Yeah I know it's kind of blurry. Apparently there's a trick to keeping the camera focused on multiple people at the same time and I don't know said trick!
Panasonic cameras from that era aren't known to have the best autofocus, I have a G85 and know all about it lol. Might be better to just use manual focus for when you do something in this format. A little tedious I know but helps keep it consistent.
Most chaotic review you have ever had and I'm all for it. I was laughing and thinking about my wife and friends reading together the whole time. Awesome video Matt!
This was a hilarious watch, such a fun video! I missed hearing your wife saying the dog entered the room and was really taken aback when I suddenly heard an intense dog panting at about 9:25 😂
This was gold. I also read this book with my fiance who loved it and I also gave the first book 2 stars much to her chagrin. I will say that I thought the second book is an improvement over the first in terms of the plot and worldbuilding. None of the plot holes you addressed were explained and although Xaden did get a lot more fleshed out, none of the other characters really did. It was a 3 star read, but I'd recommend you continue since the experience of reading along with loved ones is worth it!
This is the most chaotic review i've seen on booktube. Felt more like listening to a discord voice conversation where everyone talks at the same time. 🤣😂
Violet stress thinking the world building facts was the worst part of the book and absolutely took me out every time. Clearly the author didn’t know how to do world building properly lol.
This review may change my standard for BookTube reviews. Absolutely fantastic 😂😂😂. And also confirmed to me that I probably will not be reading this book
This was so great!! As someone who got into fantasy thanks to SJM, but my tastes have evolved so much over the last few years, as I’ve explored the genre and been introduced to Sanderson, Hobbs, when I read fourth wing I hated it. But I do wonder if I had read it a few years ago when I was reading scoter for the first time, I probably would be gushing as well 🤷🏻♀️
Hey Matt! Huge fantasy nerd here. I’ve read almost every fantasy series you’ve reviewed on your channel. I’m also a woman 😂 Came here to say I loved fourth wing a lot as a break from some of the heavier series I usually read. I would agree it is a fantasy romance, and I liked both of those aspects. I would disagree that all serious fantasy readers would hate it though- it was a fun one for me.
I'm glad Fourth Wing got more people to read and possibly pick up fantasy. I'm with you though, I don't read romance and I just skimmed the lusty parts. I'm definitley the opposite of your wife and friend and I ONLY wanted the dragons and war concept. This book opened my eyes to the fact I won't be aligned with fantasy romance hype. Throne of Glass was minimal romance and I loved that series. I don't think I could stomach Court Of Thorns and Roses. Ultimately, I should have just spoiled myself on the story and saved the reading time for something else...
This was such a fun video! You were so outnumbered 😂🤣, but you got your points across really well. I haven't read the book and I don't plan to, but from everything I've heard about it, and I've heard a lot, I think I would agree with you Matt. I'm not a huge fantasy romance fan. Most of the time they seem to be romance pretending to be fantasy. I love fantasy and I actually like reading romance, I'm just very selective if the two genres are mixed. The fantasy has to be the main focus. Even if this book focused more on fantasy I don't think it would work for me because I tend to like sweet romance instead of the type that focuses on sex, and all the cursing for no reason would start to get on my nerves too. I've read a few books that I got all caught up in and didn't care if it was really good or not because it entertained me so much, and I had a real emotional response to them. But those are also the same books that I now look back on with a little bit of embarrassment at how much I got caught up in them. Twilight would be one of them! 🤣😂This seems like one of those kind of books, so I can understand why some people end up loving it, but it's not for me.
Dain was very Gayle from hunger games. I feel like it was obvious she wasn’t going to be with him. Always knew she would end up with Xaden. And yes knew she would bond with Tairn the second he was mentioned. That’s seemed obvious too. Brennan shocked me. Maybe it shouldn’t have.
Although I really liked this form of group discussion, I thought it was a bit chaotic. Lots of interrupting and talking over each other. With some better structure and moderation it would be something I'd totally watch in the future.
Matt, I cracked up thru this video. I could never do this with my wife, our reading tastes are miles apart. So, you are lucky in that respect. You have to ease them both into better fantasy. Then do another video.
Omg noo!! Haha how did you like fourth wing better than crescent city?! Fourth wing was so much worse! Don't even read Iron Flame it got so horrible. Everything just went down hill so bad. Lolol this was hilarious and I'm here for it though. 🎉😂
I really want a patreon winner to pick the next book just so we can see your predictions of what you think will happen 🤣 I too thought the first book was super predictable but still enjoyed it!
I wanted to like it but I stopped half way. I'll finish it eventually. It seems like a good introduction to fantasy for romance readers however I didn't think the author did either well with this book.
Poor Matt LOL But i do love how you have such opposing opinions and still have fun together (siding with Matt on this one though). Lot of fun to watch this video
On one hand I think it's great that they have such strong feelings and enjoyed reading. On the other hand I can tell I'm going to hate this book when I eventually get to the beginning of the library wait list. This was so chaotic but I enjoyed the change of style for this video.
Im so glad you finally put a review up for this. This is such a devisive book. IMO it isn’t Fantasy either. I just gave up on it yesterday at around 60%. Violets pov because too obnoxious and repetitive for me. Nothing about this book was special or shocking in any way.
I'm female and am so much like you Matt when it comes to fantasy😂 I don't really see these Romantasy books as fantasy, but a romance novel with fantasy sprinkled on it. And no, I'm never ever gonna read this - currently reading Seeds of War and The Sword Defiant...that's my kind of fantasy
Love to see I'm not the only man pressured by the women in his life to read really bad books - I am currently trying to get through Fourth Wing, myself. It's interesting to see the things I hate as a fantasy reader are things romance readers don't even care about. And the things romance readers love are things that I absolutely don't care about or I'm actively turned away by.
My girlfriend has read every period drama ever! Her favourite book of all time is Pride and Prejudice. She enjoyed all the Twilights, 50 shades etc when she was a teen. She is absolutely obsessed with Fourth Wing. Everything she tells me about it just sounds like a load of cheesy nonsense. I’ve tried convincing her to read the main big series (First law, Stormlight etc) and when I explain them to her she literally couldn’t care less.
As a long time romance reader, and newer adult fantasy reader, this book just wasn't good. It was very predictable and just not well written or plotted. I think I gave it a 2.5 then sold the book. I have zero intention of continuing the series.
As I woman, I absolutely adore this. I've been following you for the fantasy recomandations, but I do enjoy my fantasy romance. So ofcourse I've read Fourth Wing, and yes loved it. So this discussion is amazing, because it's so expected! Love the format btw!
I’m currently trying to read it because my wife asked me to do so. Jesus it’s like torture. I also can’t say anything to her because I don’t want to just shit on something she likes. I’m in hell.
Yeah. To be honest a lot of people today have trash taste when it comes to movies/shows/books. They love some bad stuff, and think that because they love it that means that it is good. You can love something subjectively, but it can still be objectively bad. And that’s perfectly fine, until you start believing that everything you subjectively love is objectively good. I’m not excluded from all of this, as there are things that I love that are objectively bad, but at least I can recognize that. A lot of people are unable to see and understand the difference between subjectively good and objectively bad though.
The portrayal of the disability is abysmal. Someone wrote an article about the toxic perseverance the book promotes, that if you just try hard enough you can overcome anything instead of recognizing your limitations.
@@fraterahava its the fact that this specific disability sort of forces you to acknowledge your limitations every single day, and Violet only seems to care about it when something is already out of its socket. She knows she can't do certain things and its not like she has to work against her body, she just wants to. Its the fact that she wants to prove herself as worthy, but there's an entire chapter in the book where she's cheating her way out of fights and she learns nothing from it after getting her ass beat
I agree, I am 100% a fantasy nerd. Keep fighting the good fight Matt, you know your audience and its honest folks like you that stop me potentially wasting my time on hidden romance novels 😂
Need more video like this where friends and families ly take over his channel. From their reading taste it feels like they will enjoy female centric progression fantasy like Wandering inn (start is rough) or light novels like Ascendence of Bookworm. Though both these series lack sexy time.
I have seen it advertised and always thought this book was a romance or “romantasy,” and to each their own. Is it really trying to sell itself as anything more than that?
Yeah I know it's kind of blurry. Apparently there's a trick to keeping the camera focused on multiple people at the same time and I don't know said trick!

This is Matt's Fantasy Reviews written by Robert Jordan where our protagonist gets bullied by two women for 25 mins
Great comment

Nah, no spanking happened lol
Most chaotic review you have ever had and I'm all for it. I was laughing and thinking about my wife and friends reading together the whole time. Awesome video Matt!
We’re all waiting for the sequel review where it’s just Matt and he can actually say what he wants to say💀
100% want this
Yes please!
Matt fighting for his life in the hardest gank fight of all time
This was a hilarious watch, such a fun video!
I missed hearing your wife saying the dog entered the room and was really taken aback when I suddenly heard an intense dog panting at about 9:25 😂
This was brilliant, would love to see more reviews like this 😂
Need a part 2 where you all read and review a "real" Fantasy book. The Blade Itself or Jade City might be good starting points!
We are all going to be reading "Warbreaker" in the very near future to ease them into the adult genre.
Omg Jade city and the rest of that trilogy would be great
This review was so much fun. Can't wait for the sequel, Matt!

This was so entertaining and chaotic, I love it! I would love if you do this again with other books!
This is the most chaotic review i've seen on booktube. Felt more like listening to a discord voice conversation where everyone talks at the same time. 🤣😂
Just got to the end 24:00, glad you finally called the cops on them.
LOL
Greatest review ever! We need this crew for the sequel review!
Matt, you are the bravest person I know. Haha!
This was chaos and I absolutely loved it
This was so fun to watch especially since I don’t read or plan to read romantasy :p would love to see more
"Are you gonna read book 2?"
"No." I felt that in my soul. I hated this book so much and I agreed 💯 on your points
Is that Salamandastron on your shelf!? That immediately established you as a man of taste for me.
Yup! Eulaliaaaa!
Lol!!! I thought the ladies might be kinda quiet and slow to warm up ... NOT! POOR, MATT!!! 😂😂😂
Violet stress thinking the world building facts was the worst part of the book and absolutely took me out every time. Clearly the author didn’t know how to do world building properly lol.
This video was wild and I’m so glad you did it! 🤣
This review may change my standard for BookTube reviews. Absolutely fantastic 😂😂😂. And also confirmed to me that I probably will not be reading this book
I read the first chapter, burst out laughing and put it down. No regrets lmao
Literal garbage book.

I surprisingly enjoyed this video a lot! Super fun to watch! 😂🥰
Based on this video, I just bought this book for my wife. Thanks 🤣
I'm glad Fourth Wing got more people to read and possibly pick up fantasy. I'm with you though, I don't read romance and I just skimmed the lusty parts. Watch this on 1.75-2x speed and watch Matt head bob and weave while trying to attempt to explain why he doesn’t enjoy it lol 😂 😂Haha
Finally, more people whose opinions we can trust.
This was such a fun video! You were so outnumbered 😂🤣, but you got your points across really well. I love this review. I’ve never been so sure I would hate a book more than I would The Fourth Wing. That’s for taking this bullet for us Matt.
I adore this. Love the chaos
Hahaha totally agree with the part where you said don’t worry about the spoilers no one here intends to read this 😂
Thanks for the warning Matt, I'm definitely never going to read it now, even harder 😆
Kudos to you Matt, this looked painful!!! haha
The title with the thumbnail is just too funny lol
Although I really liked this form of group discussion, I thought it was a bit chaotic. Lots of interrupting and talking over each other. With some better structure and moderation it would be something I'd totally watch in the future.
This is your funniest video. I love this😂
was gonna put this on in the background but i think this requires my attention lmao.
I've never really understood why people in Greek mythology were so afraid of harpies. Now I get it
Matt, I cracked up thru this video. I could never do this with my wife, our reading tastes are miles apart. So, you are lucky in that respect. You have to ease them both into better fantasy. Then do another video.

Absolute chaos and I love it.
This was great! Please don’t let it be a one time thing!
I wanted to like it but I stopped half way. I'll finish it eventually. It seems like a good introduction to fantasy for romance readers however I didn't think the author did either well with this book.
I'm gonna read this book before this month ends
Poor Matt LOL
But i do love how you have such opposing opinions and still have fun together (siding with Matt on this one though). Lot of fun to watch this video
The idea is great, but I think it would work better with less interrupting each other.
This is by far the most enterraining video Matt has ever made ! You should discuss books with your wife and her friend more often 😂
Another fantastic video! Thank you
haha this was hilarious. Weed , explicit content, language haha little bit different than Matt's regular 😂
No offense to the two people who are wrong in this video, but Forth Wing was terrible. I can't believe you gave it two stars, Matt! :D
You can do the flipside and have them read a book like Between Two Fires: Fantasy Horror. I know you will like it!!
This is pure chaos lmao. Love from Turkey
On one hand I think it's great that they have such strong feelings and enjoyed reading. On the other hand I can tell I'm going to hate this book when I eventually get to the beginning of the library wait list. This was so chaotic but I enjoyed the change of style for this video.
I’m feeling so sorry for you Matt! I read the book because of the hype, I couldn’t believe how bad the characters and writing was.
How much longer did this one take to edit to bleep all the f**s out of the video? 😂
This is actually an interesting format. Do it again.
I am the demographic fourth wing was written for and I absolutely hated it. One of the silliest and worst books I've ever read.
Im so glad you finally put a review up for this. This is such a devisive book. IMO it isn’t Fantasy either. I just gave up on it yesterday at around 60%. Violets pov because too obnoxious and repetitive for me. Nothing about this book was special or shocking in any way.
You needa give them some actually quality literature.
Wife’s friend read Pillars of the Earth which is definitely high quality.
Might have to give this one a try after this fun review ha
I'm female and am so much like you Matt when it comes to fantasy😂
I don't really see these Romantasy books as fantasy, but a romance novel with fantasy sprinkled on it.
And no, I'm never ever gonna read this - currently reading Seeds of War and The Sword Defiant...that's my kind of fantasy
This was hilarious!!
I love the part when he asked what did surprise you
Her: how good it was 😂😂😂
Great idea to bring 2 fans with you so we can get another perspective.
I'm a woman - of about the same age as these ladies - and I have NO intention of reading this! 😂
Oh! please more of them❤❤❤😂😂
Love to see I'm not the only man pressured by the women in his life to read really bad books - I am currently trying to get through Fourth Wing, myself.

Please do this more often....😂
Matt I've been watching your channel from the start and this is hands-down the best video you ever produced. More please!
Love the chaos! 🤣
As a former big fan of Sarah J Maas, Rebecca yarros sounds like SJM 2 electric boogaloo
i really love this and the friend is such a normie which is good for dynamic/pov
Only made it 60 pages and couldn’t go further
I’m currently trying to read it because my wife asked me to do so. Jesus it’s like torture. I also can’t say anything to her because I don’t want to just shit on something she likes. I’m in hell.
Haha I could totally be friends with y'all. 😂
Fourth wing is bad and doesn’t make sense , but hey , people love it

literally best thing ive seen in bookyoutube space in a while. more!
As a female i see why they loved it...but no i also thought it was bad lol...iron flame is even worse i dnf'd that one
This is the content I didn't know I needed in my life.
Hey! Weed is great! Don't compare it to a bad book!
Need more video like this where friends and families ly take over his channel. From their reading taste it feels like they will enjoy female centric progression fantasy like Wandering inn (start is rough) or light novels like Ascendence of Bookworm. Though both these series lack sexy time.
Tell them to read The Book That Wouldn’t Burn next!
More videos of Matt being steamrolled by two hilarious, chaotic women! 😂
I have seen it advertised and always thought this book was a romance or “romantasy,” and to each their own. Is it really trying to sell itself as anything more than that?
Yo!!! Don’t put this trash in the same league as Harry potter. lol
Hysterical 🤣
