IKR 😂😂😂😂😂
And they probably never will be.
🤣
This is a sweet song. Such a romantic time to be young. My parents met and fell in love in the early 60s. They still love to dance to these songs. I feel like our generation and those that came after got robbed of the chance to fall in love to the romantic soundtrack of the early 60s.
She wrote that song in high school.
She has a sweet and innocent voice. In the 60s, there were many female lead singers - Dionne Warwick, Betty Everett, Etta James, Nancy Wilson, Fontella Bass, and Shirley Ellis, to name a few. They were all very popular in that era. Their lyrics were not overt - that wasn't done back then. You could understand just as much as you wanted to, but I remember them as love songs and always will.
Very good post!
Remember growing up to this one.
One the most sensual songs ever. Simply stunning.
I had never heard the original until now..in the late 70s KC (Singer of KC& the Sunshine Band) and Teri DeSario had a huge hit with a remake of this,I was so in love with that song..nice to hear the original also
Hey Mate,
Just wanted to drop you a big thank you.
I've just spent the last six weeks in a rough state coming off prescribed opioids after 20 years on them (so you can imagine the dose I was on) and luckily in the second week I stumbled across one of your videos and they really made a positive difference. They were a great distraction, not just the music, but you too.
Anyway, enough of that bit, detox is done and life has begun again.
Can't really do this without recommending a song, so as you liked the Sugarland video, try this one. It's Sugarland with "Stand Back Up."
Over the years my life has taken me to some dark places, but this song has always helped me get back to me again. If nothing else it will help some of the people you treat to find that extra motivation on a crappy day.
Sorry to go on for so long.
Thanks again and you sir are a true gentleman, a rare commodity in this day and age.
Dave

TY!! get your mind out of the gutter! haha we did NOT take it that way back then. Learn how to fall in love-- not have sex!!!! lol
" Learn how to fall in love - not have sex. " That's deep!
Love this music soo pure. You gotta hear Mary Wells The One Who Really Loves You, from about the same time. Mary was a great talent, once the number one selling female artist and sadly forgotten by music reviewers. She also died young.
I had forgotten all about this song! Brings back memories!
I'd just arrived alone in S. Cal a few months before this song came out. Feeling kinda' lonely, 21 years old, and imagine what was on my mind! But Ty, I honestly don't recall, although it's been a while, believing this song was about what you think it was about. It was just a pretty nice song.
Barbara Mason wrote this herself when she was 17
Barbara Mason was a female artist in Philly and was probably one of the best philly soul artists around at the time. She was 18 when she wrote and sang this song, An amazing talented woman.and btw Kenny Gamble (TSOP) was her back up singer on this track.
This song shows that love involves learning your man. I first learned this song from my father's music rotation.
Your expressions and “feel”
for the music is priceless. You should see Barbera Lewis’ recent live version on a PBS oldies show.. She still has it and is even better..Crowd went wild..
She, Barbra Lewis has the most awesome bravado, Hello Stranger
Barbara Mason did do a fantastic version on the PBS special back in the early 2000s.
My parents were driving home from bakersfield/delano through the grapevine to san diego and i was laying down in the backseat and this was playing on the radio and i was probably just daydreaming about boys....who i forgot about anyways. LOL
Awesome memory!
Great song - blowback to the past!
Listen to “ I think we’re alone now” by Tommy James and the Shondelles.. Really reading between the lines, but such a sweet innocent time.
Ok my man, who could possibly recreate today the innocence of those times!
When I hear this song I have the urge to sing along loudly
She is the godmother of Philly soul! Such a beautifully sung melody. No 17 yo cant replicate that innocence of that time.
Barbara Mason's accent when she sings it's very relatable to Estelle refer to as Chicano style oldies, just by the way she accents her voice has really captivated that she kind of culture for many decades like no other, even though herself she's not Hispanic. it's just that certain style she has that really Drew such.
Kathleen Diaz is right. Back in our day when we talked love we meant romance and commitment. There was sex and there was love. This is actually a sweet and innocent song. C;mon she didn't even know how to hold hands and kiss. But Ty, you're cool and I know that you support true love with commitment.
Hey my MR Man, Ms. Mason does are particular genre of R&B/Soul, refered to as Chicano Style Oldies. Being why the Flattish accent to her singing, just like Leon Huff of The Intruder's and few others.
I was in eighth grade when this came out. Slow danced to it for years afterwards. Back then there was no sexually explicit music that was public. This was precariously balanced right on that edge. Back then being just a tad controversial helped make songs into hits. Of course, it really helped if the song and the singer were really good.
I think the song is more innocent than you are giving it credit for. You have to remember the time period that it was recorded. Explicit sexual phrasing wasn't as common as it is now.
yes-- learning to fall in love-- not learning to have sex!!
Agree Moogie, I was "there'.
I don't agree
good music from my young days-- brings back memories
Regarding title it was an answer song to Major Lance Money time. Words go "are you ready?"
I’ve listened to you quite a bit and you have a common sense view of reality. I like that. Wasn’t she a cutie, she looks at someone and smiles that shy look, just beautiful and makes guys flip. lol 😂 love is a miracle, and like Lightning it just strikes anywhere. I was 15 when this song hit number one and of course it was innocent like someone that wanted someone to show her how. But like you said, only God can show you love.
I did find this song like 15 years ago and it's still one of my favorites for Barbara Mason's great vocal performance, the general song idea, the male choir and of course the strings. Greetings from Berlin Germany!
I was 14 and I liked a boy but I had never kissed a boy before so this was a song that came out when I had my first boyfriend
Who is the person suggesting these songs to you? Excellent taste. They must have been a teen when I was. This song came out in my senior year of high school. No hanky panky stuff😅 I was a virgin still thinking that saving myself for Mr. Right was important.
Ty. The term "rock and roll" -- which this is -- was a euphemism originated by black singers in the early 1950's to infer sex.
C’est ma chanteuse préférée , merci pour tout Barbara mason et merci mec pour tes vidéos 🙌🏾❤️
This song was also done in French and in Spanish
What an awesome song, it put a smile on my face, and made me fill good.
Nice song. there were so many like that back in the day. Try "I do love you" by GQ. also a nice song
That was a Billy Stewart cover.
Love to see your reaction to "Will You Still Love Me?" by Chicago. My wife and will have been married 30 years tomorrow (Feb. 19th) and that song seemed to play everywhere we went while dating.
Barbara-her voice!!!
The sweet inocence of Love.
I watch you raise your eyebrows in anticipation of what you think's going to be sung and I kind of chuckle here's an oldie for you, pillow talk by sylvia
one of my fave songs ever
I see you like guitarist, try the Ventures , Walk don't run 64 or Apache.
KC and Teri De Sario did a pretty good rendition of this song.
Checkout Betty Wright Tonight Is The Night
CLASSIC!.. LOVE IT!..
great tune..
It’s a nice song...she has a good voice..
Sweet song! I was 13. Always been one of my favorites. Not that I was ready ha ha. Just so sweet and Brenda Lee "I'm Sorry" FOREVER! Thanks for the trip down memory lane , nice way to start my day. Now will you PLEASE play Johnny Winter at Woodstock "Mean Town Blues"?! I keep asking and I love your channel 👻
Lou Rawls - You'll never find
David Ruffin - Walk away from love
Jerry Butler -Only the strong survive
Do these!
Lou Rawls - Natural Man
Bobby Hebb - Sunny
I really enjoy your reactions to songs, especially the ones from the yesteryears. I really am glad 8 found your channel. I do have some song requests I would like to see you react to.
1. Roy Orbison - She's a Mystery to Me.
2. Little Joe Cook and the Thrillers - Peanuts.
3. Alan Dale - Sweet and Gentle.
4. Bobby Vinton - Over and Over.
5. Pat Boone - Speedy Gonzalez.
6. Elvis Presley - Crawfish.
These are songs I often listen to and enjoy enormously. I know I'm pretty bold for suggesting 6 songs. Obviously it doesn't have to be all at once. But please consider these songs for future reaction videos.
Deram 5 deslikes, talvez por serem surdos (as). Anos 70...meus amigos que já se foram, sereno, Cuba Libre, Festinhas Americanas, namoradas,....que saudades!
Eu vivi prá contar, graças ao Sr Deus!
I love this song, she has a video singing this song about in the 2000's. Check it out
Estoy aquí por la canción, aunque no entiendo mucho lo que el dice. creo que hace referencia a que la canción tiene una letra inocente, y en eso estoy de acuerdo 👍🏿.
YES BARBARA IS THE ORIGINAL, BUT YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT THE DUET TERRI AND KC!!
That record got me into Soul in UK as a pup. Kim Weston Little more love. Dee Dee Sharp I really love you and Dionne Warwick are you there with another girl/ Any old time have similar quality videos.
Ok let me help you interpret this got you since I'm 62. Music during that time period relied on facial and body movements to express their music.Their was no techno electronic devices to go with music .Second alot of songs were about romantic love and not about sex ! Today it's in your face music !! Not then !!! Look at the other genre of music ...Walk on by....hold me thrill me by Mel Carter ...and so many others .Music was much more innocent as was the morality of our culture !! She said what she was ready for love!!! Romantic love !!!people fall in love and they grow in it over the years !
Got that one too.
I recommend three acts for you to review, PMJ's "Burn", "Have You Ever" by Matt Bloyd, Mario Jose and Vincint Cannady and PMJ MMMbop (Doo Wop Version).
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do Society's Child by Janis Ian please
I like her songs.
I like the dancers 💃
Your shirt makes me laugh
You should try "Skillit - Monster".
A 52 year old white guy finds this gorgeous!!!
Me & You - Brenton Wood
Give Me Some kind of sign and Oogum Buggum - Brenton Wood
You might be interested in knowing that KC of KC and the Sunshine Band and Terri Desario remade this and it was actually really good. Better than the original version, IMO.
Yes! KC (and the Sunshine Band) and Teri DeSario had a fun (and better sounding) No. 2 duet with a cover of this song in 1979. I didn't realize it was originally recorded by Barbara Mason. Good to know the history. The 1979 version was played at the roller skating rink during couples' slow skate back when I was in high school. :-)
Barbara Mason's version is a lot better
She's ready to learn how to be a wife. Something that's lost on modern dating and specifically modern women. #FBI #kevinsamuels #imaphd
Killer choon
This version was before my time, so I'm more familiar with the Teri DeSario/K.C. (as in "and the Sunshine Band") version from 1979. It was also a big hit, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can you please react to "Holy Roller" by Mother Love Bone?
❤️💋🌸🌹💥😍 BR
You don’t know what you are talking about. 1965 life was innocent, not prevented as it is today. Men respected Women we held hands we kiss that was it. Today all you think about is sex can I hit that. Wow… you are so lost today.🙏
Yeah the sarcasm went WAAAAY over your head and your comment makes that obvious. When you say " all you think about is sex" are you referring to me? I have been married for 21 years and I'm from the old school so your comment is completely obsolete if it was intended for me.
Great song...I remember this from a cover though...it was done by KC from KC and the Sunshine Band and Terri De Dario...it's smooth
FUuPOS
She's off-key.
So is my daughter when she asks to use my car.
