Recently found your channel and subscribed. So happy to find these. I have German ancestry and am having a hard time finding anything online about German folk magic.

It's nice to see a fellow German talking about our spiritual pass

Very informative. I kind of already see some similarities with the household spirits & Brownies, Redcaps & Hulders & a connection between the land spirits & the Wytes of English folklore.

Thank you for your video. It's nice to see that someone is interested in German folk beliefs. And now for the Hexenschuss (med.) lumbago. You make a sudden movement, your intervertebral disc slips or a nerve pinches and you have Hexenschuss. This happened to me more than once and is very painfull

      Personally, not really
but there is this instagram account called "following.the.thread" that talks about northeastern German folk magic
Another account is "sayangelic" that shares info on Sorbian folk magic, which is a Slavic ethnic group that lives in east-central Germany

What was the spirit you were talking about towards the end that can cause nightmares by sitting on the chest of a person..? Like how do you spell it and what sources would you recommend researching them? Since October, so for 5 months now, every full moon I get sleep paralysis night terrors of intruders entering my house. I’d like to do more research about these spirits to see if this could be related.

Nachtmare- aka, the original of the term Nightmare. Not 100% sure on the spelling, but just look up the "old hag" with sleep paralysis, it's a pretty common modern paranormal trope in western culture, at this point. Never knew what the pagan origins of the concept were, though.

i have a question then, say i accidentally sit in the same chair a spirit was in and i apologize. Would me apologizing upset them? Could I say good morning to animals that are alive? I want to make sure that i am not offending anyone

I think that as long as you are in good reciprocity with your house spirits you don't have to worry to hard about small missteps like that

Manchen could easily be "manling" in english.
