  • Thank you for watching.
Below is a video introduction from Mr. B, the filmer.
This is footage of the Senmo Main Line filmed on October 3, 1983.
Please note that the conditions were bad and windy that day, so there are some unsightly parts (the sound of the wind due to the strong wind could not be erased).
The first footage is the express "Shiretoko" operated by Kiha 56 series between Hamakoshimizu and Kitahama.
Next is the exchange of a freight train pulled by a DE10 with a local train of Kiha 56 + Kiha 22 at Hamakoshimizu Station.
The footage from 07:06 is a mixed train pulled by a DE10 in double-headed units. Even though it was more than 40 years ago, mixed trains were rare.
I followed this train by car and filmed it.
The footage from 14:36 was supposed to be a freight train, but it seems there was no cargo, so it was a double-unit single locomotive being sent back to the depot.
This footage was taken in 1983 using a Victor GZ-S3 video camera and a portable VHS video deck.
