  • In this "Halloween Special" if you will of this series, back in the usually Plague Town, I attempt to lure an NPC to the lot using a ghost child. As you'd expect, it goes horribly. Trust me, running an experiment is hard when all of your sims are dying off due to the flu...
I hope you enjoyed the video and have a great Halloween!
DISCLAIMER! (added on 12/11/2023): This is a series where I continue with the experiments I began in Plague Town back in 2020. The aim was to see if I could corrupt a neighbourhood and experience the symptoms of corruption firsthand.
What this series and experiment has taught me is that The Sims 2 takes a lot of effort to corrupt, and corruption itself is quite rare. That combined with the recent revelations that a lot of the stuff I did in this series doesn't cause corruption anyway (except for what I did in the first episode where I deleted a sim outside of the game using SimPE... that can cause issues) has turned this series into less of trying to trigger neighbourhood corruption and of more having fun with the game and seeing what glitches can be done.
I'm keeping the series name the same for consistency and because corruption can also refer to trying the "break the game with funny bugs," which is what this series is at its core.

The reason no NPCs spawned is because the mod you have to fix ghost children walk also removes the possibility of spawning dangerous npc :/ I'm sorry a video went to waste for a forgotten mod D:

I started to figure that was the case while editing, but it was fun to edit. However, it just turned into a weird version of the Hunger Games where the challenge is to withstand the flu virus 😂

Is anyone able to link this mod? I have been wanting to play with ghost-children in my neighbourhood, but have always been held back by the possibility of corruption

Honestly, I don't think it's something to worry about too much. If you had been playing a Maxis hood as it ships out of the box, I would have said that it could have been leftovers from their play-testing. Since you're saying that you're using fixed templates and haven't done any VBTs, then if I had to take a guess, I'd say those errors might be the game assigning relationships between sims and literal objects, like a chair or a chess table. It's not game breaking or anything, it's just how the game functions and it's something HoodChecker can clear up. I get those errors from time to time and the hoods they've appeared in are still up and running.
Even if signs of hood corruption begin to present themselves, it doesn't mean the end of your hood. Yes there would be that sinking feeling knowing that the hood is on a timer, but if it's well looked after it can last for years. I have a megahood built off of the Maxis Pleasantview, which ships corrupted out of the box, and that's lasted me a little over a year and it's still running. There was one incident where there was an awkward save placing the files into a format HoodChecker, SimPE, and even the game itself couldn't load it anymore. Fortunately, I had a recent backup and it hasn't happened again since, but it was caused by the game itself having a wobble while saving.
To make a long point short, I don't think those errors are corruption symptoms and seem harmless to me personally. Sorry for the long essay and thank you for your support! Here's to hoping that your hood is safe for a long while! 😊
