I’m not gonna lie, I was expecting a huge difference in opinions.. but I agree with almost everything you listed (personally thought Sw/Sh was C-tier at best). Great vid gamer
I'd have put USUM a little higher but other than that, yeah, this is a great list which I mostly agree with. Glad to see some SwSh love too. I really hope with time, people start to understand and appreciate it more, just like what happened with Gen 5.
I hardcore agree on the placement for SD/SH. The characters FELT like characters. Subtle animations in how they acted played into their personality more, and it featured a rival that near the end I did not want to win the battle against. SD/SH hit all the right buttons and I loved it. I also liked that the 1st and 2nd gens were given fair opinions and rated what I think comparatively well for the whole series. Good games, not the greatest, but the firsts.
I wish Crystal/HGSS had fixed the progression and Pokemon availability issues that plagued Gold and Silver. Gen 2 and their remakes were a C tier playthrough inside of an S tier sandbox. The music, towns, map, and just overall vibe of Gen 2 were immaculate.
I stopped playing Pokémon after gold and silver I was about 11 years old thought Pokémon was lame and I was getting to old lol. Here I am as an adult working in IT and all my work buddies are taking off to get scarlet and violet no joke half my crew was out for Pokémon and it got me back in. So here I come from gen two straight into gen 9 needless to say I was so lost as the sheer amount of Pokémon and features were overwhelming. I beat violet and had fun so I decided let’s play all of them and catch up I’m currently on x and I have got to say my list playing from start to finish is Pretty on par with this. Maybe a bad take but my least favorite was gen 3 so far with my favorite being gen 5 black 2 was the best story wise I have seen a Pokémon game so far the villains seemed so intense compared to other games and character interactions grabbed me more as an adult playing Pokémon than a child black gave me an old school final fantasy vibe to how the villains acted like kefka in ff6 it was so much better than some these kind of childish kiddy villains of other entries like violet lol I loved the game but the villains were a bunch of kids that were sad they got bullied it was kind of goofy and lame but black and white and the sequels brought it.
Gald you got back into it. There's tons of ways to enjoy the games like I really like Scarlet and Violet form the competitive side of things and the gimmick is really fun. Hard agree with you though Black/White 2 really brought it
@@saltydolphin I just finished black 2 a couple days ago story line was great the pokemon in the game were far better than in the first entries of white and black. The only two-point I can have about white and black is I did not like the starter Pokémon from generation five as much as I do some of the other entries they were probably my least favorite, but the game made up for it with other neat designs of Pokémon in the region. Now I did skip playing emerald and platinum because I just wanted to play at least one of each of the mainline entries leading up to violet, which was the one beat but I heard emerald and platinum were really good so I plan on going back and playing those after I beat every single mainline entry. I know a lot of people do not like this take but generation three I just did not get into as much. I guess it was because the region itself I did not like the map. The Pokémon were amazing but the map I was really not into.
yeah...I'd put sword and shield right at the bottom. dynamax I hate it. Leon does everything cool and much rather play as him then a dumb kid who is actually treated as a kid. While the gyms are great, the story sucks. world feels empty. though apparently sword and shield is great for competive, competive players are always going to be the minority
Whereas I agree that Leon handles the "story" I most certainly disagree with the world feeling empty. Wild area and overworld encounters are something I wont be able to play without now. Every city was really cool and fun to explore. Dynamax gets too much hate IMO, best gimmick they've done.
@@saltydolphin wild area (not counting dlc) was ugly and bland. Overworld encounters were done better in let's go and legends Arceus since let's go had less space to fill this makeing it less empty feeling and. Sure some of the city's we're pretty but they all felt empty, like with a strong breeze a carbord cutout would fall down. One was literally a hallway that doubled as a gym. Dynamax might be the most balanced gimmick they had but it was the least fun. Mega's and Z moves you always had the opportunity to use, but dynamax, if you don't use it when you get the chance too, too bad theirs an opportunity gone. What you didn't need to? Too bad. Guess you'll have to go into the multiplayer content to use it. Dynamax moves also felt really lame overall.
Whats games belong in your "S rank" ?
gold/silver cuz they were my first and for the nostalgia
HeartGold SoulSilver
I have huge respect for Salty's opinions, even if they're wildly different than mine, because he has good, thoughtful reasons for them.
best comment ever
Comments are good for the RUclips algorithm.
If usum had the sun/Moon story and all the best features if sun/Moon I'd unironically put them in S tier

Oh, he went there

This is an “S tier” take

Very hot takes but I agree with almost all of them 😂 Pokemon Emerald is top tier imo
For lil guy
Wow, this guy knows a lot about pokemon games! Anyone else think he should run Kaizo IronMon? saltdGAS
Sword and Shield is a better XY and i completely agree with every of your opinions!!!!!
Great video. Missing epic outtro music though so 3/10
Next time!
Put B2W2 in S tier? Man, that gets a sub from me.

Did it for the little guy💞
EMERALD GANG
Get a load of this guy!!! If you think this is bad, just wait until the controller takes!!!
ARON
Run the aron

Dynamax is overhated. Definitely better than z-moves and megas, those things were garbage for battles.
Plz don't play bdsp man it's not worth ur time or money trust me I bought it on release & it's a 30-40$ max, played it 2x to make sure I was right
lmao I did play it. I just cut that footage cause the chat and I were all over the place and wasnt good for video format.
@@saltydolphin oh ok, wat did u think of bdsp lmfao
Dynamax bad though.
