    Love it! The next amp could be called the Dr. Z Cannoli. I'm pretty sure it would be someone's Dessert Island amp.

    If Dr. Z decided to build an analog solid state amp, I would pre-order it immediately. Mike and the gang aren't just tube amp experts, they are tone wizards.
    Love my Z! Wish I owned a couple more of the models since every Z I've ever played has been fantastic.

    Finally? Who wants a Z SS. I’ve owned a Red EZG 50 and Red Z-Best, a Monza 1/10Combo Cream with Airbrake, and I still own my Carmen Ghia Head, and Cream Dr. Z 1/12 Combo Cabinet. That Ghia ain’t goin anywhere. Happy New Year from Westlake.

    I respect your commitment to manufacturing in the USA. All things equal, I like supporting hard-working folks here in my country, knowing that I'm supporting labor and supporting the next generation of people who use their hands to make things. Nothing against anyone working overseas or anything, but it just makes a little prouder seeing 'Made in the USA' on things I buy.

    So pleased you've been making your designs with human hands right here in Cleveland, Ohio ~ It sure would be a thrill to tour your shop and see the craftsmen working to build the products in many of your videos! I don't have anything solid state except pedals. My one and only amplifier is an EL34, 35 Watt Twin Combo. I'd be proud to own one of the Dr. Z's that you've designed. Tube type designs are the best for my tastes. These days I want less and Less from the Asian markets, I'm sure you understand why ! God Bless you Dr. Z

    I own three of your amps, the Z Wreck, the DB4 and a Maz 18. I've played guitar for 62 years and when I saw that someone had asked you about making solid state amps all I could say was "Nooooooooo!!!!

    Funny enough, I have a VERY nice solid state new production Hiwatt that uses traditional iron. It really sounds great! I agree though, redesigning a tube circuit for waaay lower voltages to work via transistors and diode clipping, while still retaining "the sound" is a big bag a worms few even in the big leagues (Marshall, Vox, Orange, and now Hiwatt) have managed to attain with any level of grace.

      I have added Fets to some of my designs, done hybrid amps but even after thousands of hours with every type of amps nothing sounds like tubes. I have even worked with the Nutube from Korg, bit that is a real tube

    I still have my 1974 MusicMan 12/Sixty-Five, which is hybrid solid state preamp/ 6CA7 tube amp. This thing is super dependable, fat, punchy, clean AND LOUD. Which means it has a lot of head room for lower volume full frequency work. Excellent pedal platform. It’s hand wired by Leo and George’s crew… Something to think about Dr. Z??

    • @kevin2960
      @kevin2960 Год назад

      They can have problem, especially the early ones that run el34. 750 plate voltage on modern tubes is a no no. But they sound fantastic clean

    Vox doesn’t use negative feedback in their tube amp circuit’s, hence it’s rich harmonic content and chime. 🎸🇺🇸

    Welp, I attempted to build a Rt 66 out of a Rauland Borg PA but got thwarted by the transformers. They used WEIRD ones! Plus I realized the 66 had an UL OTX after tearing out the old components,lol! Happy ending,tho! I ordered a ToneClone Princeton Reverb PTX with a 50v tap and had a 20 watt Hammond OTX on hand so I built a Z28 with an augmented bias circuit and balance pot! Works GREAT!! One of the BEST sounding amps I’ve ever played,if I do say so…;-). The tone stack is truly brilliant,Doc. I’m doing a Ghia as soon as I can source a cheap Ao35!! Oh yeah, those winged C Ef86’s really ARE pretty good. Even the B-stock ones that aren’t expensive. I can’t say they’re any worse sounding than the vintage Mullards I have.

    I had to sell my MAZ 18 MKii during the covid era. I'm still not over it by a long shot. I did manage to get a used Carr which is too polite but I still long for my MAZ.

    i realy like your comment build in us,abasultly ,love and employ your own people,i dont know if you liked donald trump, but America first,i agree with,im British i tryed one of your maz 18 mk1
    Yesterday, i played in bands for 30 years,then had an accident and couldet play for years,but i have now got playing again,i have spent the last year trying amps fender hand wired,shur,tone king etc,the only amp i have pluged into and fallen in love with is your maz 18 it felt right,and responded to my playing,it was like my old amps,i tried it side by with tone king sky king the king was nice but a bit sinthetic ,i felt like my guitar my hands and your amp were having a conversation, so now i have to deside should i px my 67 sg and get £400, back to get you amp
    even second hand its quite dear, but i probably spent more on petrol [gass] than the amp costs
    love you amps, graham. Ps have a hug fro me and carol,

    I like my koch jupiter (hybrid) what about a sort of pre amp designed to pair with an aftermarket pedalboard amp. I mentioned my kock because it seems to be a lil tube amp into a solid state. Output

    even though it may be typical for solid state amps to be built in an inferior manner I think the question is more along the lines of would you consider building a solid state amp of quality hand wired status? E.G. your proper construction.

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Год назад

      Maybe this wasn't totally answered specifically, but the answer is no. Stocking/storing the build materials/components, time to R&D, then train on how to build would make it not cost effective for us nor the customer, and you would wind up with a $2000 dollar solid state amp that would have a very, very niche audience.

    • @crilf5830
      @crilf5830 Год назад

      Wouldn’t that be a viable option for a certain audience that might actually expand your business horizons or maybe not profitable?
