The king of reviewers. Relaxing, authentic and informative.
"Loads of ambient business" is why I buy synths.
Well said. My thoughts exactly
Its why i drive around at night hoping to find the long tunnels that we don't seem to have in Central California. But dammit I keep trying.
Gotta have your own private orchestra sometimes yeah mon
Loads of ambient business should be the name of this channel.
This actually almost seems worth the price, which I don't think I've thought about a synth this expensive before.
Yeah I think it’s worth saving up for.
DAMN Arturia, I didn´t expect this to sound THAT good. mindblowing! also the addition of digital fx was a great decision
With all due respect to Arturia, the Brute is lacking in the EFX department. I just throw Valhalla Supermassive (a free plugin) on there, and BAM! Amazing. But I really do wish the Brute's EFX were as detailed as the one for this 6-Poly
what a beast, thank you Nick as always ... kine to wait for your review
It's amazing how far Arturia have come.
This sounds great, some of the sounds reminded of the big Kurzweils, only without the necessary physics degree to get your head round the whole VAST thing.
Nice. The effects are especially crazy. I like it.
That machine has a lot of soul. They’ve built emotion into this. Something you can really love. Excellent stuff.
I know you will come up with the only patches I actually want to use for a song. Can't wait for your review!
The morphing is something I always wanted and to see it on an analog it's just great, we might be seeing some Matrixbrutes on the cheaper side.
That’s sounding exceptionally good!
I don't know, but a interesting synth
That A/B morph function is a great idea and really straightforwardly implemented.
Looking forward to hearing more 😎
Impressive, can't wait for the review and to try it in person.
What a huge surprise, never heard about this coming out! I like the sound of this! This is the second synth surprise this week!
BOOM! I'm really curious how that wooden ribbon works.. never seen one done that way before. I was worried it was just a holder for Nick's vape for a bit
I went from the matrix to modular, this could almost make me go back again. Reasonably priced for what you get too.
You bastard, give me your bank account
The morph feature actually seems a lot like the one on the Yamaha DX200, which was one of the best things about that weird FM groovebox (along with an actual filter).
Thought the same!
Arturia seems to be on a roll, Keystep 37 and now a PolyBrute - who needs NAMM to release new stuff!
TheHandofLenin don’t forget the Microfreak Vocoder edition!
i did not expect this coming!!! 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 WOOOW
This synth looks really nice! There are so many great synths to choose from these days.
Very much looking forward to the full review. If only it had polyphonic aftertouch (or a keybed like Osmose).
looks and sounds great for live performance. very innovative. price is reasonable too.
looking forward to the full review
Great synth! Great Nick!
Everyone is having fun with this machine today!
Very nice sounding synth, lovely concept of a-b morphing. Of course you're able to make it sing :)
I like your own take on the rack brute behind you.
7:59 "Scandy-mood". Really nice. Beautiful motion, reflections and ambience, oh my.
I think this really is the synth we've all been waiting for.
not my:-).
Mmmmm indeed. That's the most appealing polysynth I've seen. Sounds amazing and the control setup looks good.
...I can't afford it though...
The Sunrizer synth for iPad does the AB morphing and it’s one of the best iPad synths for sure. What I find useful about the morph is not so much morphing between the two patches but rather the unexpected static sweet spot between the two you often discover.
That seems great ! I'm really looking forward to the generate function too, to discover new sounds/patches.
Really nice. If it had poly aftertouch, I'd be in real trouble (vs. normal trouble).
Ah Snowflakes, don’t worry about it. Poly after touch is way overrated. Take it from one who’s owned a CS 80 for decades. This one has much more including the sounds - straight up Sorry, I mean swancakes
Poly trouble
yea
@@davedeanovic2908 overrated? Nah. Most of the user base won't/can't utilize it properly, so why add the extra expense?
@@Musicninja007 A bit harsh, but you have a point. I've still only scratched the surface of the Brute and I've had it for a couple of years now.
This looks like a beast of a synth - but like the Brute - not really intended for the casual knob twiddler.
I'm looking forward to hearing more demos
Love the synth review thanks. Where did you get the silver racking behind you??
5:58 this is SO sick 😍
I found nearly the same sound in my Arturia cmi v
i was going to say the same, than i saw your comment :D
@@Mathmatrix1 :)
I agree.
Love the morphing.. this is a long-overdue feature on analogue polysynths
Very nice. For some reason I thought their first poly synth would be in the level of the Mini and Microbrute.
Really like this, definitely has its own sound which the feature set seems to compliment well while staying true to the brute sound. Still no prices up while typing this but ready to have my dreams crushed
2899 USD list
Mugatu: Ribbon controllers... so hot right now.
lol
Epic!!!
Serve me up a hot piping plate of ribbon controllers
mogami mugatu is there a relation?
Looks very nice - sounds deep. Looks solid and nice touches with the touch controller/strip and the logical interface of monobrute. Integrated power supply +1. Arturia plasticky knobs -1.
I took one look at this and thought, “Welp, that’s out of my price range.” Sounds great, though.
Well there is always selling 5 synths to buy it.
Excited 🤠🤚
Especially , ".. that is absolutely shaking the room.."
Brill Nick, looking forward to your Bad boy review. 👍
Getting in the obligatory "But i wanted sixteen voices" comment :-)
Well done Arturia. A modern synthesizerdesign and it sounds amazingly superduper nice!
Right? More than six voices would’ve been nice, but this thing is a beast even with 6 voices!
Let's be honest....this synth was destined to happen. Glad to finally see/hear it.
Great, snappy review. Better in a way for a first time look than an hour long trawl! And you'd programmed some patches already. So, not shabby but very useful. I think one thinks - could I, should I, invest in this as my next main polysynth??
This might be the best synth out right now for the money. I haven't heard a bad demo yet.
Lovely stuff!
That morph feature is brilliant. I'd love to see that on a more affordable synth, like a Minibrute 3.
Seriously tasty sounding synth... It's huge though, hopefully a desktop version will be forthcoming
As much as I like modules, I think part of the allure of this is the monstrous, knob-laden panel. I doubt we’ll see a module.
2:58 "That I haven't seen anywhere else"
I haven't seen it done in the analog domain but the morph feature is something Crystal did a long time ago. You could pick any two presets and "breed" them or morph between them. Alchemy (now in Logic) will also morph between it's four panel settings (not crossfading but actual parameter morphing).
The PolyBrute ain't bad, more synths should hop on the morph train.
Cheers Nick, interesting, very interesting. :)
2020 is actually turning out pretty great.
The Sunrizer software synth has an A and B on every patch, that one can morph between. It’s been round for years, has some great sounds and is not expensive. . . but to see that feature on a hardware synth - with lots of KNOBS, FADERS and a full 61 keyboard: yum! And the sounds are good good. Looks like Arturia is making it’s mark.
For your full review, can it be used easily as a midi controller for another Synth WHILE playing the synth itself? Like adding another poly aftertouch synth to it (hydrasynth maybe?) to play the same sound you play with the matrix brute?
Interesting similar price bracket to the UDO Super Six. Which one to save for?
I can't imagine being able to afford one of these but it sounds great and has some really interesting features.
Fantastic sounding new synth from Arturia !
The choice between 2 filters (Ladder or SP) is awesome !
Is it possible to put one filter on the A side and the other on the B side this synth could be mine !
You can crossfade between filters when morphing. You could also do that with modulations, not just morphing. You can also pan the filters left and right, or continuously go from series to parallel routing.
@@Diayse Hey ! thanks for your precisions, very helpful !Cheers !
nicely built...... like a fuckn tank it seems , wow. sounds awesome too
"made in china" tank
Lovely synth! Just wandering if it has the same keybed as the Matrixbrute, or better?
"...aftertouch, velocity keybed...feels really nice." Maybe better?
I think too much is made out of the MatrixBrute's bad keyboard. I have it and it's totally fine. If I were improving the MB, I wouldn't start with the keyboard.
Patch at 5:37 is lovely! Has a cool synthwave vibe.7:10 as well, beautiful..
Just what the world needs.
I feel that Novation now needs to come with a summit upgrade that uses the A/B interface as a way to switch between morph-able patches too!
Shouldn't be _that_ hard. Add a global lfo and/or envelope to the mod matrix .. yum.
Tell us more about the keybed quality and feel.
Wow!! They took an idea of fans: combining the touché with the matrix brute and then gave it further polyphony! They are on a roll!!! Wow!!!
sounds great
Does anyone know what spectrum analyser that is on the other monitor ?
someone knows how its sound can be described compared to the "UDO Super 6" sonically?
yeah. nothing alike
Sweet synth!
My MatrixBrute just got envious.
Thx for the preview Nick.
Morphing between 2 patches exists: on the Delta CEP A it is between 8 slots ;-) But of course not a poly synth... In my humble opinion, pity to have only 6 voices when you have such power in a synth (5 octaves, 2 layers, arp, seq). You would have liked to play all at the same time and with 6 voices it might be short...
I guess we can't edit the matrix via the editor rigth ? What a bummer, same thing as with the Matrixbrute then :/...
Cool take on vector synthesis
Amazing patch at 6:00
How can its analog sound be described compared to the DSI OB-6?
Digital control is a must for me. When I have some extra $ I’d love to get one like this.
The panel of this does not tilt like on the Matrixbrute right?
Correct
08:12 BoC - sorry, had to say it! Awesome soundscapes Nick.
oh yeah could totally hear that on the new Blue Oyster Cult album
Unfortunately, the morph seems to be working on the digital parameter domain: when morphing between the coarse tune, the pitch jumps between the discrete tune positions instead of delivering a continously pitch shift (which you would get in a modular setup). Listen at 2:44
Not really : one osc follow a scale when pitch shifting. I guess you can customize it.
There's a simple setting in the config to make the morph continuous.
Right. This is intentional feature.. it jumps between 3rds or such by default, but can simply be switched to change pitch continuously
Does this synth tilt? Thats my only real question about it, everything else about it seems and sounds awesome.
I'm assuming it doesn't cause it seems no reviews have it tilted
What a great thumbnail
A request for the full review. Listening to other demos it sometimes sounds like voices are dropping out too early. Like there's fewer than six notes played, and still one of the ones that are just played and still sounding are used for the new notes, even though there's still unused voices. So, could you take a basic patch, increase the release time, play three low notes, then play three high notes, and then see if one of the low notes (still playing) is silenced and used for one of the high notes? If you catch my drift...
Well my Roli Seaboard Rise will be sold soon!!! This synth is worth every penny!!!
I’ve been saving for a polysynth and this is a new contender, but I’m still more focused on an OB-6 or an UDO Super 6, still undecided! But it seems to me they both seem more easily programmable and playable
The Ob6 is awesome. Full of character and nostalgia. Nothing sounds quite like it. The UDO is digital but, sounds incredible-looks super dope too imo. The polybrute seems like a ginormous all in one situation. If I was scoring and needed optimum flexibility I would go tot eh Arturia
@zach leetch the UDO is a hybrid, not all digital.
The only downside for me, is that the panel isn't adjustable, like on the Matrixbrute. It will need its own dedicated stand, and I just don't have the room. Other than that minor thing, it seems amazing.
Sounds okay.
It sounds lovely and looks really well built. So much poly competition at this price point though. I think 1700-1900 would have had a lot more people willing to jump in.
It's priced competitively with Prophet 6 and OB-6, which are the most similar in terms of pure analog sound and 6 voices. But the Polybrute has all the power of like, a Prophet 12 and sounds as rich as the P6/OB6. Definitely worth $2500 to me
fray3dendsofsanity I’m not saying it’s not worth it. I just think if someone is willing to spend €2500 on a synth they could get so many other synths they’ve probably wanted for a while and not the shiny new thing. Like for me if I had that money to spend I’d probably go with the Prophet 6 or a Juno 60 with midi.
Does the morphing just crossfade the part levels or is it also morphing the part parameters between the two parts as you morph from one to the other?
It morphs
sonicstate thanks. Interesting.
Nick, SS family, I love you but could we occasionally get some defined, solid, tastefully modulated basses in these reviews (that doesn't mean squelchy acid stuff either). With these modern analogue synths with the digital effects sections and more modulators than you can shake a stick at, you can pretty much randomise the patch and get big swimmy, ambient pads, sequences and FX and yeah you get an idea of the character of the OSCs and the filters etc. but for a massive number of the people in the synth community that use these synths for dance and urban genres giant swimmy, mix swamping ambient demonstrations prove nothing (well, very little) of use.
All of their keyboards are on point.. if I had the money I would buy nothing but their gear.. I own the desktop microbrute and I love it
Arturia is on the right path with these releases, the price of this is quite low compared to other companies. It sounds beautiful and its got controllers not seen on other synths at this price point. Overall the sound is quite pleasant and something to look forward to in the nearby future, meaning after I sell some unused synths.lol
My question is how did it take 7 minutes for Nick to mention PWM?
My next synth, rattling my speakers even via RUclips lol😁
Sounds so good!
Really great
Good price for what you get
Great FX
finally found something to replace my aging Roland JD 800 with the nasty red glue issue
Just got a matriach but probably would've gotten this if I hadn't gotten the matraich. Big fan of arturia.
Really quite different beasts. Sound different and different user interfaces and overall uses. The answer is to have both.
@@geerhoar haha agreed.
One day I'm gonna build a really simple synth from those new Juno 106 chips. It will sound like a 106 but without the chorus. And only I will like it coz u all love your synths with loads of features that all sound the same don't you. Oh and modulation, you like that too.
The VFX could morph between patches but it was a button press from memory.
Polybrute sounds lovely but too many moving parts combined with Arturia reliability makes me nervous as a consumer which is why I never bought a MatrixBrute.
It was only a matter of time before this happened. It sounds great! Now they just need to take that little MicroFreak and make it a true poly..maybe call it the SuperFreak.
Hopefully they implement voice allocation cause 6 voices on a bitimbral synth gets super tight.
Is it bitimbral, though? Patch morphing is moving all 6 voices from one patch config to another, it seems, not 3+3 (update: I see it is also bitimbral/splittable. Fair enough)
@@stickman393 Yes. It's does splits.
