Awesome episode with Sir Josh as always. My insights in this is Gilas can be competitive as long as they do these things, 1) Keep the core and add a couple of good players to surround the current core. 2) SBP hopefully hires a foreign assistant, preferably from Europe to guide Coach Tim and make the offense and defense more structured and organized and also pleasing to our eyes. 3) Develop and trust our youth prospects Like Alas, Gemao, etc. If they achieve these 3 main things, good things are about to happen.

I don't think Josh was underestimating the knowledge of Filipino fans. And kudos to you for being well-informed! Hopefully more people take the initiative to do the same.

and fajardo is more effective in the pf position in the international scene where he can impose his size on the smaller guy,i wish next fiba tournament, they would use fajardo more as a pf rather than a center because he isnt that effective in the center because most players in the internationals are same height or taller than fajardo,so putting him as pf works just like in latvia where fajardo did play as pf and kai as center and imposed his size on latvian bigs

JB and CTC were not scouted well.
-Most of the FIBA games played by Gilas in recent years were either under Chot(predictable) and Tab Baldwin (something Europeans are familiar and comfortable with). Triangle offense is hard to master and considered obsolete in modern basketball.
-Clarkson was not in the team, they may set their minds to play normal.
    - Kai has been making all the noise outside Asia, but they probably haven't seen his improvement from the World Cup, they tend to focus on him.
-They always forget how tough Fajardo is.
-Ramos, Newsome, Perez and Tamayo went under the radar.

Brownlee is a good matchup against typical European wings, but not a good one against stronger, more athletic ones like the ones from Brazil.
It's not Japeth's fault, he's past his prime. He's been heavily reliant in his athleticism (and he was very very athletic). Now, he's not as athletic as before yet not much smarter, that's the problem. Why Japeth is there is Tim Cone's fault. That very thin pool of 13 players hit his campaign very badly.
The other veteran big, Junmar, he may be slower, jumps much less higher, but he's much smarter, he plays like what's expected of a veteran and that's why he's still effective.

Here we go again, respect to Josh. But this guy simply has no respect for Tim Cone, Justin Brownlee, June Mar Fajardo, and the rest of Gilas for what they have done. It's unbelievable he declares the opponent's at fault they lost because they haven't scouted the Philippines. Admit it man, you have no idea who Tim Cone is and what he does. Cone can win even with inferior lineup. He'd proven it multiple times. He did it with Alaska, San Mig and Ginebra. He's always placed more than respectable whenever he is the head coach of the national team: 1 Asian Games gold, 1 Asian games bronze, 1 SEA Games Gold, and 1 Jones Cup Gold. Of course, he is not invincible, he has his share of losses, too.
As Cone said, he is not satisfied with moral victories. But we all know the lineup of Latvia, Georgia, and Brazil are all superior to the lineup of the Philippines. And the Philippines were in the running in all three games, except for the final quarter of the Brazil game. It will not take long before Gilas can consistently chalk up wins against these 10th or so ranked teams during the Tim Cone era.

@@Mr.DMac123 Give Tim Cone the benefit of the doubt. You already have seen what happened in the Asian Games and against Latvia. That's just the beginning. Remember, Last February's window was the first time his lineup went to battle. Get it time. This is not Chot Reyes at the helm.

I don’t get that this guy is viewed or considered by this channel as a resource person when it pertains to Gilas, when seemingly, time and again, it’s proven as a dumb exercise.
He prefaces his insights and opinions with “let’s be realistic” then proceeds to diminish everything Gilas with his unintelligent observations. Obvious that his grasp of Gilas is of ground surface at best, yet, convincing everyone of its layered depth. Follow his train of thought and fallacies will show abundance.
Showcase a master of backhanded compliments, then don’t expect truths.
