The Department of Defense Education Activity, as one of only two federally operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and managing prekindergarden through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense. DoDEA is globally positioned, operating 163 accredited schools in 8 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam and Puerto Rico. Lived here 78 until 81, attended grades 2-4 in GTMO. Best duty station Dad ever pulled.
A lot of changes since the 90s. One of the best Naval bases you can go to.

I went to WTS Elementary around 84-86. Was a great place back then as a kid..
I'm a schoolteacher, and GTMO looks like a fantastic place. Would love to trying living, working, and playing there. :-)
My kids were privileged to attend WT Sampson for all of their elementary and most of their secondary school. Great teachers and school environment.

In my time in GTMO, I met Jaques Cousteau, Shannon Sharpe (his dad worked at the Chiefs Club IIRC), and a few others whose names escape me. No US Elementary/High School could have given me such an education!
Is insane how a place inside a country like Cuba could look so different. I’m Cuban myself and really this is just sad how all Cuba could be like these, and I’m talking about available food, fishing is not illegal, houses are not falling on your head, available electricity, classroom with desks and chairs for everyone, water, etc. The dictatorship ripped away our freedom.

If you gave me regular flights out and medical I'd be there. In addition to RITA not applied with move out. Id like to go to Costa Rica or FL couple times a month
