One thing I found was you don't want the wrong sending unit on the engine . My truck was equipped with a 0-120 psi gage im thinking either that or its a 0-100 gauge and the engine i put in it had a 0-60 it was burying the needle. I added a mechanical gauge and ended up putting the higher rated pressure sending unit . They are almost perfectly matched .

    Thanks for the video!

Well that answers another question I was gonna ask ya!
So temp gauge will also peg out when disconnected from the sender when the truck is “on”?

I cant find anywhere that says what the idle oil pressure should be. I'm at my wits end with the truck and as much as I like it I'm thinking of ditching it. So much effort and money just to keep the damn thing running.

Anything over 10 pounds at hot idle is acceptable. Generally you see around 20-30. They will frustrate you until you take the time to go through all the things that need attention. Driving them before it's all been done is what causes the headache.

Ok thank you. I'm replacing the oil sending unit now too and it's not easy to get to haha.
Edit: I just replaced and checked a new oil pressure Guage and tested it as you've shown and get like 6.8 volts. I read in the other comments that these are sometimes bad out of the box? Both my old and new gages max at 60.

are you gonna do a video on servicing the winch as well? i saw you have your winch off. what pressure is good, mines at 30psi when running, i run 10w40 rotella, might just run straight 50 weight oil

Someone else asked that and I most likely won't. I'll be upgrading to an 18,000 lb Warn electric.
      30 psi is acceptable.

What did it turn out to be the gauge or sender? Or did you replace both and didn't care which was bad lol..

Both are bad. The replacement sender at least moves the gauge sometimes to let me know there is pressure though.

Sounds like my luck. Reminds me of why I like mechanical oil pressure gauges. Almost all my engines/equip have an additional mech oil pressure gauge on the fire wall, just to be safe. Parts fall out when there's no oil pressure.

Would it not be a good idea to add a mech gauge teed or inline with the oil feed line on the bottom of the IP?

how do you wire a car radio up in the duece when there voltage is 24 instead of 12

I've been having issues with my oil pressure readings. I thought I had a bad sender, so I changed it out with a new one, but the gauge in the truck pegs out to the max shortly after I start the truck and it stays there. The truck runs fine though. You think I might have a bad gauge? It looks brand new to me.

Pegged gauge can only be bad sender or bad connection between gauge and sender.

But gauges do go bad often. Also very common for brand new gauges and senders to be bad right out of the package.

Will an aftermarket mechanical gauge fit in the stock location? If so what size?

Yes. Plenty of people have installed 1-7/8" or 2" gauges.
