I had a very similar situation happen with my daughter at school, I got called to the office and they said my kid was fighting and that's all they would say. So I got down there and asked what exactly happened. They told me this little boy pushed my daughter to the ground and smooshed her face in the ground and ran away and (apparently they let that go) then the kid got on a slide and as he came down the slide my daughter waited for him at the bottom and spartan kicked him in the chest. The dumbfounded look on their face when I said good for her. They said they would suspend her for 3 days, and I said that's fine because there is no punishment they can give her that will be equal to the reward I'm going to give her for standing up for herself. I took her to Dave and Buster's right after that and then we went to a theme park the next day because I was off work and we had time. I also had a long talk with her about how violence is not always the answer but there are times when you have to stand up for yourself because no one is going to do it for you. I let her know if she was in the wrong and being a bully I would scold her harder than any teacher could but if she was in the right I would always have her back.

Ive always taught my girls to defend themselves but I also have taught them to never put your hands on a man because the majority of men can end your life with their bare hands.

This makes me think of what happened in a newly established wildlife park in Africa.
The rangers kept finding injured and sometimes dead rhinos on their morning patrols.
It wasn’t poachers because the horns were left alone.
After setting up camera traps around water holes they found out what was happening.
Adolescent male elephants were acting very aggressive and were the ones targeting the rhinos.
The park staff realized that there had been severe poaching in the region and as a result there were no large dominant bull elephants remaining.
The young, hormone-charged males were being rejected by the adult females and were essentially taking out their frustrations and excess energy on the rhinos.
The situation was completely resolved upon the relocation of a group of dominant bulls from another park with a healthy population.
Moral of the story is it matters to have consequences for your behavior.

Stand up for what's right, even if you feel like you're standing alone. You're not. Someone will have your back, because courage is contagious.

Great comment, I see a lot of people who say now days it's not worth it to step in but that's BS. If an innocent person is in danger any man should step up regardless of the consequences. I've gotten in between an elderly lady and a dude twice my size and on meth. I was shaking scared and thank God he didn't swing (California at the time so I was unarmed). Even if I had my ass handed to me and was put into the hospital then jail, I would still be able to look myself in the mirror. As for legal consequences, I have USCCA insurance which brings great peace of mind - hopefully I never have to use it.

I absolutely believe its the right answer. My son in 8th grade at the time was jumped by two kids for standing up for another student in the gym that happened to be gay. My son approached him and told him to quit that if they wanna bully somebody bully him. So once my son turned his back the kid hit him in the neck with a jump rope so my son turned around and took the jump rope from him and decided to start kickin this kids ass. So this kid came up from behind and punched my son in the face my son turned and as he did elbowed the other kid in the jaw dropped him inmediately. Gym teacher broke it up. My son gets suspended for a week because he hurt the 2 kids the one he elbowed had damn near had his jaw broken and the other kid was slightly bloody not bad but enough to teach him a lesson. My son had a big ass welt on his neck from the jump rope my son was 6'1 at the time he is now almost 17 and 6'5. But these kids started it and my son finished it period. The other two kids got a 1 day suspension. I said to hell with it lets go to gatlinburg for vacation a few days early then. My son wasnt punished at home in fact I told him its ok to stand up to bullies if that happens again and you get suspended ill handle it.

In PG County Maryland, i used to get suspended fighting in school. Usually three days, sometimes five days. Would go work landscaping and building sundecks with my dad during the down time. It has to be that way, if you fight, whether you are justified or not, do the crime, do the time. Sometimes you just gotta take one for the team. People can make up all kinds of stories, flip the script and make you the bully, or straight up lie to make it like you are the aggressor, so it is better to punish both people equally, like no fault accident states for vehicle insurance. Otherwise you get these identity politics weenies getting one day suspensions because they were the best liar, or the administrator who is writing the suspension has the same identity as the perps. Just smash them and take your administrative lickings like a man.

Brah, i get it, but just let it go, it’s not worth it. Retire already, the time of the White Knight is over. Let them eat cake. I did eight years on a fifteen handling a Hawaiian bullie on Maui out in Kaupo who was beating up women and dragging them across the ground. Do you think they came to my defense in court? No, in fact they turned me in to crime stoppers for the $1K reward, stiffed me on an ounce of my jungle guerrilla grown organic pakalolo, and testified against me in court for the prosecution. LET THEM EAT CAKE 🍰

    • @robertchiarizia9463
      @robertchiarizia9463 Год назад

Don’t be so easily offended. You will find conflict will not seek you out as often. Use humor to diffuse situations, and assume the other person is going through something that is making them act like a punk, jerk, bully, or fuknut. Give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s a misunderstanding. We cannot assume other people’s intentions, so cut them some slack, nobody is perfect. See them as empty vessels like a boat in the water that hits you broadside, but has no captain to pilot it. You will find Grace will take you farther in life than judgement calls. You are not the judge, the jury, or the executioner. Live an let live. We are all imperfect assholes. Give them your highest grace. I promise it works. Southern Style Kill them with kindness.

Totally agree with Frank. When my daughter was about 12, just when girls are starting puberty & getting boobs, there was a boy a bit older throwing the girls on the ground & grabbing their chest/boobs. My daughter was doing martial arts & was one of the top girls in her age group in Australia at the time. He did it to my daughter & she told him to stop doing it, he did it again & she told him to stop again, he tried a third time & my daughter put him in a wrist lock - painful & humiliating but no damage. Let him go when a teacher finally arrived.
I get a phone call at work - my daughter’s in trouble for "using karate at school". I drive the 45 minutes & get to the school & see my daughter sitting outside the Principal’s office. Ask her what happened, no bullshit or exaggeration, & she told me the story. I go into the office & the Principal is telling me that my daughter’s suspended & will be lucky if they let her go back. I asked him if he knew the full story & he assured me he did. I asked what punishment the boy was receiving & he said he’d "been counselled" because his father was well respected in the Catholic community (this is a Catholic school). I pulled my phone out & started to dial a number & he asked what I was doing? Told him I was calling the police to report that my daughter had been sexually assaulted at the school & the Principal was covering it up. He freaked & begged me not to make the call. I told him the boy had better be suspended for a month, made to do recess & lunch detention for the rest of the year to protect all the girls & my daughter would not be suspended or punished at all. He accepted those conditions.
When the boy got back to school he started bragging about his holiday & 2 of the boys who did martial arts with my daughters overheard. They were top of their age group in Australia at the time & got hold of him in the toilets & gave him a real beating. They told him if he told anyone who did it he’d get beaten every day for the rest of the school year. I only know because I heard he’d been beaten up & the school had no idea how it had happened. I had a guess & asked them about it & they told me they’d been questioned by the Principal but denied it & none of the kids at the school would answer any questions about it. That family moved away from town about 9 months later because everybody had heard about the kid sexually assaulting the girls, "getting beat up by the girl" & people started asking if he did it because that’s how his father treated his mother.

For an in-depth and incredible analysis of what Frank Mir's discussing. I recommend the essay "On the Bully's Pulpit" by David Graeber. The fact that 'it doesn't matter who started it' is a thing in schools reflects how it's more about convenience for the administrators than actual justice. Still though, the literature on violence and non-violence (including definitions) is a rich topic.

One of the best examples of what is appropriate for defending yourself I’ve seen. I’ve been telling my children since they were old enough to go to school- that if someone is trying to hurt you, then you have no alternative but to defend yourself. Teaching children it’s wrong to defend themselves is completely disgusting, opens them up to abuse from adults and other kids as well as creates a harmful mindset growing into an adult. My children have always known that just because a teacher or school has to suspend them for defending themselves - that’s the government introducing policy that is wrong. It is never wrong, adult or child to make sure someone stops trying to harm you.
The way Frank delivers this is just an amazing, well spoken and common sense approach to something that every parent should have with their child.

In the country where I live, we teach the boys that violence is AN INSTRUMENT: It should never be regarded as an end goal within and by itself. One's survival is the ultimate objective, and violence is among one's most powerful instruments designed to secure that objective. Just like any other instrument, one must practice it in order to master it. The master level is achieved when one knows when it is appropriate to use it and in what degree.

Zero Tolerance policies are one of the several reasons I left the teaching profession.
It solves nothing and it just gives bullies more power to be bullies knowing that they can pick fights and turtle up and the school punishes the person protecting themselves or others.
Zero tolerance policies are just laziness on behalf of administration because they dont want to investigate and actually handle bullies.
The straw that broke the camels back for me was the district introduced a new policy where the bully and the victim were forced to sit together and the victim actually had to listen to why the bully was a bully and the victim was basically intimidated to feel sorry for the bully. Nope. We are done.
The funny part is schools say they have a zero tolerance policy but they do every thing in their power to keep the kids enrolled without actually fixing any issues. They care more about admission rates so they get paid versus stopping bullies. I had kids 6-8th grade that had more days suspended for fighting and bullying than they did enrolled at the end of the year but they were still at the school because $.
Public schools in this country are largely fucked.

Always taught my kids this lesson. Ask once for the bully to stop, if they do not stop the time for words is over. Smash that nose and don't stop until they quit or someone pulls you off. You are free, don't let anyone take even an ounce of that from you. Even if you lose they will choose someone else next time.

Now if you even raise your voice, they want to arrest you. I am trying to stop my sisters from stealing my parents land and the cops are considering arresting me because I am angry about it. And they are making up fake accusations on me and I don't know if they will believe me or them. It's sick.
