As a guppy keeper my self, I suggest you put some fast growing aquarium plants in the tank, like elodea densa or something like that. The plant doesn’t need a lot to grow. It will even grow when it’s just floating on the surface in the tank, but then the fry have a place to hide and it will provide extra oxygen. The parents can start eating the fry when they are just born.
Definitely a good point here, we had male and female guppies not breeding and a year went by; still no fry. I was talking to my Uncle who has been fish keeping for 20 plus years and he said this same point. We added some variety’s of Vallisneria plants to our tank and after just a few months our 40 gallon breeder is full of beautiful fry.
I’m a guppie keeper and I suggest get a little fish net to scoop them and you should also put something in the tank to help their stress levels. The ratio for guppies to not fight over females and males is 2 females to 1 male. I hope my guppie information helps.
Once the babies are born, maybe try adding plants or spawning mops so they don't get eaten (guppy grass is the ideal plant, you can float it and it grows like crazy). Also, I don't know if you knew this, but don't buy any more males! Males are ALWAYS chasing females around and sometimes they can get so stressed they could die. 3 females for 1 male is the ideal amount. I keep guppies too and there's about 3 females, 25 female babies that grew big enough or hid well enough to not get eaten, and only a single male, yet they still breed like rabbits.
i was expecting you to say "just kidding" after you said gizmo jimmy and tuco died but you didnt :(( rest in peace to gizmo, jimmy, and tuco. you will forever be missed 😔
Thank you for sharing about the loss! This happened a few months ago to me, where I very suddenly lost 2 out of 3 goldfish that I'd had in a very similar setup for about 2 years. It was quite frustrating, and I felt like I was doing everything as best as I could. It's encouraging to know that these things can just happen from time to time, and I'm not the only one!
Hey Luke! I would suggest you to keep the guppies in a smaller tank with the Pothos, you can keep mollies with them as well, viewing from the side will help you to appreciate the colors even more. the 300 gallon tub is an overkill. provide tons of hiding spaces for the guppy fry.
Hey Luke, I just wanted to say I love learning about fish and fishkeeping especially as a person working in a zebrafish lab. Fish are way cooler than I thought they were.
A tip for getting small fish into your tank without the bag water, have a net over a bucket and pour them into that, then you can move the fish to the tank without adding the bag water.
If a famale guppy is pregnant get something you can put for the fry bc if there perents is hungry they gonna eat there own fry and they can reproduce 30-70 fry i know this bc im a guppy breeder >ω
I remember my American friend was looking for some fish for his tank at that time I started watching this goldfish guy's videos i recommend him to buy some goldfish from him and he still thankful for it saying this guy provides a great customer service
Hey Luke I suggest that you can use guppy grass or hornwort this are the best for me if your breeding guppy in that big tub they grow so fast and make good hiding spot for baby guppies or you can make a big breeding cage
eeeh... she seems nice and this was sweet. I have mixed feelings about her because she continues breeding her main line of guppies without culling despite how many blind ones that lineage throws. at least with three different lines in the tub that might get downplayed in genetics here! not sure how they'll sell, mixed and all, but with as much interest as you paid the feeder ones its worth it just for the experience!
Friendly reminder :If your planning to sell guppies dont mix them with the cheap ones Good reminder :if you wanna breed put hornwort, cabomba or guppy grass.
Love the Salvinia, if I get a floater whenever I get a tank that’ll be a good choice. I love ferns in general. Or I might just grow a Pothos in the tank with the roots submerged and leaves above the water.
Hi luke based on my experience on guppy breeding, glass belly and albino guppies are the most "hard to keep" guppies i recommend a separate tanks for the babies before some males ate their babies. Goodluck on your guppy journey!
I was wondering about that as well but was going to re- watch in case I missed him putting them in separate tanks. I'm very confused. I would have expected Luke to know this. 🤷🏼♀️
if you look up unboxing after that, its his video of getting them in, he got them sent to him from jimmy goldfish for free, when he moved into his home!
Hey Luke I'm so happy you're getting guppies, they're awesome. However, this video stressed me out because you put different breeds together. It's like putting celestial goldfish with black moors with ranchus and orandas and breeding them. Your breeds are pure and you don't want to lose that or the guppies will loose all of their value. Next, I share your desire to see a million guppies in there but it won't happen. All the babies will get eaten by the adults if they don't have anywhere else than salvinia roots to hide. They need a lot of plants or Java moss for example. Finally, if you want to start in the guppy industrial breeding, I'd recommend checking out Dexter's world videos on the subject because he has a technique to make it easy and very efficient. Anyway, I'm glad that you're discovering other fish.
@@XYZB0RG Yes exactly, but you don't have to do it manually with guppies, you can breed the adults in baskets and the babies will fall in the hole to go in the tank under.
Guppies are super fun. I had some flame endlers until I had to move. I sold them. I had to separate males from females because they just had babies like little rabbits. When I received them, they had babies in the bag.
You maybe need to add some spawning mobs in there. Because if you have babies and they don’t have anything to hide in, they’re gonna be eaten by the parents.
i recommend adding some fake bushy plants in a corner for when they breed because guppies eat their young and it makes the breeding process a lot easier
love fish4ever so much! but lil question.... if they breed together.. wont there be a mix mash of diff variations? there's a chance that they'll become pretty ugly over time frm having genes mixed together right? at least thats what i expect
Tank is amazing.... But I would keep a single strain of guppies in a tank to avoid cross breeding. Guppies do give birth during shipment or under stress. It would be easier to tell which babies belong to which parent.
Whod’ve thought that Luke finding a dug-up snapping turtle nest in his front yard would lead to him deciding to start breeding a whole other species of fish
I kept guppy before and i think that you should keep them at smally place like 20liters so that they will breed easie. Then you put them in this tank when the population is more
Luke my dude, thats too big of a tub for 6 guppies, for guppies most breaders use smaller aquariums, after they had a buch of babies and they grow a bit they move them to tubs or ponds
Ive just got a group of 5 female snow white guppies currently looking for males online. I use floating water wisteria, hornwort, salvinna and tons of java moss. Mine are currently in quarantine.
That's awesome can't wait to see the guppie journey and can't wait to see the amazing guppies u create , I heard guppies can mix with Molly's if it true that hybrid be cool. You should buy multiple different color and pattern guppies and mix together
Buy some algae wafers! lukesgoldies.com
Hi
Also just so you know there should be a 1 male to 2 female ratio
Wait are you joking about gizmo and then 😭
Yummy algae wafer
Just a heads up, you should probably delete from 1:20-1:28, get rid of the packing slip @lukesgoldies

I suggest putting in spawning mops to keep the babies safe for max breeding efficiency!
With some hornwort and java moss.
Plants work the same
@@Snakue but they decrease nitrate levels so ye
@@Snakue I know, but spawning mops will usually help even better. Pretty much worth it since it barely costs anything
@@hanneskills never tried it but nice!
I recommend maybe putting a log or rock in there to give the guppies some shelter, it may help with stress level and comfort
I hope they do amazing!!
I agree, this will also help the females escape the males every once in a while.
Ahh! Actually so sad about Jimmy! I just sent the video of their unboxing to a friend! 😭

An epic crossover
So cool seeing you grow your business over the years 😊
Great video Luke, it’s good to see fish-tubers collaborating
Lol fish tubers
This has to be one of if not the best collaboration I've seen. Looking forward to the updates about them and I wish you good luck
