I bot the ukulele and the banjolele. I've seen a lot of people struggling to tune these 5 and below, ukuleles. The first thing I noticed is that the g, c, and the e, a stings are the same strings that are just horse shoed back around, meaning when you are trying to tune it you are pulling on the other string making it impossible to tune. This does not mean that this is a usable ukulele. I've seen the videos where people are having problems with the tuners jumping, and they blame the tuners for this ukulele not working, but I believe it's more of, because, one they are trying to tune crappy stings, two they are just literally playing tug of war on the strings do to them being the same string U around to to different tuners. I've seen people making plastic turns with 3d printers that seem to work pretty well, so I'm not convinced, the unplayablety is do to the tuners. I believe if you string it back up properly with real strings, it should be tunable, and may even make a OK travel uke, I real can't see it being any worse then a 3d print uke, which is a thing. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to try this out, and I gave the ukulele to a friend's kid. So I'm going to have to buy another before I try. I do still have the banjolele it will take a little more work. It still has the same problem with the strings as the uke, but the banjo head is very lose and flimsy and the bridge will need a lot of work, if not thrown out and make a new one. (I also didn't check the bridge of the uke nor did I check the action of it, before a gave it way) but I do believe with some altering it could become usable, but you will need some tools. First thing I'm going to tackle is the head. If this is something you want to try, look up on RUclips making drums with coffee cans and soda bottles. You also look up cigar box guitar building for ideas on the bridge. If you look up 3d print ukulele there is a lot of people tinkering around, but even 3d printing can cost a lot of money. If you can't afford the whole 3d print thing, these may be a good craft to tinker around with if you like that kind of thing, and on the cheap. For $5 you get a basic body and maybe working tuners. Things you will definitely need (for the basic uke) are real string. Keep in mind the bridge and nut may need some altering. If I ever get around to messing around and getting any of this to work, I'll come back here and give an update. ✌️

Five Below Ukeleles do tune in the same way, but sometimes the "gears" in the back and the tuners don't want to work together, causing it to stop going any higher. I had to switch them around to get the sounds I needed, but yes, they do tune in the same way

This is NOT an instrument so I’m extremely confused to why you think it can be tuned a played properly! You get what you pay for! Sorry to be harsh but there are way way way better ukes you can buy for only $40. My uke cost $1600 but I’m a professional uke player so I don’t expect most people to have what I have.

Just because you play a thousand dollar uke dosent mean a 5 dollar one isn’t an instrument who plays thousand dollar ukes anyways I play a lot of finger style guitar and have been having a blast with this 5 below uke it makes music for sure definitely an instrument

@@artcadefourtwentysorry but I’m still not agreeing that that is an instrument. There is TOY quality which that is and then there is instrument quality which can be tuned and played properly. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just buy a $40 uke that will outperform that thing. Also that uke you are playing isn’t even a soprano size as it’s way smaller so there is no way it could be used as an instrument. Sorry. 😢

@@ChrisGorman87 I have a nice uke but I wrote a masterpiece on the five below one so I consider it an instrument if I can write complex music on it
