Pro Tip - When the you experience an air bubble problem with the tube there is a method to fix it. Take the tube out of the caulking gun and tap the bottom on the floor about 10-20 hard taps (until the round puck that pushes the caulking out slides all the way down) This will bring all the air back to the top of the nozzle and fix the leaking problem !
You can also poke a tiny hole in the back and put some dish soap on it, and the air will all come out the back
Store the tubes vertically with the nozzle up. The gentle vibration in the van, especially during the summer, should see the air bubble go to the top. I find that grip control, ie stop squeezing a set distance before you reach the end of your caulking run so that there is less pressure left in the tube, helps. Also I press the pressure release a couple of times, once at the end of the run and a second time before I put the gun down.
We just started using a PPG product. It’s very thick and is easy to work with. It’s still easy to work with even though it has great consistency. I end up wasting less caulking. That cheap Sherwin Williams caulking is like water. Can’t stand working with that stuff. Streaks easy. The thicker consistency stuff doesn’t leave streaks, also. It’s really nice stuff.
Yep, Wont use alex plus anymore because of the air bubbles. Had every single tube in a box start squirting out by itself when it was in my gun

Compressing the air bubble(s). The bubble(s) are now pressurized and will push on the caulk until the bubble pressure is less then the than the push back of the caulk or reaches equilibrium.(the same force of the bubble as the caulk has.

Pro painter here. You are absolutely right about the air bobbles. It's compressed air inside the tube when you squeeze the trigger. You can take the tube out of the gun and the goo still comes out of the tube. I noticed also, that once in a while, during applications a pop of air comes out and the problem subsists. By the way, that is the best caulking gun on the market that I know of. It's worth the price.
What is the make and model of the gun you say is best on market? I'm Interior trim carpenter and looking for the best dripless gun available. Thx.
Buy the Tajima caulking (sealant) guns! Not only are they more robust but they have guns made for different caulking (sealant) viscosities. I only had one dripless caulking gun and iit broke after one week! My Tajima just keep going like champs. You can also put a pin hole in the plunger inside the caulking tube - point of sharp awl
Im dealing with a bubble in one of those tubes right now. Thanks for addressing this. Its getting rough. Im redoing the whole house and needed a few tubes and its pretty common. On a box or 12 i habe stored upright witb tip up. Its been a pita to deal with the drip over my hard wood flores. Im trying that tower brand.
It seems to me that the manufacturers are doing it on purpose. So many companies make lousy caulk that just drips all over the place. Forces you to use more so they can sell more. I've only found one tube so far that is any good and it costs four times as much as the other stuff. Home Depot dap caulking is garbage. That stuffed drips like an ice cream on a super hot summer day even in a dripless gun. Makes the job almost impossible.

So l still do not know how to stop the leaking after watching. I'm in the process of caulking a lot of woodwork right now and most of the caulking ended up on me from leaks, not where l needed it to go. Just gave up. Help!!
Use the same gun. Never had caulking spit on me. I’ve had it keep running out sometimes, but never anything major. We do use great caulking. Anyway… you’re putting pressure on the air. That compressed air will try to expand, hence why it keeps coming out.

We can't get dripless in England, caulk guns have a button on that you have to press to to stop the flow, they are larger as well wich can be a pain but they take bigger tubes

If I'm needing to calk the baseboards cause they are old and what not, do I use white before then tape and clear calk?
I'm guessing to use white to fill in the gaps and make it like an exciting wall/board...then tape and clear calk but wanna make sure
Why would you need to clear caulk? You can use clear or white, I guess. Let it dry. Paint the baseboards one day, then tape off the base the next day and knife it down. Then paint your walls. Just don’t flood the tape cause it will bleed most likely. I’ve taped accent walls in the corners from floorboard to ceiling. Then I’ll put a very, very small amount of caulking to lock the edge of the tape. Just enough to see that it’s wet. I’ll do that if I don’t have frog tape. Works great. If you’re not painting the baseboards, just use white caulking if the base is white. Let dry 24 hours or so, then tape the base off. Leave a 1/16-1/8 gap from the wall with the tape. You don’t want to tape right on top of the caulking. You’ll end up with a crappy line and a bunch of bleeds.
Hahaha- don't blame it on the gun, blame it on the bullet😂. Yep, that really annoyed me when I bought my first back in 2k or so, I just figured I had a learning curve. It was indeed way better than the old style, so I put up with "semi-dripless".. but this makes a lotta sense. I Love my dripless'es, you've finally convinced me to try tower:)
Air is extremely compressible. Caulking is not. Under pressure, the air will compress like a spring. Even when the push rod "backs off" in the dripless gun, it's not enough to release all the pressure built up in the air bubble, so the air bubble continues to push the caulk out of the tip until it is at normal atmospheric pressure.
I just had to stop the video and see what Romans 10:11 said, as I didn't remember it. I read the Bible from my app on my phone every morning, do that before I do anything else. Thanks for the great video! I have had pops before from air bubble but bought a Dripless ETS2000 as at my age, it's much easier to get thicker caulk out and into the right places. I hadn't thought about the air bubbles but it makes perfect sense. Just ordered some Tower caulk from your store, to see how it performs. I'll also try to use up the rest of the DAP that I have by a suggestion from another person. Tapping it on the floor a few times, to get the air to go to the top. I'm tired of caulk oozing out of the gun!! ☺God Bless!!
Wonder if you could stick a very skinny coffee straw all the way through to the bottom of the tube to try to release any air??

Possibly not as you have to force out air till solid material excits.
We never have air bubbles in any adhesives here in New Zealand possibly because most companies are high quality European like Sikaflex etc

If the air bubble is in the middle you will get caulking dripping out of both ends. I only tried it once.
DIYers or even Pros are going to complain when it doesn't work and that's because they are butthurt about spending on something that is useless to them. The funny thing about it is that they are fairly priced and most people don't even need to use high ratio guns to do the work. You can get something decent for around 10 dollars if you know exactly what you are buying. Edit: I was surprised to try a newborn that claims to be Drip Free and I compared my ETS 2000 and to my surprise the 212 HTD was pretty consistent at been drip free. ETS2000 will probably stop after like an inch, but despite saying that, the Dripless gun is by no means a bad gun; it's light weight and has a slightly higher thrust ratio than the 212HTD and the price is about the same. Trying to get my hands on an ETS3000 and possibly the 5000.
I like using the metal HDX caulking gun brand from Home Depot, it’s easier for me to use than the plastic ones.
Newborn! best gun no doubt! Tape your caulking so it doesn't move. Pop the release and it doesn't drip. Keep your spounge, water bucket and wet rag handy...
I started making a line with a permanent marker to I know where the top of my cut is. Works great. Just makes it easier and faster with it there. Taping the tube works too. I prefer the way I mentioned.
Purchased a dripless caulk gun from you, it's not pushing the caulk seems to be stripped is there a fix for this?

$16 is expensive? Maybe I'm buying my stuff at the wrong place. Our non-dripless caulking guns are $60-80 for just the regular bottles. We don't even use the big big ones which are probably a multiple as expensive. The problem with drip-less (it's not drip-never). There is still pressure in the bottle. Even when you relieve the pressure which our guns do with a little metal tab, that plastic insert that moves along in the bottle doesn't retract. So there is always going to be some drippage depending on how thick your goo is. We use primarily 100% mildew resistant silicone. Even with our expensive guns, drips will always be there when you lay down that gun. Unless you are squeezing out really thick stuff in the middle of winter, I'm not sure it can be completely avoided.

Punctur the back of the tube… no more drips…gone. You have to clean the push rod after, but I can live with that… and that’s with a regular gun and any gun.

what kind of air bubbles are you talkin´about? It is about the pressure what you are creating with the gun´s "back" surface and can´t push it away through the small hole in the end....
I dont think I've ever had a caulk tube that didnt have a drip causing air bubble in it.
I'd assume mfg's do it on purpose to waste product causing you to buy more.
