Bloopers on game shows make them that much more fun to watch.
Bob Barker, a class act all the way.
I have been looking for this blooper for years... thx.
I find it funny how Bob and Johnny went through the whole "You --could-- win *that*" prize spiel. XD
Sponsors and donors need to get their ad moments...😊❤
Had to go through the promo for the sponsor.
lol he walks up on stage and wins a truck in 9 seconds doing nothing LAWL I love it :D
Proof that honesty is the best policy. 😇
What a nice dude. He could have risked playing another game but his honesty got him a truck anyway.

AMEN 🙏❤️🙌
Yeah unless you commit a crime and don't want to get caught. Or cheat and don't want to get caught. Or are doing taxes.
Meanwhile 99% of humanity...What is that? Can I abuse it to my advantage?
This doesn't beat the time in the 90s when a guy was ready to play 10 chances and under all 3 tags, it showed the correct price instead of the numbers he had to choose from. Of course, he won all three prizes due to the producers goofing up. Then the same guy won the showcase showdown when both other contestants went over and Bob said, "This guy here is going to showcase and he didn't have to do a single thing!"
Or the _Flip-Flop_ cheater who pressed the button Bob used to reveal the correct price. No amount of anything can convince me he did that inadvertently/accidentally.
The funniest thing about that 10 Chances blooper was Bob's comment after the game that three different people had inspected the game board before the game, and all three of them had failed to notice the mistake.....
2000 actually.
I knew this happened. I remembered watching it, and I never thought I'd find the episode. This is awesome!
0:41 Can we give some credit to the guy in the audience that yells the exact price of those rattan chairs literally the moment the bidding starts? Game show producers hate him
There is a documentary out there on a guy who would do that. It was probably him, he knew every price of everything they had, after building a huge list to track it all
@@JH-kn6rt My understanding is that the audience members are not allowed to bring in price lists, but there's no way you can stop someone from studying the show, and since they encourage people to shout out prices, someone may be able to shout out the correct price every time. You can hear someone yelling "650," but that doesn't guarantee that any of the contestants will believe him.
@@jeopardy60611 There is a documentary on a guy who memorized the prices, he drove then crazy and even made it on the show at least once, lol.
@@JH-kn6rtYeah, Terry Kneiss if I’m recalling his name right. I think he was the one who became the first and so far only contestant to get his showcase price perfectly correct for a difference of $0.
@@JH-kn6rtJust like on Press Your Luck where a contestant won $110,00 because he memorized the patterns on the Big Board, and was able to stop 🛑 it on spaces that didn't contain any Whammies.
Anyone else think Bob could have still taken Rene through the game to see if he got it, and then given it to him either way on a technical? That would have been fun to see the audience reaction at actually knowing the answer.
I halfway expected that they would still play the game, and Bob would really play it up about that they already know the price of the item.
Had Rene not seen the price and/or said no, they would’ve played, but he had seen it, evidently, so the only other recourse was to award the prize.
Those are some sweet cool 1980's penguins on Rene's shirt.
Bob Barker had no choice in the matter, but declare it a technical win and give the guy the truck.
On the June 10, 1985, episode of THE PRICE IS RIGHT 👉🏻, of course, Silvia.
Actually he did... they COULD have declared it a glitch and played a different game, but thankfully TPIR is very above board and rewards their contestants when they mess up.

@@ACcuberSam How's he doing? Still have that truck?
@@JohnDoe-sg1pdProbably not, due to taxes. *🤣*
Bob was a good sport on doing it: letting Rene win the truck by technical difficulty before Range Game is even played.
What a class act! I honestly stopped watching the show when Bob left! I tried to watch it after Drew Carey took it over, (maybe two or three episodes) and he's just no Bob Barker!
Not even close!
we'll be back with all new episodes of the price is right the barker era tomorrow night
Rene wins by doing absolutely nothing! A preclude to the Ten Chances blooper from 2000.
Four years later on episode 7175, Punch a Bunch and One Away were both won with technical wins. Episode not likely to be streamed due to a certain pricing game that was played first
@@Rewindium I remember seeing that episode. That was from Season 17, in which the TPIR Barker channel will eventually show in the years to come since they’re only on the last part of Season 13 and beginning Season 14.
Bob was internally fuming about that mistake twice as he was already EP. Here he hasn’t because he’s not EP yet
@@Rewindium Are they going to refuse showing Bump?
It is a presumption. TBE’s social updated the episode count in a post before the first two new episodes streamed removing four episodes from season 14 that had Bump in the pricing game lineup
@@Rewindium Johnny's last show won't be aired if that holds true, same for his first grey haired show along with many others
I would’ve been disappointed that I didn’t get to press the STOP button. But yeah, why wouldn’t he be honest and say he saw the price? BTW, the price was much lower on the range finder then it normally is. 😊😊
because it was a more expensive prize than normal
Well, if he didn’t see the price and had said so, they still would have played _Range Game_ .
Another precious moment that saved the show a lot of time.
Wow never seen that before here:)
Exactly why old episodes are so much better - today, they'd just edit and play for it something else or play a different game altogether.
No they wouldn’t for two reasons
One, it would take too much time to find and setup a new prize and game. Each show is planned out in advanced quite meticulously to have 36-38 minutes of taped time but more importantly.
Two, CBS standards and practices would step in and declare it a default win anyway. In doing so, the production company and the network comply with federal law and they avoid a future lawsuit from the contestant.
So if this were to happen today they’d still give the contestant the prize
@@YoungTrash-ro1ip Not necessarily, because a prize was neither revealed nor described to the contestant. Referencing the one time Triple Play was supposed to be played, but replaced by Money Game for one of the three cars because of a snafu in who was supposed to play; the incorrect person lost before ever reaching the Money Game car. Also referencing an 80's Behind the Scenes look at "Any Number" that had a technical stop down, and S&P mentioned that revealing the prize limited the options.
Plus, the producers almost always have a backup; usually Money Game or Double Prices because of their simplicity. Your point of time is very valid though, especially when the senior staff insisted on a "live to tape" show for those in the theatre.
Just goes to show some integrity.
That and having.no choice in the matter per CBS policy and federal law
It was pretty standard for TPIR to do this when they had a a technical issue like that. I remember one time when one of the female assistants accidentally opened up the winning prize door on a game and was SO embarrassed but Drew (this was after he had taken over) was totally cool about it. edit: here it is: ruclips.net/video/pdeiBwOlEl0/видео.html
In his later years, Bob would have gone through with playing the game anyway, built up a bunch of "drama" for laughs, and done a big reveal as if everyone didn't already know.
Rene is my uncle!!! 😊😅
Did he have to sell his new truck to pay for the taxes on it?

Won't start it up again for *yet* another 36 hours.
That Isuzu pickup truck must have been the absolute base model-hard to tell, but I think $6334 was the price shown. “Comes with California emission.”
The one offered in the infamous “I wanna hear a little horn” playing of One Away (just five weeks prior) was $7132-it also had power steering and air conditioning.
All that aside, Rene didn’t have to do anything at all to win, and you can’t argue with that! 😎
Keep in mind that this was the 1980's. By today's standards, a $6000 car would probably be the equivalent of a car worth at least $15,000 if you take inflation to account. It was probably a new model of the time. TPIR isn't known for handing out basic or used cars, they always gave away the best models car companies have on hand.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl Close, but if we were playing Range Game, you might not have made it. A $6334 price tag in 1985 would be $17,994.86 in 2023.
According to a site which keeps statistics for every season of TPiR, the truck was worth $6,314, which when added to the chairs Rene won ($650), gave him a prize total of $6,964. Rene would make the Showcase round, winning the Showcase Showdown with 80¢, but losing to another contestant.
Has to be basic. Most cars in the 1985 episodes were in the 7 or 8 thousand range. This could have also been a Dice Game car- since I think they still played the regular version at times in 1985.
Wow!!!!

These days, they would re-shoot the segment and make sure their mistake never made it to the airwaves, like they did with the accidental rigging of the Plinko board back in 08.

Rest in peace Bob 😢😢
I believe this is the only time in range game where the red area didn't go from bottom to top
And because they insist upon doing live-to-tape, that's what they have to do. Nowadays, they'd probably stop filming, pick out a new prize because they hadn't shown it yet (and possibly game), and no one would ever know.
*Honesty's the BEST policy!!*
welp, somebody sat on the switch on the panel. Got to wonder if somebody got chewed out or sent home for this
Probably fired.
Supposedly Bob insisted that they only give away American cars and they complied for quite a while. That truck is smaller than most small cars now and under $9000...1985 was quite a long time ago.
Purple is definitely the California image lol

The contestants were much more dressed up back in the day. Today most of them wear TPIR T-shirts or look like they're about to mow their lawn.
Yes. The contestants on TPIR are dressed presentable back in the 1970s to 1980s. Today's TPIR contestants would wear TPIR t-shirts that's most likely to be made either from a local graphic designer or DIY with accessories from any store (Walmart, Dollar General and other stores).

Personally, I think he would've won anyway if they hadn't shown him the price. I think the percentage of winners from the Range Game are very, very high.
I actually don't.....reason being.........the price was so low on the board here. I think this one was set up to be one of those "forced" losses....remember too this was near the end of the season so they had to be watching the budget heavily. I can imagine this particular win hurt them a fair bit.
@@ajk range game is easy to win if you stop the range finder around the middle of the board.
@@LittleRockElevatorsWell, the minimum on the range that day was set at $6,100-$6,250, meaning Rene would have had to stop the range after it had moved anywhere from $64-$364 if he had stopped the bottom of the range at exactly $6,314 would the game have been played as per usual. Doesn’t seem very likely that he would have stopped it that fast, but we will never know. *🤷*

Someone got fired that day
You beat me to it 😂 somebody was in the unemployment line that day
Barker was so cool and pleasant back then. Unfortunately, as he got older, he did little to hide the fact that he was getting more and more tired of stupid contestants. He has never been totally nasty to anyone but sometimes, he had little patience for contestants who didn’t listen or took forever before giving an answer to a question.
Somebody likely got fired for that one 😆
Nevertheless Bob handled that situation perfectly and is why I will always love his version of this show.
Tu que eres nostradamus or what. Como tu sabe someone gotcfired. Dime los numeros de la loteria to go buy them. Huevetz.
Surprisingly, the producers, Bob,and Drew are all understanding as we all make mistakes in life. One of the models made a mistake a few years ago by revealing the price of a car a bit too early and Drew and the producers told her mistakes happen though she was embarrassed by the matter and thought she was fired or a deduction was going to be taken out of her paycheck for a while but they didn't care it happened and left it go on tv. That's what everyone loves about the price is right. Stuff happens whether its a mechanical mistake, technical mistake, or a human mistake and the producers understand that and give the prize away anyway.
Why would anyone be fired?
😂😂👍👍
If I were the person he bid 1 dollar over to get on stage I would be so pssed/upset.

The price of the car is $6,334 mean should he play the game, he had to stop at the range $6,184-6,334 to $6,334-6,484 to win
Wrong. It’s $6,314, meaning he would’ve had to stop it at $6,164-$6,314 or $6,314-$6,464. If you look closely at where the green arrow is pointed, it’s almost directly between the 10 and 20 above $6,300.
They should have had him play anyways
Bob should have had the contestant play the game anyway!
That would've taken the fun out of the game with the price already revealed.
but...couldn't they still play the game?
I mean, if he know where it's at...that SHOULD make it easy.
Nah, the game was already ruined. Playing the game anyway would have been anticlimactic as Rene would’ve known exactly when to stop it, which isn’t exactly sporting on the contestant’s part (but also not their fault), and Bob would’ve just said “Ahh, who cares? Just light it up, we already know he won the truck.”. Not exactly edge of your seat television.
@@a.grimes4202 it is if the person waits till the exact last second.

@@grizzomble you're probably right, but I'll bet the producers of the show weren't happy.
@@kurtmorris454

@@virgilhilts3924 well they have to pay for the merchandise they give away, so I would assume that having to give away a prize that the contestant didn't outright win because of a workers mishap isn't going to make you (Bob) to happy, not to mention a bit of an embarrassment on live TV. I'm not saying he's going to berate the person responsible, just saying he's not going to be to warm and fuzzy about it. However, I'm sure he realizes mistakes happen.
@@kurtmorris454
You cannot seriously believe this can you?
Clearly you have no concept of how the show works, how it generates revenue, or the amount of revenue it generates.
Commercial slots alone average well into six figures, with 25-30 per show. And that doesn't even include product placement fees, syndication revenue, on and on and on. They could give away literally every prize on the show every day and still make a fortune.
Further, viewers LOVE goof ups like this and it helps bring in new viewers. So in reality each one is equates to paid promotion that they do not have to pay for. Just look at how old this episode is and people are still watching it and talking about it.
An advertising agency can only dream of this sort of publicity, so to think it is in any way a negative is quite frankly silly.
Sociological experiment: out of 100 random contestants, how many would lie and say they didn’t see the price ???
The answer is dependent on the unknown variable as to how many would do so just to throw the game and thus avoid tax liabilities on a $6,314 truck.
René Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing
If they are going to give away prizes to every contestant who cheats or the show messes up, then you should give away all the prizes to said contestants. It's really unfair to have the other contestant who play the games properly not even win a prize when they lose.
