I have the unique experience of being from St Louis missouri USA, where the Busch family makes what they call Budweiser. They call themselves the king of beers, which I think is ridiculous. I'll never forget the first time I tried the real Budweiser (Budvar) at the international festival in St Louis. It was a revelation to compare AB's pitifully pale and almost tasteless beer to the bold and golden pivo Budvar. I wonder how the American Budweiser got to be so bad. I place the blame on several historical events : Prohibition, the great depression and maybe even World War 2, putting restrictions on certain ingredients and methods that reduced costs. But like the Brewmeister was saying, if you change the method or ingredients just a little, you'll get a different beer. At the brewery tour in St louis they tell a fairytale about how they haven't changed a single thing since the 1880s, but I have a hard time believing that. There's no way that today's Budweiser is the same beer that made the brand so famous. Meanwhile, in The Czech Republic they are still doing things the best way they can. May God bless them for that.
You know, it is really national drink for us = no way to produce it badly like try to change methods etc., We know, that our antecedents mastered it centuries back. No need to change anything.
The best beers I've found in missouri come from winery's who make there own and it's usually a wheat beer, once bud sold to imbev I started drinking modelos and local as much as I could
The thing I loved about the Czech Republic when there was realising that the country classes beer as food and so is not taxed. What a difference between the love doing this and other commercial breweries with a similar name.🤣
This was my favourite brewery experience ever. And I fully agree about the reserve being the best lager. I also, maybe controversially, put Budvar above Urquell… but then again so did most people when I lived in Slovakia.
Thank you for the video, Budvar was my childhood playground as my father was the brewer there. Such a great memories, running around, laying next to barley bags etc.
Guys I love your channel! I usually do not tend to leave comments but...! Since Im a czech homebrewer I really appreciate your falling for czech lager beer really. Let me say this.. In my eyes you have a significant and really important impact on beer scene because of your attitude. The most importantly I have to say that czech lager is good but all the beer styles in the world are just the best together! Oh man! When I saw that video from Adnams brewery and the Nelson´s , oh boy... Those videos make me feel like sitting on the plane right away and go there!!! Thank you so much for your content because you make something that really matters in a way that´s unimaginable.
More anticipation for this than Oppenheimer and Indiana Jones combined. Remember going to Prague years ago and sampling the dark lager. Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant film gents, can't wait for the next installment!
@@Osc1llateW1ldly U dvou koček was just a few blocks from my university, we used to frequent that one :-) Good ol' times. The prices have gone up in recent years though :-( Nowadays we often go to Kampa (Scout Institute), where they have Únětice, or in the summer, to the boat anchored on Vltava that belongs to the Forman brothers (sons of the famous director), where they also have Únětice. Zlý časy is for trying out various beers (they have like 50 taps on 3 floors), a bit away from the city centre.
I was just gonna say that "U Dvou Koček" have the best Pilsner Urquell in town IMO. Even better than "U Pinkasů". And that says a lot. Never knew that Zlý časy have so many floors or taps for that matter... Next time I'm in Prague have to pop-in@@frufruJ
As a Czech fan of your channel, this was a really nice video to watch, thank you for showing the world our beer (not just in this video). Looking forward to your next videos, cheers gents!
Easily one of the greatest videos I've seen on the tube following beer channels, marvellous insightful work fellas, you should be proud of yourselves. Thanks
Your Pilsner Urquell tour video was pretty much the main reason for me to make the trip to the Czech republic a few years ago and it was absolutely worth it. This looks just as good if not even better so I guess another visit is required! Fantastic video lads, this is top notch content.
It was all going so well, then a bloody Stella advert popped up, mercifully briefly. Czech Pilsner - a thing of absolute sublime beauty. Can't wait for part two. Fabulous.
As someone who has tastes both the original Budvar and the Americanized Budweiser, I can say one thing: they are light years away from each other. Budweiser is not only watered down, but it has this really nasty after taste, I cannot really point my finger, but it is there. I don't like it, at all. I would not buy it, even at a discount. Budvar on the other hand, is such a wonderful beer! Really rich flavorful taste. Just enough hops to differentiate it from water. One of the shops in my town sell it at a significantly cheaper price than other shops and store chains in Finland, so I so happy to get it with a reasonable price. Czech beer is best in the world! Both in taste and in price-quality ratio.
I was in the ancient cellars of Pilsner Urquell to taste the (only) unfiltered, unpasteurized Urquell from the tank, and was one of the best experiences in my entire life. Don't miss It. Watching this reminded me of that moments, so thanks for your work and happy you enjoyed a similar experience so much.
We have a New Year's Eve tradition where my family brings two 5 litre barrels of Budvar, and I always complain because there isn't enough for all of us. That is probably as close as I am going to get to this experience. Great beer, great video!
Radim is an absolute legend! I loved him on Simons video, ( who, by the way, loves you guys and is singing your praises), and in this video is just an absolute credit to Budvar. Well done guys. 🍻
Just have to say the production quality has increased leaps and bounds. Specifically you are nailing the sound and levels like never before. Awesome vid and great job!
Ahhh, we have the luxury of living right next to the Czech Republic, Budvar is the best of the big breweries in CZ, we have a big brewery called Urpiner in Slovakia, that's also really great
what a great video guys. I just returned from Europe and let me tell you that i drinks lots of lager in my time in Prague, what a beautiful style of beer. Cheers dudes !
I tasted a budvar reserve in an online beer tasting somewhat recently. I liked it so much, i framed the budvar flyer that came with the tasting box. ...plus it looks cool
Cracking video, despite a few cringe pronunciations (sorry guys). Always preferred Budvar to Prazdroj when I lived in Czechia, and it still sounds wrong to call it a "pilsner" when it isn't from Plzeň. Looking forward to hunting out tankové Budvar when I get back to Czechia in November.
Haha we'd love to but they are so expensive and take a huge amount of time to make - we research, present, shoot and edit everything between two of us! We'll need lots more Patreons to do it!
Love Czech beers in summer or a darker draught U Fleků in the cooler months. I discovered Bohemian, Golden Pheasant a couple of years ago in my local Polish supermarket, lovely. And Bernard Pivo on draught in York Station' pub.
Thank God it's still imported. This and Pilsner Urquell are great on a hot day. Notice how Staropramen has gone all skunky and stale since they moved to brewing it in the UK. Even Belgian Stella is "ok", but the British just can't seem to brew lager on an industrial scale.
Great video, Budvar is one of the best beers you can reliably find in most supermarkets around here, I'm sure it's on another level when had fresh like this though. You should try to brew a clone and make a video or two out of it!
Fascinating! I was fortunate enough to have a similar tour by the former brewmaster back in 2014, and this brought back so many pleasant memories of that experience. Looking forward to seeing part 2.
This video was spectacular, boys. Over the past couple of years you two have inspired me to revisit lagers and they can be among (amongst?) the best beers in the world. I would have continued going for (boring) IPAs if it weren’t for you two. Thanks fellas.
One of my favourites, on draught and in cans (I think the cans taste better than the bottles). And you can drink it knowing you are helping to fund the Czech health service.
Great video Daddio, the beer looks stunning over there. You will need to get yourself up to the Isle of Skye Brewery sometime! cheers guys all the best
Entertaining, educational and funny as always! As a side note, I look forward to your videos (and podcasts) each week as watching them at the gym (along with catching up on your many past videos/ podcasts) has kept me motivated since I started 6 months ago.. 13kg down and I thank you for making it that much easier a journey. Love and beer!
Thanks for sharing. I like how you presented this video. There was another channel that did this tour. They didn't go into the full detail like you did. Wish I was able to get a hold of this beer across the pond. If you guys every make it back to CA hit me up. Would like to meet up and buy you guys a beer. Cheers!

never has a video made me want a beer as much as this one. Looking forward to the next one!
Haha sorry and thanks so much!
Absolutely this ☝🏻
I would love to try this beer Right Out of the Lager Tank! 🤔🫨❤️
First class beer, probably the best pilsner lager I've tasted. That first mouthful on a hot summer's evening is as good as life gets.
This was my favourite brewery experience ever. And I fully agree about the reserve being the best lager. I also, maybe controversially, put Budvar above Urquell… but then again so did most people when I lived in Slovakia.
Interesting! I think at its peak, tank fresh I still prefer PU but nothing beats that reserve we had.
I couldn’t stop smiling whilst watching this, that’s one to add too the bucket list
"Because we love the beer!" - That's the right attitude :D Amazing video
The Czechs know beer. Every single lager I drank in Prague was better than any I have ever had from a tap in the UK.
Yep. Partly the breweries but mostly the serve. The whole world lags behind.
You can also get Budweiser Budvar in the UK from a tap 😉
Lovely vid and Radim must have the best job in the world. Showing proper brexit geezers the fantastic brewery. Love and beer :)
Thank you for the video, Budvar was my childhood playground as my father was the brewer there. Such a great memories, running around, laying next to barley bags etc.
This is a masterpiece. I doubt you'll top this one across the whole of the rest of this year. You are back and at the top of your game, once again.
Haha thanks we will try though!
Ooooh man, as a brewer I can't wait to plan a trip there
I'm going to watch this tomorrow so I can get some Budvar, to drink while I watch.
I remember visiting this brewery when studied abroad in the Czech Republic back in 2015. What an experience it was. Something I'll never forget
I have a weakness for a great pilsener - this is wonderful! Great episode as usual gents
what a top quality place

Been to České Budějovice... fantastic beer.
ITS FANTASTIC!!!
More anticipation for this than Oppenheimer and Indiana Jones combined. Remember going to Prague years ago and sampling the dark lager. Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant film gents, can't wait for the next installment!
Thanks Liam!
Booked flights to Czech Republic just because of this. You're directly responsible for my inevitable bankruptcy :)
did you manage to make it to "U Dvou Koček" or "U Zlatého Tygra"?

Had the pleasure of trying this beer on tap in 93. It's amazing. If you ever get a chance to try it please take the chance, you won't be disappointed.
As a Czech fan of your channel, this was a really nice video to watch, thank you for showing the world our beer (not just in this video). Looking forward to your next videos, cheers gents!
This is every beergeek's dream come to life. Incredible!
What an amazing video. I would definitely visit Budvar.

Thanks so much! It is well worth the trip. The town is beautiful and full of good beer spots too
Really good watch, they all seemed so happy to share their brewery, would love a go on them special editions!
It was all going so well, then a bloody Stella advert popped up, mercifully briefly. Czech Pilsner - a thing of absolute sublime beauty. Can't wait for part two. Fabulous.
I absolutely love their glasses think they are beautiful design and look amazing when full 😍
30 mins of beer knowledge.....cheers guys ❤🍺
if its not broken dont fix it ... this applies here perfectly
Definitely one of those 'plug it into my veins!' moments at the end.
Looks like a super place to visit, and such a lovely bunch of people there.
Great video. Lager is the best. And I definitely prefer this music over some of the previous choices.
Awesome!
Phenomenal tour! So much detailed explanation by the brewers - and they come across as great guys too. Visuals are also top notch.

Gotta do that one myself - Urquell is in a class of it's own....

Absolutely awesome video dudes, one of the greatest breweries in the world and you're doing it justice with this coverage. Cheers
Excellent video - really looking forward to part 2!

Pure joy to watch this!
what a great video guys. I just returned from Europe and let me tell you that i drinks lots of lager in my time in Prague, what a beautiful style of beer. Cheers dudes !
Patience is an engredience. Truer words were never spoken.
Excellent video guys! I love that lagers get some well deserved love (and beer!)
this is just SO FREAKING AMAZING. Way to go @TheCraftBeerChannel, Brad & Jonny! Well produced, directed, and drunk :P
What a beautiful place and wonderful people! So many smiles!! Great job Craft beer channel :)
I tasted a budvar reserve in an online beer tasting somewhat recently. I liked it so much, i framed the budvar flyer that came with the tasting box. ...plus it looks cool
So nice to see the channel back in Czechia -- the home of beer. Na zdraví!
I watched half of this yesterday, had to get some Budvar from the shop today to finish it off. Looking forward to the next episode!
An absolutely cracking lager.
All of them were! An amazing range of beers in those tanks.
Great video to watch while drinking a Pilsner Urquell lol. Guess I have to buy a case of Budvar later.
Feel like I can taste how good that beer must be from this video, WOW! 90 likes
Those dark lager pours looked sublime. Thank you for sharing this - it was awesome.
Na Zdravi!
Great episode 😊🍻🍻
Tremendous. Video. Worth every cent. You are very beer knowledge
Cool! Would love to visit them. I’m looking forward to the next part, cheers! 🍻
I’m sure it tastes good. Maybe one day we’ll be able to experience that even if we’re not in The Czech Republic.
Fantastic video, thanks 🍻
Very nice! Got to visit this brewery with a friend about 5 years ago. So amazing to try fresh Budvar/Budweiser at the spot.
ah, my Czech Republic. had many many wonderful beers there. and the prices are so affordable. can´t wait to go back 😋✌🍻
Bang for buck it's the best in the world!

Jonny, Brad, you two blokes punch so far above your weight in terms of content quality it is insane. Thank you both, this was great.
I’m hoping to visit the brewery in November. Always one of my favorite beers!
Great video! Looking forward to part 2.
Lucky guys. I'd love to do that! I'm not a lager fan, but Budweiser is one of the few that I like.
I always look forward to your videos! So much passion and love for beer, absolutely top notch stuff guys!
So informative! Everyone there loves what they are doing.
Love Czech beers in summer or a darker draught U Fleků in the cooler months. I discovered Bohemian, Golden Pheasant a couple of years ago in my local Polish supermarket, lovely. And Bernard Pivo on draught in York Station' pub.
Fantastic work, fellas.
Johnny…you sound eerily similar to RUclipsr Tom Scott.
Brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed the video about one of my favourite beers.
Wonderful, thank you🍻

So they are state owned, probably why they still make good quality beer. My go to pilsner.
Fascinating! I was fortunate enough to have a similar tour by the former brewmaster back in 2014, and this brought back so many pleasant memories of that experience. Looking forward to seeing part 2.
This absolutely fantastic, keep up the good work

Great video. You’ve made me want to go back to Prague again!
I were at budvar at the age of 17. Didn't gave a flying foxtrot about it. I wish I have known better. Man I just love Czechs and their beers 🍻
very interesting & fantastic video -well done & thanks
so good!! great episode. need to venture out in the smoke and find budvar.
I want to come and visit this brewery!!!!!!!!
Great video on a fascinating brewery.
Brad's reaction at 24:02 says it all!
The video was worth the wait great content and a great edit too!
One of my favourites, on draught and in cans (I think the cans taste better than the bottles). And you can drink it knowing you are helping to fund the Czech health service.
