tried these tips for my iPhone 7 when the battery kept dying on me more than once a day and WOW these work!!!! huge improvement... like unbelievable. just bought an iPhone 11 and this is the first video I came back to
thank you so much, seriously. i had my iPhone SE 2 for only 8 months and my battery life is at 90% now.. and i got the “Your battery’s health is significantly degraded” notification in battery settings. thankfully 90% isn’t the worst for 8 months of use, but now i want to be extra careful. especially because of that “Important Battery Message”… i check my battery life daily because my last iPhone died from the battery just stopping working.. so it’s a fear of mine lol. your tips listed in the video were seriously so helpful and i changed almost everything! now i’m hoping my battery life will be more sustained.
I just got an iPhone 13 Pro few days ago. Planning to use it for a long time so I’m trying to take really good care of it. Thanks for the tips and also explaining what each feature does so I can curate my phone to my personal preferences 👏🏻
Great video guys. Just one thing if you want Optimized Battery Charging to work properly you need the following turned on: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customisation. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.
Worked for me! Dramatic battery improvement after just one day with these settings! Thanks guys! By the way, are you saying I should throw away my fast charger cables?! JW
If anybody see’s this, 1. I love you. 2. We have amazing computers in our pockets, don’t take it for granted & 3. I used Reduce White Point literally all the time, and have it set to triple click the power button to enable or disable. It’s amazing for nighttime, or just, daily indoor use. My brightness is up 100% but so is reduce white point. Reason display is @ 100% is cause I have an iPhone 12 and have issues with Inky Blacks unless the display brightness is up most of the way. Apple hasn’t addressed this & this is my first OLED display from Apple.
I hope I will never have to watch a video like this again, I watched your older video on this topic years ago and it never worked for me, I ended up learning how to replace the battery and it saved me a lot of time.
You guys are great. I've just bought an iPhone 13 Pro and this video has really really helped me in setting it up and to understand some of the endless and complicated features. The one proviso that others have also mentioned is that you could maybe slow down slightly. Yet its easy to just pause or go back a bit and you do have to get through so much information for many people! I have definitely subscribed so that I can also view other videos from yourselves as required. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I changed my settings and I turned off location services all together- don’t really need it unless I go out. As per your previous video, I am going to wait a few days and then if my battery keeps draining then I am going to reset it (after I back everything up). When I turned off my phone it was 87%, I waited a few minutes and turned it back on and it dropped to 60%. On another occasion my battery was almost completely charged and when I checked my email, the screen froze and when it came back up the battery was 2%!!! And finally, does it matter if I charge phone using a non Apple (generic) cord? I’ve never had any issues so far. THANK YOU!
When the battery jumps around like that, that’s when a DFU restore (link in description) can be a good idea, because it’s either a physical battery problem or the software on the phone that displays the battery percentage isn’t talking correctly to the battery itself. If you go to the Apple Store, they’ll try a DFU restore before doing anything physical. So if that keeps happening, try the whole DFU and restore from an iCloud backup, and you may end up fixing it. About cables - cables themselves rarely cause a problem. Non-Apple chargers, however, if they have a high Amperage rating, can cause battery problems because they try to push too much power in there, too fast. Be careful of anything over 2.1A. Hope this helps and thanks for your support. We’re here for you!
One question related to optimized battery charging. Apple suggesting (in their site) these settings must be turned on to work optimized battery charging: Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple. Here are a list of settings that must be enabled: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customization. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.
I have an older iPhone and iPhone 6 yeah it’s ancient and I was noticing some battery problems recently so I just did all the tips that you recommended and I will try it for a week it’s very interesting and I was kind of shocked at how many things were turned on that did not need to be running !!!!great video!!!
Dunno about some of the things really ... like some of them working only when others are left ON. For example “ optimised battery charging works ONLY if “ precise location is ON” which drains ton of power on its own and kinda counterproductive for the purpose of battery health. Any opinions on this ?

Very helpful I was able to go live, and I do see that you both are very knowledgeable with iPhones please I have two iPhones I can see RUclips live together on one but on the other one on the same RUclips account, I can not see the feature, any ideas what I should do?
Dark mode only saves battery usage if you have an OLED display wherein individual pixels can be illuminated instead of the whole screen. In an LED display, the backlight is on regardless of dark or light mode. You should be telling folks to reduce display brightness instead. Dark mode can also increase eye strain because your pupils have to dilate to account for the darker display.
Thank you guys for this useful info But I have a question you said on this tip 6:30 to turn on reduce motion and I play games with my iPhone by turning it on dose it effect my gaming experience?
nothing will upgrade the maximum capacity of the battery unless you change the battery itself, but these help make the most of your maximum capacity :)
I LOVE you guys! Please can you slow down a little getting to an from these apps. I realize that most of you are novices but some of us aren't. Thank you.
I appreciate you guys a lot. Lots of good info. I have question: the other day, I opened my iPhone and almost all the storage had reached capacity-and I hadn’t done anything that would’ve added memory. It seemed like a bug came in and multiplied my media files and the “other” files. Have you heard of this and know what to do? Thanks.
I went through #1 through #16 and made the adjustments that would impact me. Found the “Dark” mode to my liking. Also not keeping the phone on “Neve” and changing to 3 minutes. The next day while driving the sound through the speakers was so loud at 30 mph or above couldn’t hear music. The only change to my iPhone 7 Plus was a change in one of the 1 thru 16. Any thoughts? Should I go back and undo your recommendations?
Your bank wants to be 'always on' because if your phone is nowhere near a purchase on your debit or credit card it gets flagged. Before this feature if I went into a 'high risk' area, I had to call my Credit Union and tell them to enable the debit card for that location. Now, my location is available without any input from me. As an OTR truck driver, this made a difference before I realized that ever using a debit card, except at an ATM for withdrawal, was far more risky than using a credit card.
if you are a user of optimised battery charging, it will not work if you turn those system services off. you need significant locations, system customisation and networking and wireless as far as i’m aware.

One question related to optimized battery charging. Apple suggesting (in their site) these settings must be turned on to work optimized battery charging:

Didn’t realize White Point was something even related to display. Always wondered why the white was so bright even when I reduced brightness to 35%.
Also on non OLED displays, dark mode might propel you to use the screen brighter because it's harder to see things during the day.
