It really matters not someone's skin colour if their beliefs are closer to that of those who have shown a dislike towards people of colour, ask yourself this, would Patel or Javed be in the positions they have been given had their beliefs not been what it is, far-right, ??? I personally believe they've sold there souls for that pot of gold, they cannot have the best interest of black or brown people as an agenda, if they did they certainly wouldn't be in the position they are now, this by default has become a win win for Boris, he can now claim to have ethnic minorities in his cabinet, knowing full well they play to his way of thinking they play to his narrative. This is all a game a dirty game, commonly referred to as dirty politricks.

That's the thing about Neoliberalism/Neoconservatism. They're all about ethnic and sexual diversity, but only as long as you're rich. If you're not, you are less than animals no matter who you are. This is why our "diversity" revolution of the past few decades conveniently hasn't included the disabled, physically and mentally, the elderly, nor any person who believes in the idea of community and giving back what you get.

while skin color/ ethnic background diversity is the box checking goal, I wonder if a better goal would be thought diversity. A person raised in privilege is going to have a different approach to problems than a person raised in poverty. We need more engineers and scientists in the decision making process.

As a person of colour in the UK, I’ve been referred to as mixed breed, half caste, mixed race etc and don’t really appreciate further labels. However, African American scholars such as Kimberlè Crenshaw and Joy De Gruy Leary have been highlighting the toxicity of the Eurocentric concept of race and the impact it has on non Europeans for decades.

What matters first and foremost is that they're Tories. Their ethnicity is entirely a secondary matter. The truth I would speak to them is: 'You are there more to represent the interests of the British financial elite - the 1% - more than the ordinary working person of your own or similar ethnic background.' If Warsi remains a member of the Tory party, it makes no difference to me whether she identified racism or not. She's still a Tory.
