The trusted Engel! This is close to "bullet proof" as you can get on a 12V fridge. If only they had a strong dealer network in the US and launched their latest models around the same time as they did in Australia and elsewhere.
It always surprises me how many of these Engels I see that are 15+ years old still running fine with an awesome patina on them. Another thing is that pretty much every manufacturer is at a level of high quality with 12v compressor fridges these days, you can't go wrong with any of the major brands.
Yeah those Engels are about the best. A friend has a 63qt Norcold that's a rebranded Engel. And a Norcold 43qt in his Kenworth. Both of them are close to 30 years old. None of the other 12v reciprocating compressors will last as long. Danfoss isn't made in Denmark anymore. The Secops are just copies. Made in various places.
my mate had a old engel mabe 20 years old laying out by his shed in the weather for a couple of years broken bottom i said what you doing with that fridge mate he said you can have it i said does it work he said did when i put it there so whe pluged it in and to my suprise it fired right up i fixed the bottom and it is still going strong now im bying a new one so im pasing it on to another mate for him to enjoy go engel you little ripper lol 👍👍👍😊😊😊
true mate i brought evakool because i am australian wanted to support aus made but what they sold me was made in china with there name on it two fridges later and two years i got a refund and tomoro im going to bye a engel like i should of done in the first place
toby I got an MT45 fridge freezer. It can be both or either so it’s turned in handy. I watched the Malcolm Douglas Engel ad on RUclips and that sold me. Mine sites in the ute tray under a tarp so metal is better than plastic
i got one them in the video and it no good after few years now have to either spend $1200 quoted at a refrigeration place for a completely new motor and system install which I'm not going ahead with and will have to throw out the fridge. The reliability isn't any more.
Man this is terrible to hear. Ill tell ya tho, this same type of thing is being reported across the board with multiple fridge manufacturers. Im not sure whats happening. It seems that they all use the same supplier for other components aside from the compressor and that supplier has been sending sub par parts that dont last. Ive even heard issues with home appliance fridges
@@SirWilliamGoes someone should research and go back to the original parts for the early model and restore the great name it had. On the other hand i received a retro early one from a deceased estate and its still working after 40+ years.

I would agree
I second that....I want the newest gun metal Engel....the MT-Vs but they're not being anytime soon in America
This video helped me understand why I'm going to choose an Engel over a Danfoss type (ARB etc)
Awesome!! I'm glad you could find it useful
I have a small one mounted in place of my center console. It's been running strong for over 5 years.
Nice. They are great coolers for sure and don't they have
Drains??

Yeah I've heard some good stuff about these Engels for sure.

Wow that's impressive
After a lot of research I just purchased an Engel, I am very happy about the reliability. It’s worth it to not be concerned about break down.
I agree
Mate Engel is the best. You get what you pay for
They definitely are great fridge
Sir William Goes these things are known for longevity in Oz

Does the newest engel mt45f-u1cd-p allow the low voltage cutoff protection to be completely disabled?
Probably not. You’d have to reach out to them tho
Just confirmed in the online manual that it does indeed allowing to be disabled.
