    You're The Best Jimmy! I've been working as a Stage hand my entire life (I'm 50) started at 16,Specializing in Rigging , I've also done Props,Carpentry, most,everything. I've been mainly a touring Production Rigger for many years now but that's going to end sooner than later , (it's a young man's gig) but luckily I've ran across you and you've INSPIRED the hell out of me to create a new life. I thank you so much because I honestly had no idea what I was going to do as I age out of a extremely demanding trade. I will always be involved in the entertainment industry , as I've been a member of IATSE for 30 yrs but now I feel I'll be able to treat myself to a more creative lifestyle in my later yrs. Again, Thanks for the Inspiration! Good Stuff my Man !

    Hi Jimmy, I have been a subscriber for many years mate and this will be my first comment as I imagine you get so many that you won't be able to read them all, BUT, don't ever underestimate how much you inspire the average "Joe in the street" (ME for one!) Thanks a lot pal. N.

    Yep, these vlogs are awesome.
    I must say, my prized possession is my ice pick. If you remember, you gave me the brass pieces at Mini Maker Faire Rochester because you didn't have any of the actual picks at that time. You challenged me to finish it. Of course I did, and as far as I'm concerned, it was my first collaboration with the great Jimmy DiResta! hahaha

    I love seeing the book making process. I worked at a book bindery for about 2 years and ran a paper binder machine for a short time before work slowed down and forced me to look for employment elsewhere. I still credit that job to getting me into working around machines and with my hands. It was a real big confidence booster learning how to set up the machine to run books through it. It would take sections of paper back books and put the paper covers on them using hot melt glue. It would then go down a conveyer belt to a three knife machine to trim the three sides of the book and then would get put into boxes to be shipped out.

    I became aware of your talent when you and your brother had the show on HGTV and I found you again because I watch all these other woodworking videos and they all would reference something you had done. I looked at one video someone referenced and I went wait a minute that is the same artist. I laughed at myself and kept watching every video of you I can find. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see your artistry in action. Please keep posting videos and teaching your craft.

  • @stevenlinford4312
    @stevenlinford4312 6 лет назад

    There is something about all of you're videos that inspire me to get in shop and make. It's really easy to let projects sit in a corner to be forgotten about, while I catch up on whatever Netflix show that has me magnetized. But, seeing other people's love and excitement for restoring old tools, turning garbage into glamour, or just keeping busy preventing hands from going idle. It sounds cliche, but being inspired by others very may well have saved lives. Human s need to be productive. It's in our DNA, it's how we have evolved so much as a species. If our minds and hands are idol, we fall into a depression. (I digress) my point is; great vids, please keep an coming. Cheers
