It was 1973. The worldchampionship were on 2/09 with Gimondi winning after a catastrophic sprint of Eddy Merckx. Paris-Bruxelles was on 26/09. Eddy is the greatest.

A Merckx attack was always an attack to win, the others knew when Merckx attacked that was it, it was a decisive moment, the situation was serious.

@@rawleymendoza107 that doesn't define a great racer. Patrick Sercu won the World Sprint title 9 times, won over 90 six day races, he was a great rider. Rik Van Looy won every classic, and the world title, he was a great rider. Tom Simpson won the world title, many classics, he was a great rider. Get your head out of your arse, Roger was a great rider, just ask Merckx!
Eddy doing what he did many many times .......he just rides away and wins alone.
Just shows you the power of Eddy, he rode Roger off the wheel, and Roger was a great Classics rider! Pogacar, all todays racers couldn't do that!
