But then again, he posts daily (pretty much) with generally rly enjoyable content so rly they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
I've just bought a very nice used 2nd gen i20 and I love it, plenty of bang for buck and drives well. It doesn't have the greatest engine but it's quiet and economical. If the new one is an improvement then drivers a in for a treat. But for now I'll enjoy my previous generation i20 😊
I think it looks excellent both outside and inside. Also, don't forget it is a very reliable brand. Will definitely consider it if I was shopping for a new car. Currently driving a manual I10 (previous gen) and it is very good car. Recommended.

Not bad, except the rear design and interior. Bit dreary. But all cars have the grey or dark interior to give it the "premium" look. Can't expect customers to pay more when the manufacturer is cutting back. Anyway, good video👍🙂
I've been driving the top spec model as a courtesy car. It's a decent car to drive but the fuel economy is pretty disappointing considering it's a 1L petrol with a hybrid system. My 2012 Aygo gets 70-75mpg, driving in the same manner in the i20 returns around 55-60mpg. From the perspective of a hypermiler, the battery in this car feels more like a parasitic draw from the engine then anything else. The sailing mode is very unpredictable too so it's not like you can really use it to your advantage. I reckon it's a safety thing to stop stupid people having runaway acceleration downhill (it restarts and re-engages the engine if you gain speed while in sailing mode).
Hey Nicola, great review, I love what Hyundai have done with the exterior design of the new i20, striking, does remind me of the Seat Leon another car I love. The interior I think Hyundai could have done much better, all in all I don't mind. I can live with that. I have the previous i20 and the reason I bought it was practically, my previous Suzuki Swift 2014 model was a treat to drive, I loved it, but was somewhat lacking a big boot and the back sit was a bit cramped. Would love to try the new i20 and the N would be a treat. Who knows I may consider it as my next car.

I didn’t buy toyota b/c they were out stock and wanted me to wait like 6 months for it! I needed car right away so went to hyundai and got i20 instead. So no - you are not the only one …lol
I honestly prefer the older one, and the interior plastics are of much better quality than on this new one, the rear looks odd.... Keeping my 2018 I20 for years to come, 0 faults and got it cheap!

Yeah I'm not fond of the rear end, but I'm still considering it on the strength of my i10. When car reviewers were talking up the VW Up against the i10, I had access to an Up at work while I had an i10, and I really couldn't see why they were all raving about the driving fun in the Up; I genuinely preferred my i10 in all respects.
am i the only one who thinks the interior looks still dope for this priceclass? the new peugeot 208 costs like 5-6 thousand euros more (if the hyundai is 15.000 and the peugeot is 20.000€) so i think it‘s not fair to compare it
Euro cars often have better interiors, Asian cars otten have better long term reliability. The true value might not shine through until 20 years in to the future, when it's still working, long after the Euros have passed their used by date.
I have a 21 plate in grey and I love it except it does go through a lot of petrol, it’s a hybrid and I thought it would use a lot less than it does. am i doing something wrong? Anything I can do to help?
Just an engineering design thought... The hole sizes in the front grill seem glaringly huge. Not much protection to the vulnerable radiator behind it. Over-designed and messy on the outside, very under designed on the inside. What's with all those horrible chunky horizontal ridge mouldings? Humans like to be in a nice place Hyundai. The i20 isn't a nice place to spend a fair percentage of your life in.
Oh common, the interiors in the i20 aren’t that bad looking (though the quality isn’t as good as you might find in a vw polo). I think that interiors in a Renault Clio are a bit overdone. In contrast, interiors in the I20 are a lot more simplistic yet neat.
@@wynos0 anyway, to answer your question, I feel that the touchscreen on the Renault Clio is oversized, something that just doesn’t sit well with Clio’s compact dashboard. Also, the instrument cluster is more fancy and less easy to read
In this class the i20 stands out as being one of the more engaging models to drive. The Ford Fiesta is still the best in this regard, but we really enjoyed our time with the Hyundai.
wondering why you do your reviews on a Test Track and Not on Queens Highway ? It can’t be coz of C/19 coz Auto-trader / Harry’s Garage and few others (Not including CarWow as I find him Extremely Irritating) they test on Queens Highway.
Hi Hani, by shooting on a closed test track we're able to film several cars at a time without interruption. This helps with safety, and reduces sound from pedestrians or passing cars. It can be incredibly time consuming trying to find a spot that is free from distractions!
This has the ugliest and most miserable interior of any current car. This dashboard works much better in the Bayon for some reason. This was a great review of it, Nicola is a very good host
I have the previous model i20 ultimate....this latest model has no electric sunroof and no spare wheel like the one I'm currently driving.... I won't be buying this model with such poor spec options.....
Strange to say, but I don't look that much at the inside of my car. When I'm driving it, I'm preferably looking outside. When I'm not driving, I don't stay seated inside. The moment I really see the interior is when I'm cleaning it. And dark hard plastics are usually easy to clean and age well.
Honestly this is what appears if you waste one of three wishes on “a car”; it’s not going to set your world alight but if you wanted to just have a car to go places and take stuff . I don’t think it’s bad nor do I think it’s a good car., it’s just a lump of car. Hyundai makes one car I’d consider buying over a Ford, Mazda or Peugeot and you’ll know what that is. I would either go for a Fiesta or Mazda 2.

Lol, are you even based in Europe? Most of our cars (apart from bigger high end cars) are manual transmission. And I prefer it that way, cause the auto transmission on most average cars isn’t too good (until and unless it’s a BMW auto, which is simply amazing)
There’s hardly any power in these small cars as it is, strapping an auto box to a super mini will turn it into a small milk float. A manual is better for wringing all the power out. It’s also more fun to actually drive a car rather than be driven.

I would say that the biggest thorn in the I20 side is the Kia.
The Kia Rio is starting to feel a bit old now. The Clio, Fiesta and Polo remain the cars this i20 has to beat.
