Nice tip for making the job a little easier is to cable tie the spring in the compressed position before removing it, that way reassembly takes a fraction of the time. Let us know how well those warp 9's last.
Hey Kyle if you have enough space to do so, when putting the pin back into the peg, take a screw driver and push it in from the bottom to hold the peg in place against the spring wanting to push it out. Then, just pull it out while pushing the pin down and it will keep everything in place. Let the pin chase the screw driver. Love your videos man.
I've been riding since 1983 with some gaps in there as well and I've never broke a foot peg but I ride more motocross style than enduro. Enduro riders put themselves in a lot more situations where breaking a peg might occur. But I bought a used bike with Tusk pegs on them and while I love Tusk products these pegs are so dam sharp. One of the 1st times I kick started my bike my boot hit the peg and ripped like an inch of the sole of my boot. Putting a pair of stock pegs on my bike today. I don't race so I don't need all that boot grip.
Just had a "get off" on my new yz250x. Bikes perfect except for the smashe left foot peg and bent handlebars haha. I was like noooooooo it's so new!!...as I was eating dirt haha. Great channel man. I just enjoy hearing about dirt bikes.
If you install the pin the wrong way around (like you accidentally did at the beginning) with the cotter pin at the top and front of the peg, it's less likely to get damaged by rocks etc and the cotter pin is also easier to remove in the future...and a touch of grease never hurts ;)
Hey Bud, I am trying to install the ACERBIS foot pegs on a CRF70 for my son. What a pain in the ass with the springs. Watching you, I noticed the small end off the spring goes inside the peg which I though was the way also, but the guy I bought it from said it sits on top. I tried both way and still having issues. I will try again when I get home, but gave up a few times. I can build a whole Bike, but can't figure these Pegs out. LOL...Thanks

I do hate that spring...and since I'm not muscular like you, I just used a couple of allen wrenches. I used one smaller allen wrench and inserted through the opening where the pin would enter...the smaller sized wrench would give me leverage to align the holes. Then I would insert a larger allen wrench on the opposite side as I guided the smaller wrench out at the same time. I then inserted the pin in the proper side as I guided the larger allen wrench out...and boom...done.
Another thing you could do is use a screwdriver to line the footpeg up and pin it in and then as you slide the pin in slide the screwdriver out.. Imo just a friendly tip if you struggle with the footpeg :)

Tory Wilson Not a bad idea. The only issue is that the cotter pins tend to like to bend right by the pin they are going through, so they need to be straightened there to be pulled out of the hole they are in. Either way, new cotter pins each time save you from a lot of headache, you know?

The 1st wreck on a new dirt bike is the worst. You know it's gonna happen but you want to keep the streak going as long as you can.

Is the spring in backwards? the hook is supposed to go over the peg and the straight part goes against the frame.

my foot pegs rotate backwards and forwards. Makes it quite easy to shift too!
If you replace the cotter pin every time you could cut the bent parts off. It would save some time getting them out.
