Years ago a jug of milk tipped over in my car and leaked onto the carpet. The stench in a hot car was horrible and I did not have a carpet cleaning machine. What finally worked was to saturate the area with white vinegar, soak up as much as possible with towels and leave the windows down until it dried. So all this is to say that a bit of vinegar will work until you can thoroughly clean it.
