  • This is a quick overview of the basics of projector sewing. I highly recommend joining the facebook group Projectors for sewing:
    / 481078582801085
They have heaps of great tips and tricks and get started guides.
Programs to use are pdf stitcher, a free open source program, as is Inkscape.
I have an Ultra Short Throw (UST) EB - 595Wi that I got from marketplace for $250

Great encouraging summery, Just found a used UST and excited to set up upon its arrival. I actually think the PDF printing and putting together is what stops me from starting some projects. Still working on adjusting patterns to fit so this is fabulous to just trace off the parts of the pattern that need adjusting and directly cut the rest. Cheers from Canada.

Oh thank you!! That feels like very high praise indeed coming from the lady that I learnt to set up my projector from! Hopefully I didn’t forget too much.

The PFS group started end of 2019. I joined very early 2020 and was up and running before the pandemic started (here) in March 2020.

What type of stand is the projector on?

This is actually a custom stand my father in law built me. It is very handy!

Hi! I'm just getting started in the projector process, and from what I've read I thought that if you have a long table like that, the projector has to be on the long side? I have a similar table size and setup as you, and it would be much nicer to keep it at the end against the wall like that. Thanks!!

Hello!! You can set it up like I have, it just means you have a lot of ‘wastage’ light on the sides. I’ve nearly always set mine up from the side cause it works better for me. I hope you’ve found a set up that works for you!

Thanks for sharing. I'm also very interested in how to digitally play pattern tetris for efficient fabric/ pattern layouts.
I'm pretty technically savvy, but I haven't quite worked out the how, particularly bringing only the layer file i need from pdf to inkscape.
Can you suggest any resources for this?
