Never get tired of watching this, how much skill and talent is involved in skipping like these girls. Brilliant
Just introduced my 6 year old daughter to this.... She's now skipping and singing Hey ebo, ebo ebonettes.. :)
Although I was born in the 1960's I would go back to the 80's in a heartbeat if i could, it was by far the best decade ever for music and fashion, i had some of the best times of my entire life during the 80's and I've got some absolutely wonderful memories, lots of love from Carol in Nottingham UK xx ❤
Same here, a teenager in the 80's, what a time to be alive, and the summers went on for ever, i was born in 1967
Great stuff CAROL x
We had it so good
They all look so happy in this video, not like now.Superb performance.
Can't stop watching this as it cheers me up this song😀👍
I love to see this. I have the hand/eye coordination of the average grizzly bear and could never dream of doing this!
R. I. P., Malcolm. Thank you for this awesome song.
Absolute genius and these young ladies ? Impressive and everyone has a smile on their face !
This should be in the Olympics, so much skill involved.
Always loved the tune
And those girls have talent
Came here following the chain of Whip-Smart by Liz Phair. This is a brilliant piece from the now-dead era when we sought to embrace what unites us versus what separates us.
Thanks for this brilliant Song
The skill of these girls, goes perfectly with this song,a joyful video, excellent music and never tied of watching it,😊
I still have this single. Love it as much now as I did then.
Amazing song and the girls were so talented.
I was born in 1970 and going to primary at that time meant everyone took a skipping rope and someone always had a big rope so we could play skipping games at playtime. I still remember the skipping songs we sang. No wonder we were all so fit and slim. Xx Happy memories ❤❤
CLASSIC ❤❤❤❤❤
The 80s! when one was still young and carefree
The skill shown by these girls is absolutely amazing, I've watched and enjoyed the video many times. Thanks to Malcolm for bringing them to everyone's attention, never seen them featured anywhere else.
Awesome tune , i bet no one now can do what they did or even come close, unless its a computer game
Man thats good to watch--The 1980's when anything American was soooo cool. Go Girls!! :-)
They musta used a protestant church choir for the chorus. Sounds heavenly.
Happy to hear this again. Enjoyed even as a child
Saw Malcolm McLarens grave & death mask at Highgate Cemetery yesterday. Amazing place
The timing, the co-ordination, the energy, the talent - and not to mention the music!
Takes me back. Own it Girls !!! ❤
brilliant song and brilliant girls too
thanks for putting this up...... fantastic.....
Been 14 yrs old when I saw this the first time. German TV show called "Wetten Dass...". Absolutely impressing 😊👍
Wetten dass was a great show. I lived in Germany in the 90s and I remember watching it when they had blindfolded stamp enthusiasts guessing (correctly!) the country from tasting the glue on the backs of the stamps.
This is unreal, so talented. should be taught as a history lesson, get all the kids off their phones and out of the fake reality imposed on them by the enemies of fun
These were amazing at school uk we never hit that level found memories of this video
Wolf of Wallstreet, great selection of music. Positive vibe. Thanks for posting.
It's strange that all those girls are in their 50s now and Malcolm has passed on x
In 1983 this music nearly took us away from college in Umuahia now Abia State
This song makes me feel like I'm counting an extreme amount of money.
This was the second time I heard Afro riddims (the first time was 'Tantalize' by Jimmy The Hoover, also from the same year - '83). Can't skip for all the coffee in Kenya though......
Love this from long ago now x
Makes me remember 1983, going into high school.
I was a year from leaving Secondary School ✌️
I’m guessing Paul Simon heard this song in 1983 and went hmmmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
My thoughts too
Yup
As this wasn't a hit in the US, I'd say it's doubtful TBH
He definitely did...it inspired a lot of the tracks from Graceland...
You can call me Al 😂
I know I have seen this video before, but I never really noticed what was going on in it. I cannot imagine the amount of time it took for them to learn to do what they were doing. I wish I had the willpower to learn to do something like that. Sadly i feel my bones are a little too old now.
BLACK GURLS ARE BEAUTIFUL
All girls are beautiful
@@Jackie-ji2sj hell yes of all races to
🌷 🌷 🌷 ................ Fucking hell I love this song .............🌷 🌷 🌷
Malcolm Mclaren: a very under estimasted guy.
Ahahahahah
Tune makes me smile
wow I remember this! nice to hear it again :)
Came here after watching Pistol and remembering Malcolm Mcclaren for this song.
Brilliant
Real fit young ladies
I Was watching a Lauren jumps video and the rope noises instantly took me bcak here to that intro!
De bel souvenir d'enfance merci à vous
Burnley football club fans sing the ' um ba ba' bit on the terraces whilst bouncing up n down together.
Just played now on the BBC 2 by Trevor Horn
Mesmerising

Double Dutch
Saugeiles Lied ever für die Ewigkeit
Brilliant......... Eminem eat your heart out .
amazing crazy video i watch it in awe how do they do that
With two ropes ha ha ha ha ha ha ah ah not one !!!!!
love this song
Would love to know if they can still do this, considering it's been 32 years... :-O
I very much doubt it. It is called "Getting old"
That's not my name by the Ting Tings brought me here
Watch me. I can both skip and jump backwards through hoops whilst fully managing a three ring circus. SO BEAT THAT!
Great memories! Are the ladies skipping the same ones singing? Incredible talent and coordination! Happy days back then, thank you for posting.
Ah the 80s high schoolin n break dancing or trying too😂
I hate racism .love this its the total
Opposite of it .well done mm
ШИК!
they didn't have hd in the old days
This is brilliant boxing training....footwork...
Adapted from a traditional Sotho song
Presumably they were called the "Ebonettes" because they were an all-black troupe ?
You really had to ask that ffs 🤣😂🤣. 👽
Malteasers :)
Would love to know how the girls lives panned out .
R.I.P. MALCOLM MCLAREN
pretty sure these young ladies are from South Africa!
great track but no credit given to the South African band The Buyoyo Boys he ripped this track from!! ruclips.net/video/eAtuAqZVEaE/видео.html
And who did they take the melody from?
Ham n boiled eggs!!
Just because…
OO MAMA OVER SCHOOL HIGH GIRLS DO BAR BAR WE CAN FALL DOUBLE DUTCH DODO YOU CAN DO THE DOUBLE DUTCH DANCEDANCE SEE YOU CAN DO THE DOUBLE DUTCH DANCE SEE YOU CAN DO DOUBLE DUTCH DANCE DANCE SEE
McLaren was a bit of a dick, but this is still an amazing record, and a superb video.
Yeah, he was a bit of a chancer I believe, ole Talcy Malcy 😊
Where are they now?
I STILL can't figure as to why there is not a World Championship for this ( Double Dutching ) .
Or even an Olympic sport.
After all ~ BMX, skateboarding & scooters are 'official' sports now ...... !! 🤔🤔 🤨 🤬
whats Malcolm McLaren doing now ppl
He died in 2010, 64 years old.....
reailly no way thats bad
Not much, he's dead !
totsies
Were the Ebonettes a real troupe?
+Terry Mastriantonio Yes, from NYC.
This song brings back happy memories of playing this in the garden of my first house in London E13..Love it.😎
Yes
But!!!! Is that Jason Statham????!!!!!!!🤔
If just one of them misses a single step, the whole troupe goes arse over tit....Not to be mean, but that would be quite funny, actually >:D
He ripped off The Boyoyo Boys' 'Puleng"
Thanks for mentioning this. I never knew just listened to The Boyoyo Boys yes this is a rip off. But someone left a comment saying that they sued him and he paid them out of court. But still kept his name as songwriter. He's a disgrace.
E ebo ebo ebonettes! humbaba humbaba humbaba humbaba!
