Gratz on the 705. Got mine about 2 years back now. Expensive, but one hell of a radio. Got it for pota specifically as apartment life ... well not good for nornal HF operations. I sincerely hope you have a lot of fun working that radio, as its treated me well. 73 de kd9tea
Hi David, congratulations on your 705! I got a mint used one about 3 months ago. Were all those contacts on 20m and 15m? I have your whip but I confess I haven’t used it in action yet. I have build the higher band coil need to finish the other. I have set a goal for myself to do a sota activation qrp walkie talkie style ax1 or similar. Got it in today. Mounted 20m Whip on ICOM 705 and went to front yard. FIRST CALL, I worked WB4DKU in Florida (700 miles - not bad!), received RST 56! It’s a little wobbly, but performs great! I am curious about the metal tab below the coil - with a hole drilled in it? 73, David, WR4N
Prinzipiell schon cool, aber an einem Tag wo Contest ist , ist es auch keine große Kunst. Wenn die fetten Player am Start sind, wird man auch mit einem feuchten Schnürsenkel gehört. Viel interessanter wäre eine Aktivierung damit zu machen
David, I just ordered your antenna to use with my ICOM 705. I’m super excited! QUESTION: For times when I want optimal performance, would connecting a counterpoise wire to the 705 mic hanger screw work okay???
Impressive setup. As the radio is plastic, perhaps some kind of bracket to support the antenna might be a good idea. Many thanks for the video.

I will do a trip end of August together with Manuel DL2MAN. We will activate ON Belgium SOTA
