    Closest thing I can think of is the “Star Wars Art: Ralph McQuarrie” which is all of the early Star Wars concept art for the original trilogy, it is 200$ - 800 large pages and really 2 books

    • @MatthewFabb
      @MatthewFabb 8 месяцев назад +4

      There's also the two volumes of The Star Wars Archives by Paul Duncan that are $200 each. They are huge oversized books that are both over 600 pages each the first one covering the original triology and the 2nd one covering the prequels. The book publisher also offers a much smaller cheaper version with a decreased page count of both the books for just $40.

    • @forsafemode
      @forsafemode 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@MatthewFabbYes two trilogy books from Taschen. I hold both copies and they are massive books. 600+ pages and weighing around 8-9kg (20 pounds) each. A gigantic book that throws an impression and filled with in depth, behind the scene information. If that one costs 200 dollars, this book should certainly be less than 100 dollars

Personally, I really find this book interesting but I think on it's own, it would be more appealing at a $50 price. I'm not really sure what LEGO were thinking when they put $150 as a price tag on this to be honest, even with this "deluxe edition". Let's hope they do a "peasant version" for a sane price. And congrats for getting your Geonosis MOC published in an official LEGO book David, that really is something else!

I just focus on those hard cover books that focus on building techniques for LEGO. As a newer AFOL, I find the investment in those (via discounts on Amazon) more worth the value. Wow, that 1999 toy fair replica thingey is super neat! Fun to think they still have the original graphics files to be able to reprint it. I hope nobody spent 5501 dollars on the original thing since the demand for it will go down exponentaly now

    I would've been SOLD if the Timeline did have a picture for each set released, not just text. Its already $150, just add a couple more pages for pictures. I feel like they fumbled it there.

    The price isn't nuts compared to other high end art of Star Wars books (examples the Ralph McQuarrie and large format Archives books). I do wish you could buy this without the time capsule though. That's stuff I have no need for. Would have rather they added extra pages with photos and descriptions/history covering those items. Hope they do release it separately (and cheaper), but keep the quality and slimmed down slipcase

    I'd really like high quality scans of the game stuff. Storyboards for an entire cutscene that didn't make it into the first game? That's notable.

    Books are very expensive. Especially collectible ones. I collect leather bound books and have spent over $1000 on a single book. $150 isn’t too bad when you consider who it’s targeted towards. Maybe they could have dropped it to $100 but I’ll still be picking it up. Great review!
