Absolutely, positively, beautiful! So peaceful that I'd love to live there. Thanks for sharing your experienced hand in watercolors. I'm very happy I caught this demo, even though it's nearly 5yrs old. Your painting is timeless. Best wishes from NC, USA
Annyira szeretnivaló az összes képe,hogy nem gyözök betelni vele. A témák is nagyon tetszenek. Sokat tanultam abból, ahogy bemutatja a képek festését. Köszönöm,hogy láthattam mindezt. Nagyon boldog Karácsonyi Ünnepeket kívánok Önnek és Családjának.Üdvözlettel Juli
Alan, your paintings of the old mill really work well. Seeing them both together illustrates how the different techniques can be used. They are both wonderful. Your building groups always intrigue me. They look as if someone could step out of one of them at any moment. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, and I pray that your health improves. Do take care of yourself.
Absolutely fantastic. I am just beginning to use water colour, and watching your demonstration is almost like sitting with an old friend. No airs or graces, but a man going about his business endeavouring to teach other people the delights of this medium. One of the few times I have seen someone sketching with the brush rather than the pencil. It is all done so well that I already feel some of the pressure of endeavouring to achieve something on paper, without too many mistakes, already receding. I look forward to practicing on my own whilst watching your videos. So once again many thanks With a basic 12 colours and four brushes I hope to achieve glory :-)
Thank you for coming up with another lovely original painting Alan , I like them both very much , I may be a tad biased towards the pen and wash but having said that I like the more looser style of the first one , so cant have a favourite, I like them both for different reasons....Can I take this opportunity to wish both you and your lovely wife a very happy Christmas , and may you both enjoy better health in the year ahead, X
Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas from all of us here in Mississippi! My grandchild love your voice. Jasmine age 7 says she wants to paint just like you! I love the way you did the sky! it was so cheery in feeling. love it! I love your brushes. Mine doesnt move the way yours do but then mine are Cottman so they are synthetic.
And here's the lucky owner of this painting. 😊 It's absolutely beautiful, I really love it! We'll take it to the shop to get it framed. I can't wait. Thanks again, Alan!
Amazing work as always, Alan!Would be possible for you to do a small series of objects, such as trees, buildings and give some perspective tips?I often make people too big or too small and the depth is lost... trees in distance and nearby are also a huge problem and all ends up looking flat and lifeless. Also, could you talk a little about paint strength and water amount, as I struggle to make it dark for the shadows every time.Thank you so much for you work and for posting it
Alan It always amazes me how you paint without drawing your composition first! - You just boldly begin and off you go. Watching your creations are fascinating...and I always look forward to your comment, "that'll do." Wishing you a colorful Christmas and New Year. Looking forward to more instructions from you in 2015.
Not necessarily - depends on the artist. Some professionals will wet first, but many others use the 'dry' technique for skies. At the end of the day it's down to personal preference; personally I use both techniques.

Alan Owen sorry didn't mean to butt in......I misread Mick's comment thinking he said "IT IS ALWAYS BEST" instead of "IS IT ALWAYS BEST"......
