    Dude, not going to say it saved my life, as I've done brakes on many vws, but this tiguan had had nothing but surprises. Thank you for the straight forward video and knowledge! Eased my mind going into this and fixed the "bad side" on the thing before I finished the play through a second time. Thanks! 😊

    Great video. My friend has a 2016 VW Tiguan that mechanic replaced front brake pads, but did not replace the wire clip back on the driver side. My friend was constantly hearing a metallic sound coming from the driver side. Turned out it was the missing wire clip, which provides some tension to keep that noise from occurring. Thanks for a very good video.

    Great video. Very similar to my 2019 R-Line Passat, although I did not have a brake wear sensor. This video is a lot more representative of my Passat than the video I found that was reportedly a 2019 R-Line Passat.

    After replacing my front brake pads, I am getting a clicking noise when I apply the brakes. Seems to be coming from the brake pads slapping against the caliper. I am unsure why it is doing this now when it did not do it before. I am using genuine VW pads. Are the clips intended to prevent the pads from shifting? If so, do you think replacing the clips may help?

      Thanks for reaching out. Yes, clips are indeed meant to keep brake pads in place and prevent noises such as the one you're experiencing. Replacing the clips might solve your problem. We're dedicated to providing the resources to empower car owners like you at YOUCANIC.

    2:31. The allen wrench bolt is 7 mm. this is very important, because 7 mm is a very rare occurrence. I used a torx wrench instead.

    Got an estimate from a mechanic for 700$ front and 600$ rear pad and rotor replacement.
    Now with a buddy I’m doing it myself for under 400$ for all brakes.
    Is the caliper depressing tool necessary or can you do it with something else in the tool box?
    Thanks for the simple video walkthrough!

    Will it be necessary to bleed the brakes after a job like this?

    • @sebster2525
      @sebster2525 Год назад +2

      No need to bleed, as long as you aren't removing the caliper's brake lines.

      No, this doesn’t introduce any air in the system so no bleeding necessary. Just pump the brake pedal a few times after the job to ensure the piston has compressed the pads against the rotor before driving. That simple 👍🏻

    What tools are needed to complete the job?

      7mm Allen bit for skid pins, 21 mm or 13/16” socket for the two large carrier bolts, steel brush or wire wheel on a drill to clean mating surfaces, and the hardware and lube comes with the brake pads when you order them. A hammer helps if the rotor is stuck to the hub from rust. Also need a Torx 30 bit or socket bit to remove / install small rotor set screw.
