Pork Chops, Potatoes, Cabbage, and Sausage

- One pot dinner. Easy and delicious.
Brown pork chops in oil and butter. Cut up potatoes in 2 inch pieces. Add to pot on top of chops. Do not stir. Add small amount of liquid. I used water. You could use chicken or vegetable stock if you want. When potatoes are fork tender, add chopped cabbage on top of potatoes. Again, do not stir. Slice onion, scatter on top of cabbage. Cut up smoked sausage and lay on top of cabbage and onions. Season each layer as you go with salt and pepper. Cover pot between each addition to allow the vegetables and chops to steam. Enjoy!

Love cabbage. Love basic meals like this. ❤🇨🇦
OMG, this is the first time I've seen one of Karen's videos. Of COURSE, I'm hooked already. I'm seriously making this recipe and many more to come.
My mom cooked as she was taught by our Grandma. Simple, frugal, but always delicious. My mom's mom was originally from Ohio. Married and they moved out here to San Francisco so he could work on the Southern Pacific. My Grandma kept cooking, of course, while working a job herself, and our mom taught us, as we grew up, to cook as we grew up. Always had good meals on the table, morning, lunch in our lunch boxes and we all sat around the table for dinner. Lucky for my sister and me.
Karen is very informative, a great Southern cook and a real sweetheart!
Just found this sweet lady a day ago. Just popped up on my feed.
Ms Karen, your channel was such a wonderful surprise to pop up on RUclips. I watched the entire video recipe and I have to say that the dish and biscuits look absolutely delicious. I have to try this myself and I thoroughly enjoy one meal dishes. This would have been perfect for me to take to work for lunch before I retired. And an added benefit is that potatoes, cabbage, and onions are still economical. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much. It is a very easy and delicious meal. And yes better yet, still economical. Thank you for watching. More good things to come.
No I'm
She has soo many wonderful recipes.
What a sweet, sweet lady! I love recipes like this - I’m a Tennessee girl and grew up eating these kinds of foods. I will definitely be making this meal! Thank you!
I love the whole conversation as you cooked. Years from now-some grandchildren will have "grandma's recipes on video". Best way to pass them down.
Thank you. That why I started doing this was for my kids & grandkids. They are my biggest cheerleaders
Omg you're killing me with these delicious meals! This one I think I can do so I'm going to try tomorrow. Thank you Karen😊
Let me know. ❤️
I can't wait to try this.
Hi Karen! I tried this recipe yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. I was a bit skeptical at first because I thought....how can you pile everything on top of each other and it still turn out good. I am here to tell you it turned out great. Everything was tender and juicy. Those biscuits were fabulous. My husband said...I don't know what you did to these biscuits but they are the best I've ever eaten and he loves my homemade biscuits. These were a step above. So soft and moist. I think these will be my go to biscuits from now on. Thank you for sharing. I just had to let you know how much we enjoyed it.
Yum yum!!!
Southern style 😋
Watching June 2022 and I am loving every video!!! ❤️
Ms Karen what a heartfelt shared recipe. Brought me back to cooking with my Grandma or Mom. Will be sure to try your recipe! Bless~
We will love this meal. Can't wait to try it.
What a lovely, sweet lady you are!...I felt like I was right there with you in your kitchen having a conversation with you while you did all this DELICIOUS cooking!....So glad your video randomly popped up for me to enjoy!...I live in the Florida panhandle, but originally from Mississippi, so I know all about “good old down-home (budget friendly) cooking”...I will be checking out your other videos as I am now a new subscriber!...God bless you, my dear!...

I miss my grandmother so much. She always made the yummiest food. But by the time I was old enough to really learn, she was far too immobile to teach. Thank you for these videos. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
Your welcome sweetie, and thank you for your kind words 🥰
This is my first video! I am so blessed to find another genuine Southern Cook. I found another reason to move to Alabama if this is an everyday meal... Thank you
That is the best thing you could ever say to me. Happy you moved here. Where in Alabama are you from?
You are so sweet I love listening to you and I told my husband next time we have pork chops I'm cooking them using your recipe it looks delicious

@@KarenJonesFoodFamily your too kind and im very happy to have joined the Mrs. Karen's great food and family!! 😊
This is a great recipe idea! My husband loves fried potatoes and sausage, I think adding the pork chops and cabbage is genius! I already put onions in everything. The Albertson’s store has some great sausage in that we really like. We used to make our own sausage but that’s a lot of work! We can get homemade sausage up in Beulah and Hazen, ND at their home owned grocery stores there. When we go visit family we stock up on sausages! Thanks again for your recipe. ♥️ Gramma Shar from Wyoming
i thoroughly enjoyed this you just seem so friendly can't wait to try this thank you
Great looking meal and I appreciate your calm way of presentation too.
Awww! Thank you. I appreciate hearing that. Thanks for watching.

I will keep you in my prayers Shae. I'm do happy I can give you a little comfort.
That's a great recipe. That's what I call true down home Southern cookin. That recipe could be adopted by Cracker Barrel or other restaurants that specialize in country cooking. 😁
I'm glad I came across your channel. Your family is fortunate to have you in the kitchen cooking up such scrumptious meals. 🙂
Stay safe everyone. 😎😁
I can’t wait to make this!! Thanks for sharing
I made this last night in the slow cooker. Excellent!!! I used rutabagas instead of potatoes because they are sturdier than potatoes and lower carbs. Will definitely make it again!!!
Thank you for letting me know. Yumm ❤️
I love her! I’d love to sit & help her in her kitchen… such a sweet soul! I must try this recipe. It’s a little different from fried cabbage, sausage & onions/garlic/red bell pepper, etc. The chops under all THIS recipe will have tons of flavor & more of a steamed cook to it all. (I’m learning new recipes as I’ve never really made cabbage before)
My daughter and I are making this meal for it looks so good, we made the biscuits and added parsley in the mix being vitamins in any way are good. My daughter made another batch with dry cilantro mixed inn for a bit on her biscuits. Our dinner took time but we couldn't help ourselves on tasting the biscuits. Yum
I hope you enjoyed it. Those biscuits were good. I like to follow a recipe then I'll change it to make it my own. Add some garlic powder then melt butter and add garlic powder and parsley then brush on top of baked biscuits fresh from the oven. 😋
How ling do you cook the entire meal for?
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily how long do you cook the entire meal for?
Didn't take 2 hours. I stopped cooking and started the video back.
Thank you Karen!
My family are carrot lovers so I think I would probably drop some in. What a wonderful 1 pot meal you've come up with. I could almost taste it just watching you serve. I have to try this one along with the biscuits! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy. My hubby loves carrots also. I might just have to do the same sometimes. Great idea! 🧡
I watched this video yesterday and it looked so good I had to make it. A BIG HIT!! Thank you for the recipe
Thank you do much Kathy for saying that. It's means alot to me. And thanks for watching.

Great sharing very nice recipe look so delicious 😍❤️🌹👍👏👏👏
This video came up in my suggestions today - I'm hooked! So useful to find a channel with economical, delicious meals presented in a friendly, no-nonsense way.
Here in the UK energy prices are rocketing, along with the cost of living generally. Anything you can do to inspire us with inexpensive ingredients - and minimal oven time - is very much appreciated!
I've always struggled to cook pork chops that are tender not tough - these look wonderful, I will definitely be giving it a try. THANK YOU dear lady.
Love & luck to you and yours, from me and mine! XXX
I love watching you cook. Thank you for sharing!! 😊😊❤
Thanks mom for a great entertaining half hour looks absolutely delicious.
I also love your recipes
Please keep posting these! That final moment when you put the entire serving on the plate was (to me) the closest thing to Heaven on earth.
I really like how you show each step in the process, even to the level of peeling the potatoes and measurements of things like butter and flour. It's helpful to those of us who aren't on your level. I'll bet that kitchen smells absolutely wonderful when you're cooking.
I also like that you are from Alabama, the deep South. I'm an Okie, so not exactly deep South, but I've found that the deep South has perhaps the tastiest food in all of America. I recently spent a few months in Mississippi on a job assignment and could not believe how great the food was.
Thank you Mike. I have lived here all my life. Welcome to my family and to our kitchen. ❤️
Karen I’m still in love with this recipe … so funny watching this again and flip back seeing your wonderful new kitchen y’all done. Wow
Enjoying watching you and when you have hubby or Stephanie in the kitchen with you.
❤
Thank you. I love my new kitchen. It was way overdue. ❤️
I'm going to make this tomorrow for my mom. I bet she's going to LOVE this one-pot meal. She loves everything I cook. I learned watching her when I was young. Now that she is old and can no longer cook as much as she used to, I cook for her every evening. I won't make the biscuits though because I'll be at her house and can't find anything. You know how it's not your kitchen and you can't find stuff? I'll just bring some store-bought garlic bread and heat that up in the air fryer for the bread to go with this meail. I love how you cook for real and take your time and show us step by step what you're doing. You have a really pleasant voice and demeanor. Watching you is just like watching my mom cooking or someone you know for a long time. Very comforting and encouraging. I'm so glad I found your channel. - Melynda I am in really good company. A lot of new people just now watching this video too. Hey y'all. shoutout to the new people!
You are so sweet. Love to your mom. Take care of her. Neither of us have our parents now. Miss them. ❤️
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily I made this today and it was a huge success. My mom loved it. She wouldn't let me throw away the leftovers. There is barely enough for one serving. She said she would boil some more potatoes and cabbage and add it to stretch it to just one more meal. :) She liked it that much.
Thank you for letting me know. ❤️
That really looked delicious. I hate cooking so I really love the one pot meals, thanks for
sharing this recipe😊
I am absolutely going to make my chops this way. one pot is a saver because I've been cooking all of this in separate dishes! THANK YOU!
One pot is the way to go. Easy and delicious 😋
I love this one pot meal. I also make this and I have used chicken and just sausage. All of it is delicious for a color I’ve grated one small carrot
So glad to know there are other cooks who do not need sugar in everything. I love sweets, but not in everything. Hey you are in Alabama too. I live in Huntsville.
I have been trying to find more recipes using cabbage. It's such an under-used vegetable and I love it! Thanks for the idea Karen 🥰
What a lovely lady . I would love to eat all her food. Looks delicious.

Hey, first time I saw your video. I love this 1 pot recipe. I thought I would share a recipe with you, maybe you will try it. Put in a big bowl of 16 ounce thawed shredded hashbrowns, garlic and onion powder to your tasting, I just shake it around add 2 cans of cream of corn and cut up heated kielbasa sausage and mix it all together and put into a 9 by 13 inch casserole dish and bake for about 30 minutes at 350,, take out and add any kind of cheese you like, I used shredded Colby jack, put back in the oven until cheese is melted. Thank you. Hope you try it and like it
Sounds delicious. Thank you. I'll try it.

Thank you very much.
Looks good and delicious! Thanks for cheering 💖
This looks really good.
Thank you.
Wonderful! It must bê só tasty. I can say that this recipe seems a German recipe for they love pork meat, potatoes, cabbage, sausage
I always clean my meats with vinegar and water prior to cooking.
Thank you, and what about cutting potatoes in a bowl, and not cutting them up on a bear counter?
I cut them on my cutting board not my counter, but if you want to cut them into a bowl that would be great.
I’m going to try making this in my instant pot. All of the ingredients sound so delicious. Thank you for the biscuit recipe also.
Should be great. ❤️
I was looking for a new quick easy one Skillet dish but when I saw her open up the package of pork chops and not wash them off I turned her off I was dumbfounded not my kind of dish
Thanks for watching. You can wash them if you want to. I chose not to. 😉
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily I don't wash mine either! 😋

Approximately how long did you cook potatoes before adding the rest of ingredients? Then Approximately how much longer did it take to finish after all ingredients were added?😍
Maybe 10-15 minutes. Not quite done because they will continue cooking. Add rest of ingredients and cook until cabbage is tender. Maybe 15 minutes or so. Check for tenderness. Thanks for watching.
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily Thank you!
Ms Brenda Gantt makes several different kinds of cornbread in Andalucia Alabama. Your porkchop cabbage dish looks delicious, yum!
So much salt !
Not as much as it looks like. The camera makes it seem like more. But I promise its not. I can't tolerate alot of salt because of blood pressure.
Soothing voice. I got sleep but remembered what you made.
Damb, that's a Lotta salt!
Not a such as you think. But, you use as little as you want to.
All chefs use salt to bring out flavor. She uses Kosher like them. Worked for a high end caterer called Salt Catering. Salt ea. Layer.
That is some good ole Alabama groceries. Looking forward to trying it.
It sure is. 😋
Miss. You should clean the meat. Because you don’t know who touched the meat before. That’s a negative to me. Hygiene comes first. That’s all
Thank you for your comment. It is recommended not to wash meat. The cooking temperature is so high it would kill any bacteria that might be on it. Thanks for watching.
water does kill bacteria. Wasted step
It's more about cross contamination in your kitchen. And yes, I clean my kitchen before, during, and after any food prep and cooking.
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily Your kitchen do what you want ,first time watching ! 🤗 🤗 😍 😇
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily in the meat and on the meat...it still needs to be soaked in salt vinegar and or lemon/lime ..it's very unhygienic and you cross contaminated a million times while prepping your meal regardless of your cleaning before or after, you keep clean during the process. Meal looks good just clean your meat first. Right out the package to the pan is no good for anyone and cause stomach parasites and a whole list of other issues. Maybe it's what you've done your whole life and if that's the case then rock on with yourself !!!
