    Love it. I'm still running 5.1 but hopefully going to be coming into some money within a year and plan to upgrade the projector from hd to 4k, upgrade my receiver to 7.2, add a rear center speaker, and get a custom screen instead of showing it on the wall of my family room.

      when my family built our second home back in '04 my parents finished the basement and used the space underneath the sunroom for a theater room and the projector cost a whopping 8 grand! and this was the days before HDMI so it's totally obsolete now. I had lots of fun down there over the years with my friends and girlfriends lol and we moved out about 5 years ago we left it behind but I know I put thousands of hours on it and never had to change the bulb

    I have the same one, after about 8 months of use the polarized lens inside was toast, purchased a couple sheets of polarized lenses and replaced the sheet on the glass. About the 4th time within a year, the glass was broken. I also 3d printed a form for an extra cooling fan to help air flow. On my second projector after the first died after a year of use. Awesome. I remember doing this too back in the day. Had a whole movie theater in my bedroom. That was the theme. It was all centered around my projector that I found at a bargain. Made my entire bedroom look like an old 1920s movie palace, equipped with a mini popcorn machine, decorated the trim with literal 35mm film from my projectionist job at the time (the movie theater I worked at would throw out movie trailers and such in the trash), decorated with framed lightboxes and movie posters, walls were painted a maroon with gold accents, and I had full surround sound. God I miss that bedroom.

    • @galacticwarlock2271
      @galacticwarlock2271 Год назад +7

      Same here minus the popcorn stand... I had a nice projector got it on discount for like 40% off and it was at least 2500 lumen so it was like having a movie theater. I deco'd with parachute silks to keep light out and give a cloud like feel and had just my bed and a couch set up like a theatre. It was the best money I ever spent.
      I am a film major so for me that was absolute heaven. I would watch everything there sometimes I would spend a whole day there watching Samurai flicks and Felinni or Traffaut. Sin City, 400 Blows, Yojimbo also Halo 4v4 was awesome!
      I miss that era.

      @@galacticwarlock2271 DUDE.... I was a film major as well! Lol And Sin City was the first Blu-ray I ever got! 5 dollars at the bin at Walmart and it was the first movie I watched on the projector. I baptized that projector with Sin City. Lol I'll never forget the experience and panic attack I had watching Enter The Void in full HD right after I had just smoked. But man.... It was an experience in my room. Full surround sound, the screen covered the wall, and I'd just lie in bed watching movies and series. And when I got my PS4 when it came out, fuggetataboutit! I'd play Arkham and really feel like Batman observing Gotham below on this ginormous screen that covered the entire wall. And as you can imagine, being a film major and working as a projectionist, watching free movies all day and sometimes a week or 2 before release, it was heaven. I miss those days. If only it'd pay more, I'd never do anything for the rest of my life. Lol Good times.

      And obviously the experience would be much better in the night. I own a projector and recently bought a TV.
      The projector is good for movie nights but the TV is good for convenience. Plus there are some things that you'd love to view on a big screen not there are a few things where you watch to have the best crystal clear quality and the deepest darks and best HDR performance. That's where the TV comes in.

    I started with a thrown out projector from work that had been dropped, but it still worked. That got us started with the whole Projector thing. When that one died it was not worth fixing and it was Covid we were stuck at home when not working so we picked up. 4k Optoma this we are still currently running. But since our apartment block as just being renovated and this ment some time in a temporary apartment. We have rethought our living room out now we want the screen in a different place. So this means a new screen and maybe a short throw Projector. As for sound yes most projectors now come with built in speakers but you still need to use external speakers or a good sound bar to maximise your audio playback.

The tint does a awesome job blocking the UV from coming in😊
    Little homework goes along way. Yes slight downsides. I've had a 65 inch led 4k tv and it burn out incredibly fast. I've had my cheapo projector playing ps5 games even and no issues. Its set at 102" Anyway enjoy your projectors!!

    You can hook your phone up to it too (Some projectors with a cord and some with blutooth and I think wifi). You can put SD cards in it as well so whatever movies and pictures you want to view or watch from those you can watch right on your wall. For apartment complexes, just because you put a nail hole in the wall does not mean you do not get your security deposit back. Nail holes are expected. And if they try to not give you that money back" you can look it up". It goes for all states. No big holes, thumbtack is okay ,nail is holes is okay ,. As long as you're putting something on the wall that is expected and they cannot take your security deposit because of it. It's a law and if they do, go ahead and sue them.

    it’s not gonna be closely satisfying to a TV. It’s a vonkyo projector for those who are wondering the brand name and it’s about $160. Now for $160 she is talking about great picture quality and sound on top of that she is projecting on the wall, if this projector is any good which I don’t believe it is at-least it needs a screen. And then need to be sourced from you computer or a laptop obviously. May be need a bluetooth speaker because I highly doubt the sound quality of the speaker. After all that it’s only capable of 1080p. Every-time you’re gonna turn this thing on, it has to be pitch dark. Basically don’t believe every shit they tell you on internet.

      I disagree, I bought a budget projector and it's the best purchase I've ever made. It projects a massive image that's clear enough for movie use and far cheaper than a tv. Blackout curtains with a projector, a smart box and good speakers are still a fraction of the price of a massive tv, with little discernable difference at a decent viewing distance. This is the only time I'd say believe what you see on the internet!

    I love projectors more than tv's because you can get a bigger picture at a cheaper price. I bought a projector for $340 used, and it uses 5400 lumens. I can make the picture absolutely enormous, and image quality isn't affected. You can use it outside for a big movie night. I watch TV in the dark anyway, so why not just have a projector. I thought about asking a local church with a basketball gym if I could use the projector inside for a birthday party. It would be amazing and cost way less than taking the whole family to a public movie theater or just using the side of the house. I am never going back to a tv. If you're wondering what projector I have, here you go. It's a pt-ez580 PANASONIC. It's not bad for its age and does better than most projectors with less light today. You can make the image several feet wide and several feet tall, and it will give you a big image size close to a public movie theater. I tested it in the backyard, and this thing shines.
