They probably should bring Hayes back at this point to platoon with Kepler. Kepler/Hayes in left and Marsh/Rojas in center. I wouldn't be mad at that. I'd much rather have Tucker, Soto, or maybe a Rooker in left, but none of those things are happening.
I remember Dave and Topper saying that there were going to be some roster shake ups. They must have meant the roll players and letting solid bullpen arms. They haven’t done anything to make this team better.
I had mo illusion they were going to sign Soto, but to me it was very telling they didn't at least kick the tire and meet with him. I think this season was hinging on trading Bohm and they found out that they way over valued his worth...and if he's not traded he's coming back next year with "this team wanted to trade me" in his head....
Other teams undervalue Bohm and offer nothing but relievers and catching prospects which make us worse. You dont trade everyday players for relievers and you don't trade everyday starting pieces for prospects when youre trying to win.
One way to get this gets fixed is if you work a deal out with The Angels Angels Get- Alec Bohm, Nick Castellanos, Taijuan Walker & Christian McGowan Phillies Get- Mike Trout & cash to cover 40% of salary so Phillies will be paying 22-23 Million a year over the next 6 seasons for Trout. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Move Trout to the corner outfield.. with the injuries I'm not sure he can play CF anymore however his bat would rake a CBP. I get it.. Huge risk with his recent injuries however look at Chris Sale.. same situation with a ton of injuries and he had a resurgence year with Atlanta which resulted in winning a Cy Young. And lets face it... NO ONE wanted Chris Sale.. Now...If Mike Trout can stay healthy hes a top 5 player in baseball & He's the perfect player to hit behind Harper. Batting order 1.Schwarber L DH 2.Turner R SS 3.Harper L 1B 4.Trout R RF 5.Stott L 2B 6.Realmuto R C 7.Marsh CF L (Rojas for LHP) 8.Sosa 3B R (until Aidan Miller) 9.Kepler LF L
Yea I don't mind him. I like some of the pitchers they grabbed also. Luzardo should bring some stability to the starting line up. Wish Hoffman would come back... but we'll see what the bull pen looks like when it's all said and done.
Lol. The people in this comment section are really mad and, quite frankly, a little nuts. They'll be fine. I don't particularly like this off-season thus far either, but it's far from over, and even if they stay where they are, they will be fine. We STILL have the best roster in our division as of today. Calm down, people, it's not even xmas yet. There's still something like 3 months of off-season left. Jeez
@CrimeThinkBeats lol. Do you? The Braves just lost one of their best starting pitchers, and the Mets have 13 players on their roster. If you actually read and comprehended my comment, I said they have the best roster as of TODAY. So, I ask again, do YOU actually follow baseball?
@ryancampbell1847 why does it go downhill from here? Because you said so? Because they're 30? Good players, which most of them are, can play until 36-40. They're still in their prime.
I think it’s unrealistic to think a team can sign a T1 free agent every offseason. This team has brought a lot of excitement to the city the past five years. Yeah, they didn’t win it all. Oh well. Would you rather go back to the pre Harper years? Anyone remember the Sandburg, Mackanin, Kepler years?
I agree with you. Basically, they want to bring back the same lineup and expect different results. Really? On what planet does that happen? And they’re losing 2 of their top relievers and bringing in an unknown. I’m sorry, but this is disappointing. The fact that they can’t get rid of some of their higher paid players is telling. This could be a long season!
Anybody and I mean anybody that knows even the slightest bit about sports and chemistry between a locker room knows that we cannot bring Alec Bohm back no matter what. That ship has sailed so Dave has to get whatever he can for him even if it is something mediocre at this point. Bringing Alec Bohm back into this clubhouse would only derail this team because he is going to have the mindset of he doesn't want to be here because the front office clearly made it known that they wanted to trade him and they couldn't and then that is going to have a trickle down effect on the entire team and how they play. It would be a very awkward and bad situation. Also, not to mention he got benched in the playoffs and his teammates won't forget that so they will constantly question to themselves at the very least whether he can pull his own weight.
@tonyb2109 I think that's possible, but I'd be lying if I said it's a definite. If Atlanta is still dealing with injuries and the Mets can't get more pitching...there's a better chance.
Yeah, signing Harper, Turner, Schwarber, Wheeler two times, Nola and trading for Realmuto have all been miserable failures. Maybe they should clean house and get rid of everybody. They should be ashamed of being in the playoffs the last four years.
Heard you say a few times that Max Kepler is a similar player to Austin hays....NOTHING could be further from the truth! Better contact hitter is Kepler. Better defender is Kepler. Better approach is Kepler. Better power is Kepler. Better player all around is Kepler. Hays is a terrible baseball player and heres the proof and the proof comes from his best year in 2023 when fans voted him into an all star game even though he didn't deserve it but heres some metrics for his PEAK season:41% in batting run value, 25 in baserunning value, 62 in fielding value, 28 in xwOBA, 30 xBA, 45 xSLG, 52 average exit velo, 54 barrell, 46 hard hit, 18 LA sweet spot, unqualified for bat speed and sweet spot but can assume its not good when you look at the other numbers, for chase, whiff,k, and BB he is below 34 for all, and lastly his range is in the 46% while his arm metrics are in the red. All of Max Keplers 2024 numbers which were SIGNIFICANTLY DOWN from career norms due to injury but even then the metrics are just as good if not better than peak season Austin Hays. 2023 Hays would make sandwiches for 2023 Kepler and its not debatable because Kepler actually provides something. To sum it up: Austin Hays is a mediocre outfielder at best with mediocre range but a very good arm, he's a complete nobody in the batters box because he doesnt square anything up, he strikes out alot, doesnt walk, chases alot, and when he actually makes contact its rarely ever a hard hit ball and when he gets on base he literally clogs the base paths because he's a trash baserunner. His amazing arm gives him more fielding value than what he provides because wtf does your arm matter when you have no range and arent going to get to alot of balls. Austin Hays will be out of baseball in the next 2 years he is absolutely dreadful at every single thing that matters, and the same cant be said about kepler even when he is banged up. heres sources/ evidence: Austin Hays: baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/austin-hays-669720?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb Max Kepler:baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/max-kepler-596146?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb switch the years and youll see that Hays shouldn't even be using injury as excuse while in the same breath you can see something dramatic happened to Kepler which definitely points to injury when you look at the 2023 and 2022 numbers.
Dave, stop messing with our hopes and just tell us we're headed for a retool. We have maybe 2 years left with our window, and it's about to slam shut on our collective fingers. Time to poop or get off the toilet.
I disagree. I think we win the devision again. We just need another starter. I don't know about this guy from Minnesota he's got good stats seems to have a good stick. He's not the answer though. I've been a Phillies fan since Johnny Calison played and it's been alot of ups and downs. They have a good club right now. Just need to add to it. Replacing Bome isn't the answer either. I saw him make some Brooks Robinson plays this past season. Get another starter.
More wasted money. The window for winning a world series has passed. The roster is right now worse than last year Dave doesn't know how to make a trade. We have a better chance of finishing 4th in the division than 1st
I think people are angry at the wrong thing. This team is spending money like coke addict. The problem is how much money is allocated to people that aren't playing up to the value of their contracts. The Phillies almost could fill a whole 9 man lineup where every player is making over $20 million a year.
Philly fans have gotten so used to a big signing every offseason that when they don’t, some fans pitch a bitch fit. They don’t see/understand the salary tax effects or what has to be giving up when signing a T1 free agent.
They probably should bring Hayes back at this point to platoon with Kepler. Kepler/Hayes in left and Marsh/Rojas in center. I wouldn't be mad at that. I'd much rather have Tucker, Soto, or maybe a Rooker in left, but none of those things are happening.

They can sign a big contract they have the highest pay role in baseball

This team will struggle to be .500 for the 2025 season. Bring up the prospects and let's start rebuilding
not 500, we’ll be around 90-96 wins
Agreed.,
As of rn, I see us as a 87 win team again.
@@PatRyan-c7zagain? We won 95 games last year. We'll be fine. People are waaayy too dramatic.

Shopping at TEMU for our lineup. Pathetic. We fill that building every night. We deserve better

3rd place team at best. I see them having no fight this year, especially after not trying to improve this team.
They need to give Trevor Bauer a shot.
Their payroll is 300M ...
Kinda salty Hoffman may not be back. We need bullpen arms bad.

Kepler is the 2025 version of Whit Merrifield. Make of that what you will.
*a lot *Bohm
There’s always next year……….
Big splash no, and bargain bin shopping once again. Bring back Ruben at least he can make a trade!
Trade Dombrowski and Taijan Walker for a new clubhouse vending machine
So let half the bullpen walk and replace them with project guys. Great. I think the not even gonna be top 2 in our conference lol

I don’t trust Dave and have lost faith in him. Time for John Middleton to let him go
Dombrowski is a nothing GM without unlimited funds.
Bro you crying everyday
Let’s see what they do
Jesus
They will do? Dude r u 🧠 dead? Really?
The PHILLIES have another problem; their stars are getting old.
