spent over an hour on this level, couldn’t find a single thermal vent, got all the way to the oblivion portal and checked this guide, only to find out that i’d somehow missed every single vent 😂 really enjoying the remaster, though. it’s amazing to play this game with a good frame rate

This level is extremely hard, and you make it look ..... piece of cake
because he is playing it on... piece of cake difficulty. Notice how a hit from a spider takes only 1 of his health, which is rediculous
@@renatozuma3712 Actually, he's playing on the highest difficulty. Spiders just don't do squat for damage, least threatening enemies in the game. They take 1/3rd of an hp per hit on easier difficulties.
@@filou13 My spiders must be on steroids then because they take 10 hp from me last time I checked.
No he makes the level look harder. His aim sucks even by old school shooter standards.

28:00 - Here's the detour you have to make to reach the 1st Vent, right after finding the Satchel
I just played this entire game again, for probably the dozenth time. This level honestly isn’t all that bad, besides having only 2 save points and taking around 3 or so hours to complete (if you know what you’re doing and you’re a good shot). It’s mainly all the backtracking once you have the feather and the underwater maze that can get confusing. I recommend turning up the brightness a bit, it will help see paths and switches on dark walls. Be sure to keep your map on the entire time in the underwater maze, you will easily memorize it. As for the first two vents you gotta look for them! The last is in plain sight...
Jeremy Dixon the saves don’t bother me, I’m pretty much used to it because of this level. Once you’ve played it enough, it’s not all that bad. It is quite the time waster though.
This level IS that bad if by the 12th time you get that feeling.
The level is confusing, the save points are too far apart, when the blind ones run makes the N64 fall to about 5-10. And you can get stuck easily.
So Stephen King's The Mist happens when a Turok player doesn't seal all the vents and allows the blind ones to escape

DOES exist a confirmed bug at this level: 1:03:46 This section is originally intended to be accessed from a door that has a Full Health (as in this video) just outside it and is unlocked by killing surrounding enemies. However, it is possible to get there by falling into that section from the stone bridge that is behind the second key in the game (just in 57:30) (and not even farfetched or unappealing, it is very orthodox to fall there). In that section it is essential to have a key to open the next door and it is possible to get there without keys. There is a solution if (i) you arrive without a key, but by the path that was intended by the programmers (you can return to look for the key), or (ii) if you arrive by falling from the stone bridge, but with the key .. If you get there WITHOUT a key and from the stone bridge, you can only get out of there by committing suicide. If you get there with 0 life back up and it saves there, the game becomes impossible.
It's amazing the magnitude of error for a game that has so much quality control in other aspects.
But the most incredible thing is that I have investigated in forums and RUclips and it seems that I am the only person who knows about this bug, being too obviously.

cerebral bore was one of my favorite guns in turok. such a fucking deadly contraption, lol.
Definitely my favorite level of the entire game! I loved the mysterious atmosphere of the caves with the excellent music, the unleveled terrain, the water cascades, the primitive wooden constructions, everything.
And the fact that it was maze-like made it a real challenge. If you just run around looking for enemies to shoot it will probably be a nightmare, but if instead you get to know the level and keep track of the places you have been to, it is not that difficult and the level becomes an absolute pleasure.
A tip for the underwater maze: draw a map and label it! Once you figure out the maze, you will make up excuses to revisit it.
I hated this level. I'm terrible at navigation and it took me forever to find all of the vents.
I still can't believe someone would love this obnoxious, frustrating, rage inducing level. I despise it. Nothing but an annoying maze of constantly getting lost and running in circles.
To each his own I guess lol. I prefer almost any other level.

Even in the remaster by Night dive studios where some of the level geometry was modified, this level is still a beast to beat. I'm suprised i got all the objectives on the first try.

Supposedly not, but as i've never played the original Turok 2 i can't say where it's been modified. Even then it's not enough to make the levels feel all that different.
Jojje4567 I still found Hive of The Mantids to be much harder than LOTBO. The Hive has enemies that do crazy amounts of damage and is long and confusing. Easily the hardest level in the game.
My favorite level, had loads of fun blowin 'em to bits with the double barreled shotgun :) great game

32:23, underwater cave system. Suppose any other weapon down there would make it more difficult and dangerous if you need to survive. Torpedo launcher is the winner, getting the edge.

where is the 3 termal vents? i found two but i dont know is the third thermal vent
The entrance to the first one is right next to one of the several bridges you cross over the waterfalls, after the first save portal.
The entrance to the second one is in one of the exits to the underwater maze. It looks exactly like the main exit to the maze, which lets you move on in the level.
To get to the third one, in the area where the second and last save portal is, you must go all the way down, as down as you can, reach the only tunnel that is there and continue through that path until the very end. He does this in the video at 50:25
Was playing this along side the remaster for the ps4 for full nostalgia and everything was the same until about 50:00 to 60:00 roughly. I dont know why they felt they needed to re-design that whole entire section completely. Genuinely makes me wonder if i missed level 5 keys because of this rework so looks like ill possibly have to go over the level again with a remaster walkthrough if i dont find them soon. I also dont know why they got rid of the iconic run sway with the weapons for a more " stoic doom guy" weapon sway, its these little changes that make people dislike re-masters, like when we say we want a remake we mean just update the graphics to the latest, not gut our memories lol. I know the entire 64 maps like the back of my hand studying the maps as a child because i had the desire to beat the game better and faster than my dad and they go throw a whole ass monkey wrench like that into the last 20 mins of the level 🤦♂️
Music is brilliant at setting the mood, too bad the PC version cuts it too short.

how do you activate the feather in this level?
Just played through this level on the remastered version for the first time and didn't really get lost at all. It's kinda straightforward, just continue forward and try to do everything at one floor before jumping down to the next. Make a mental note of every path you had to ignore and then make a second run throught the whole level from the start. The second run is just to clear things you missed (I only missed the first war portal). Really easy if you ask me. Never used the map either.
Unless they severely dumbed down the level, I don't see peoples issue with the level.
They actually did make it simplier in the remaster, a big deal. Original version was much more confusing and well, I absolutely loved that for some reason.

@@svarthar Quite obviously their intention was for Turok remaster to match modern standards as much as possible without tossing out the spirit of the game and they did so splendidly. Nonetheless the original version is a completely different experience and with that comes increased difficulty. I strongly recommend to finish the original source at least once.

Wish there was an indepth change guide between turok 2 n64 and remaster. Lair looks so much different to me, but it could be the distance fog lol.
I am having trouble at 13:59. It's those floating triangular rocks. I miss landing on them and fall down to the waterfall. I was trying to get that feather. What to do?
There's a teleporter in the water in the room below that will take you back so you can try again.

Man I use to hate this level. They layout was confusing and it felt like it took way to long to get through, same as the River of Souls level. Also the level was bland and boring.
