I rented a 64 i20 1.2 petrol. The car is actually very comfortable to live with and the mpg figures are not hard to achieve. The only problem was the clutch was vague and you can never find where the nudge point and the bite point. Also the electrical steering had a mind of its own. I think this car will suit majority of the buyers.
Why everything has to be compared to Ford or VW? Specially VW have been letting out sub par crap for the last +20 yrs, yet they somehow keep being a reference to everything... The Hyundai is an amazing "little" car and washes the floor with VW/Ford in terms of reliabilty and looks (just look at that boxy Polo...)
