Why would anyone do this? Its $400 per day if you manage to cruise every day of the year which is pretty unrealistic. Cruise less days and the price per day goes up even higher. You can do better than that booking individual cruises and not have to worry about trying to cruise the entire year.
It's clearly an upper class luxury. If you have to question the price, then it probably isn't marketed to you, anyway.

How do you know that the other commenter - @asimplewanderer6101, worked on a cruise ship? We worked on a Carnival ship for fun many years ago - but not for the money.
And yeah if people have money to spend, why not do this for a year? We won't. But we were just showing what options are out there for those who want to give it a try.
Ha and speaking of "luxury" cruise lines - we tried on last week and it fell way short of the mark!
