Laugh at Riley at your peril. The four defensive coaches he hired this off season are excellent at their craft. SC still lacks elite defensive players, but not elite defensive coaches who will bring out the best in the players they have.

In '23 he coached the outland winner and another cat that was Big XII defensive lineman of the year. Kevin Peoples - edge. Broyles semifinalist. B2B 1st team All SEC DEs Corey Raymond - secondary. The godfather of DBU. Previously played and coached at LSU. In 10 years he coached 7 1st team all americans. 4 1st round picks. 14 DBs drafted. Jake Olsen - safeties. Coached LBs last two years at Mizzou. Had a linebacker that was all SEC two years running. Butkus finalist. Blake Baker - DC/LB. Previously coached at LSU. He took the mizzou defense from #110+ in '21 to top 50 in '22 and top 30 in '23. Not saying they are better than what riley brought in. That is one impressive staff CBK brought to LSU. They all have deep seeded football roots (playing and coaching) to LA. They are already paying dividends on the recruiting trail.

A Penn St fan can move to California and still be a Penn St fan, just because u r in SoCal doesn't mean u have to root for the SoCal teams. If u asked a born and raised SoCal kid who their favorite teams are they would say the local teams, but because we have a more diverse population we have different fans.

Simple formula for USC to win. Score 40+ points, so just match last year. Hold opponents to an average of mid 20 points with much better defense. Caleb was far overrated last year and actually hurt the offense. He has amazing athletic talent, but failed as a leader and held onto the ball way too long. Riley's QB this year will run his offense, not a schoolyard offense. Big mistake to underrate this team.
