy food as there are wet markets that you can go to and buy vegies and non pork meats. There was a couple vloggers here during the pandemic who had decided to stay in Siargao since it was too expensive at that time to get out of the country. They've maintained being lean and slim during their stay because they cooked for themselves. They went to the market themselves to do their groceries. They didn't rely on others to take care of them that's why they were eating healthy foods all the time.

Thanks for your honest review. I guess you haven't tried the more healthy food alternatives just like what moms prepare for their families. Consisting more of green vegetables, chicken, fish, etch. As for cheap and expensive it depends on where you are. I think you might have to explore more if you are planning to comeback. Like what they say "If you're in Rome do what the Romans do"
In every country there are a lot more contrasting background and issues but good luck in your next trip.

You have to put the chicken oil in chicken or rice. And you dip it in soy sauce with calamansi.

You are right about the food being not so healthy for westeners especially if you don't go to the gym but for locals if you notice theres not many obese people there that means the food is mainly suitable for locals due to them sweating a lot due to humid weather whereas tourist stay in aircondituined room most of the time.
