- This is an interesting stereo/record player. Motorola model SKR124M. I keep forgetting about it since it is usually stored in the spare bedroom under a bunch of boxes.
My mom's aunt had this very same Coffee Table Stereo! It was great, especially the STEREO soundtrack from "Goldfinger"! That little stereo could really crank out the sound without distortion! Thanks for sharing your Motorola and your video. I appreciate your work!
I remember my mother purchasing this exact system when I was approx 12 yrs old and it was in 1963. It was a great ststem for that era and Motorola was perhaps the biggest leader in tv's and stereos back then. I played my Beatles and Beach Boys '45's endlessly on it. I even had a few 78's...one was "The Ballad of Davey Crockett", I remember. I even yet today remember the first ever '45 I ever played on it. I rode my bicycle up to our local "Thrifty" store and bought the song "Easier Said Than Done" by the "Essex". ....not a bad memory for a 65 yr old guy.
The only difference I noticed on the unit shown on this video is that the legs on ours were a little different. Ours had "spindle" type of legs, everthing else same. We kept it for many a year and my mom gave it to me years later when I lived in Az at the time and I think I later gave it away in the late '70 s I think. The tech had changed so much, but this motorola gave me soo great songs to listen to in the golden age of rock n roll- the 1960's. Will never be another music decade EVER like that one again. Thanks for sharing.
.
I was around 15 and my neighbor downstairs had one like this in 1964. I always liked these, but never managed to find one close enough to purchase.
I restored a 62 same components just side mounted speakers with a B&W television in it. This one was friendly, the caps used were modern enough to not need 100% replacement, a similar period RCA was filled with wax and bumblebees in it that all had to go
Very Nice unit, love these old consoles. I have a 1967 Maggie
As a teenager I bought a Motorola transistorized stereo in 1969
Nothing like vintage audio equipment from 1960s.
We had this exact model when I was a kid.
simply beautiful
gimmee more cow bell. LOL I love these old systems.
Did you have any issues with yours playing? Mine was working and now won’t spin!
why did it look like the 12 in was mounted to solid piece of wood? kinda negates the bass reflex....
i lke motorola consoles alot. i have an sk13 from 1959
Nice stereo, gotta love that song from "Dirty Dancing".
Looks like a voice of music turntable...they made them for Motorola and others.
when did they stop using the round type 45 spindles?.......i liked the way they looked better and didnt they work bettter than the flat ones...? thankyou for sharing....
when they went to a board meeting, plastic flat cheap like a mofo
Google could you show some of the transistorized home stereo by Motorola

"Love Is Strange" by Mickey & Sylvia.

Why do you play it with the bass only turned up a quarter of the way?
that was cool thanks

it's called "Souvenir" by OMD (Orchestral Manuvers In the Dark)
MY MOTOROLA HAS A DVD PLAYER HOOKEDTO IT
should have left it alone that mod sucks it looks like the woofer is firing directly into the piece of wood..you'd have done better to replace the speakers with high end speakers of today plenty of GOOD companies to choose from or better yet? should have just been left alone that mod wrecked it for me sorry
kirk watstien can be done. But making sure the loudspeakers are voiced properly with the system of use is paramount. Woulda been better trying to locate the exact replacement woofers from another Motorola that wasn't worth anything but for parts.
How do you find the value of something like this?
IHAVE A OLD MOTOROLA I WOULD NOT TRADE IT FOR ANY THING
He only had the bass at one fourth. What a waste of a 12 inch woofer
Sounds nice for a piece of crap.
