Just gorgeous Liz! But all your ideas are. Was your cake covered with fondant or buttercream! Can we do this process on either ? I’m thinking the Fondant would make a better canvas.
@@EvilCakeGeniusChannel so you couldn’t answer the question just because she got your name wrong? I mean there’s not even any links to explain anything is it it butter cream Is it fondant? What products for used and where did you get them? there’s like nothing no info what’s the point?
fondant :) But it would work on crusted buttercream as well. Here's a page on our site more stenciling info: evilcakegenius.com/acrylic-cake-stenciling
We now have a wonderful gold royal icing mix that can be used with our acrylic and mesh stencils, no alcohol needed: evilcakegenius.com/gold-royal-icing
That is tulle fabric, which is a very fine mesh. It works well to hold the stencil edges in place so the airbrushing doesn't get underneath. You can find it in most craft stores in the wedding section. We buy it in spools that are 6" tall, perfect for a cake!
Place the stencil on the cake first, then the mesh over top of it to hold the stencil edges in place. You can use this same technique on a set-up buttercream iced cake.
There are special recipes for buttercream that incorporate high-melting-point fats such as shortening or paramount crystals, that help keep the buttercream stable at higher temperatures. This is the one we use: Summer Buttercream Recipe: 20 oz butter 3lb Powdered Sugar 6 TBS milk 1/2 tsp flavoring 4 oz Paramount Crystals Melt the paramount crystals until liquefied and let cool to room temperature. Beat butter until creamy, add sugar, milk and flavoring. Slowly drizzle in paramount with the beater moving or the paramount will clump up.
Thanks for the question! That is tulle fabric, which can be found in most craft stores! It holds the edges of the stencil tight and keeps any airbrush spray or royal icing from sneaking under the edges of the stencil!
I have the new Dinky doodle airbrush, are you able to attach the jar to the newer model like you did in this video? I have the hardest time getting the gold to spray in the newer version.
The gold powder is not edible, but it is non toxic. Also, we just came out with a new gold royal icing mix that is edible! : ) evilcakegenius.com/gold-royal-icing-mix.html
@@EvilCakeGeniusChannel just curious as I'm new enthusiast in cake decorating, why do you use non edible gold for cake decorating if if the cake is for eating. Does that mean that we have to inform people who eat the cake , to pick away the fondant when eating ?
You can get the stencil here: evilcakegenius.com/index.php/seamless-lattice-stencil-968.html and we sell a great airbrush here: evilcakegenius.com/index.php/equipment-supplies/dinkydoodle-airbrush-supplies.html
This is our gold powder: evilcakegenius.com/gold-powder.html mixed with vodka and airbrushed over the velvet burnout stencil. Tulle fabric is used to hold the stencil edges down and keep the gold from going under the edges.
+Sandra “Sannys-Tortenspitzen de” Burmeister The fabric you see there is tulle. You can get it at any craft or fabric store! It helps keep the stencil tight on the cake.
+Sandra “Sannys-Tortenspitzen de” Burmeister The tulle is a little trick that we discovered several years ago when using other acrylic stencils. When wrapping the stencil around a round cake, little bits of the stencil would pop up away from the curve causing the Royal Icing to smear underneath it. One day, the Evil Cake Genius, in a moment of desperation, put a stencil on a tier and grabbed a piece of tulle netting to stretch over the stencil. It held the stencil perfectly flat along the curve of the cake, and we've never looked back! You can find tulle in any craft or fabric store. We get ours in the Wedding area, where they sell convenient 6" wide spools. You can use this method with any acrylic stencils. It has saved us tons of cakey mishaps!! Our mesh stencils already have a fine fabric backer, so they do not require the use of the tulle.
thank you, this gave me a better idea on how to stencil cakes the fastest effective way
Oh my god this is just stunning
Wow. Looks like wallpaper.
OMG!!! I AM GOING TO DO THIS.
This is great ... but what is that plastic wrapper placed on the stencil... ?
It's put on the back side and top of the cake, so the over-spray from the airbrush doesn't get on the top or back
Awesome stencil
Do you have trouble with clogging using metallic colors and how do you avoid or remedy it?

Does that technique works with any airbrush, or it will get clogged?
It has always worked for us with our various airbrushes, but you would have to test it in your own.

Why do you put tile on top?
It's put over the stencil to help hold the small intricate stencil pieces in the design flat against the cake.
Which airbrush do you use?
+Shivani Kapoor We use a Paasche airbrush and we love it!
Para qué se usa el tuld? y que pasaría si no se usa?
