Well, anytime you can combine the "Chicken Dance" with a classic car, I'm intrigued! This 'Vette is flawless and has a fantastic sound, too. There is so much to admire here. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, "anytime you can combine the "Chicken Dance" with a classic car, I'm intrigued!" I get the feeling this is this is the last car you'll be intrigued by :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nice that although he didn't plan to buy the car and didn't know much about that model, he took his time and considered the purchase. took an even greater care in the restoration. And it shows in the end result. Another great video and story. IMHO the format of your stories just works. Please keep going!

Yup..the 327 was simply a bored-out 283...the basic engine block eventually was the basis for the ubiquitous 350ci...Chevy really had a great engine choice back in the day...of course, the Ford 283 was just as good a small-block.
Great show Lou. When I graduated from college in the late 70's my father bought me a 66 Impala SS with the same 283 V8. That little thing packed a big wallup. I had it for almost 20 years and stupid me sold it to help buy our dream house. Always regret it. Love your videos.
Beautiful Corvette! When I was a kid over 60 years ago our neighbors son saved up much of his pay while he was in the Army and came home with a '60, I think, Vette. I can't remember the color of his car. It had the removable hardtop and he always kept it covered. Thanks for posting Lou. Be blessed always!
HI Gerry, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbors Son's car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome. Blessings received. God bless you too, Lou
Beautiful 1961 Corvette! Ermine White on Roman Red. Nice combo! Healthy 283 equipped with 4-speed manual transmission. Another one stuck inside an indoor venue! I do not like indoor car shows. They're all show, and never no go!
This guy John lived my secret dream!..in the early 1970s, my wife's grandpa found us a 1966 Mustang convertible...I loved that vehicle of course, but certainly would have traded over that car for a 1961 Vette!..Those small-block V8s from that time frame were so reliable, and offered flexible power, with decent fuel economy...no need for a big-block in those earlier cars; 200-250hp was more than enough!..to me. that "classic" sports car look ( once owned an Austin-Healey that had a similar design) was so right, for that time period.
¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

Really nice Lou. This coming from a Ford loyalist. What surprised me was the width of the tires. You could swap the tires with a set of Harley Davidson tires. 😀👍
I goofed! I always thought the ‘62 model Vette was the first year for the new back end styling. Any future plans to show one of the three Buicks in the background of the Vette, Mr. Lou?
Lou you had the engine on display but failed to ask the owner anything about it. I do commend you for noticing the beautiful doors. I would have asked about the lights. You also asked what distinguished the 61 from the 62. Great question. The owner was giving the story about the introduction of new tail lights in 61. You must have had something on your mind when he was sharing that with you because you totally dropped the ball on that part of the story. This Corvette is the quintessential "Little Red Corvette" As always Lou you find and share on your program some amazing rare cars.
Hi Lou, 61 is the start of the Stingray rear fascia even though the car is not a Stingray. My favorite is the 58 because it has a boat load of chrome and the 61 gauge cluster because it’s accented in chrome. It’s still as far as a layout of gauges the best layout of any car in my opinion. Thank You 🙏
How I tell a 61 from a 62? I remember that side trim on a 66 mustang resembles a 61 corvette, the 65 mustang trim resembles the 62 corvette. Convoluted thinking I know, but it works for me.
The best corvette best trim package of all glad to see he jept the restoration original G2 in the back G1 in the front plus now I know who came up with chicken dance lol
Figures ! To each their own I guess. I prefer to build / restore cars. I've driven a Viper or two . Just not my thing. But they do go like stink. And they stop better than my 70 Cuda did ! That being said I'd rather have a Cuda.
