    Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. You may know me from my TV show Big Trick Energy (truTV, HBOmax, Netflix). Watch here for hilarious, ridiculous, and unfiltered ideas with magic, stunts, and pranks. Either I'm the funniest magician who is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is the best at magic? Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian from Vancouver, based out of Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet. Wes Barker also hosts a podcast with Chris Ramsay called Bottom Of The Barrel. Go check it out!

    The stupid thing is I saw this in a ton of beginner magic books as a kid and I always just wrote it off because "that's so dumb, it's never gonna fool anyone!"
    I've never been happier to be so wrong 😛

  • @ooohla9872
    @ooohla9872 Год назад +3

    Oh, yes, this one! It was my great uncle who did it to me, I was so fooled, and then he explained it to me! He was kinda a magician, like he knew a few stuff, and performed them for the kids during family meeting! He was such a nice person, and passed away one year ago. I never forgot this trick, because it's so damn good, and also as a tribute you know...

    I just did a variation of this with my sister and got a really fun reaction. I give her the batteries , tell her to grab each end and as expected she gets stuck - BUT I see THAT as the trick! I go "Wow, how did you do that, you have to teach me.... cause every time i do it, they go through each other!!"

    Lol… this is one of my favorite bar games. It gets better when you just keep getting more corks until everyone at the bar is doing it. It’s very similar to my coil and ring pitch when I was at Hollywood Magic. I just kept getting out more and more until everyone in the store had a set trying to figure it out! Then again, with that one, the misdirection of going from person to person gave you the critical moment to do the work that made it seem so clean.

    Took me a few tries but I figured it out. That’s super sneaky! Even in slow motion and right in front of them, the knotted web of fingers can obscure the transfer. Cool little trick, thx!

    • @phil.c.
      @phil.c. Год назад +3

      Transfer? As stated, once held, ...one finger each end of the item in question, the ends are not released, or exchanged, in any way. This is not needed, the conditions are exactly as stated in the vid. The items are, in fact, never 'entwined', hence do not need to be "unentwined". Try again.

    • @staubach1979rt
      @staubach1979rt Год назад +2

      There IS a transfer. The objects DO transfer from one hand to the other. The key is that the tips of the thumbs aren’t in play until the initial twist and the forefinger is never actually gripping anything.

    I think the easiest way to figure out how to do this is to do it backwards first. Hold something between the tip of your tumb and middle finger on each hand. Wes used batteries, mentioned corks, I had a couple small flashlights. Flip one hand so the palms are facing each other and the fingertips are pointing opposite directions. Put your object of choice into the web of your hand between your thumbs and index fingers. Then reverse that.

    I learned this with bottle caps (there is a performance and tutorial on RUclips, not with me). During the seventh or eighth time i tried it, one of the bottle caps started to slip. To prevent it from falling, i replaced an index finger, got hold of the bottle cap and could separate my hands. I new inmediatly that i had found the nack and .. i didn’t. I had to rewind, because i didn’t had a clue about what had been doing with my index finger. I replaced it, yeah, but where to and how?!

    I might be doing it wrong, because I did it on second try. The trick is grabbing the other end with your thumbs and pointing finger (or whichever you are using) than what you would grab when they cross. But that did not look puzzling at all, so this might not be the correct way to do it. :/
    I love how much fun and frustration you are causing with it! Maybe I'll try it out in a bar... except I dont go to one, ah well. :(

    0.25x speed to the rescue! As much as I love *watching* magic, I've never put any time into trying any actual sleight of hand, so my hands aren't as practiced with the dexterity. I kept dropping the batteries until something "clicked" in my brain! It's so simple and obvious, but my day has been made because I succeeded.
