I grew up in Birmingham whilst all those bands rose up. Bizarre but it just seemed normal, only now do I realise what an extraordinary time it was.

I too am a self taught drummer. In fact I credit Bev, as my first drum instuctor. Ifell in love with ELO, in the summer of '78, when I first heard "Turn To Stone" at 10 years old. By 1981, I had my kit, and started covering ELO first. I chased that "fat" snare sound for years. My 3 favorite drummers are Bev Bevan, Jeff Porcaro, and Phil Collins, in no order, as they're all #1 with me, for different reasons

I'm not surprised you chased that 'fat' sound for years; itwas a result of double tracking!

Hi, I'm a drummer too. I started playing drums in 1982, 40 years ago. (I am also a live sound engineer - F.O.H.).
Mr. Bev Bevan is my biggest, main and maximum influence, my idol since always.
I am a super crazy fan (and collector) of ELO (and related) since 1980, when I discovered Bevan and ELO.
The biggest dream of my life is to be able to meet Bevan sometime.
My way of playing drums is very similar to his because he has influenced me the most.
I really like to play like him, like his style.
I would give anything to be able to meet him and talk to him sometime. he is my idol.
Thank you for the interview. Greetings from Spain.

Can what happened to Bev happen in current times? I doubt it. Bands were made on the road, on the touring circuit. Do such circuits exist today? By comparison, hardly at all. GREAT interview by the way

Great to hear Bev Bevan talking about his career in music. I loved listening to Bev drumming in ELO, all the way back to the 1970s. :-) I have all the ELO albums from ELO 1 all through to Time and Discovery.

Ha....I was born in '63 & had an Uncle Dave as well 😜
Great interview > saw ELO twice > 1st time was The Classic Out of The Blue Tour & was fortunate to catch the Show on a night when the Spaceship worked (Oakland) ...wadda absolute Bucket List Show that was.
2nd time was yrs later sans Jeff > think it was called ELO Again > much smaller venue ...a Dinner Show up at Konachti Harbor about a 90 min drive North of Oakland > that too was a Stellar Show....but of course not the Bucket Lister Out of The Blue was.
Love hearing from Others in the Band....great stuff Gregg👍 > def subbed...guess the algorithm gods finally thought it was time for me find Your channel.
& Bev...if you're reading comments here ....thanks Brother for being a most influential part of my Formative yrs Soundtrack🙏 > Ageless music that has definitely stood the test of time.
