Its crazy how millions of people in the West and abroad are so interested in these conversations. I think its very positive; that many people in the world want to be genuinely good and understand our historical moral understandings can assist us with that. Modernity has brought us so much but it was built on things we have somewhat neglected
I'd say more in the West because a lot of us have lost sight of the things that are important in life. Living day in and day out almost on autopilot going nowhere. That's how I feel with my life, for sure.
@@chefboiardeeznutz9881 Well, maybe, but I try not to view the negative as degenerate. I spent a year living in Ecuador... there are things that go on in developing countries that lets just say were outlawed here in the 1860s. I've seen it with my own eyes.
I am of the opinion this type of information, in the past, was mainly reserved for the highly educated/priveleged classes of a country. That for most of history, the vast majority of people lived terrible, sad, depressing, anxious and overall poor lives. It is now finally being made available to the masses.
Here hear. I was born-and-raised in the West, but I'm in the East now, and in general I prefer the East now.
:3 I remember this. hehe. :3 The great Russell Brand! :3 Now ever more important, ever more popular! :3
A copy-and-paste from two messages I made some minutes ago in a Discord group chat:
I mostly just use Discord for business. Some people chat about non-gaming things in Discord, but it's mostly for gaming. I haven't been gaming much at all since I left the States.
I prefer mostly campaigns, offline. But even then, multiplayer, I play games online with chats built-in. I don't find much a reason for Discord other than sharing I guess images and videos and links. You can do voice and text chat in pretty much all online games.
Plus, there is a lot of ageism in Discord. Whereas the average gamer is older than 35 y/o. A lot of young kids think they own gaming, when their parents didn't even fuck yet, or their dad didn't donate sperm to a sperm bank yet, to even exist in the body they temporarily inhabit.
A lot of them think you're supposed to die inside after your 20s or something (go figure with how society general is, especially America these days getting worse and worse). Some say late 20s is too old for Discord.
I'm mostly here for the money. I also like to spread good information around, and some engage, but the average person I don't think cares. Some lurk, and I said that to some person who said to me that no one is reading your messages mf in Vitality server. Someone replied to him with wine emoji and crying laughing, and another said I am.
It's up to people to read it or not. Not everyone replies. Not everything in life needs a reply. Even if they don't necessarily agree with it now, they may look for that info later as the info settled in their subconscious.
A lot of these people, like a ton of Reddit users (very known for being a toxic platform), are hormonal teenagers who aren't too bright, have a lot of anger issues, and aren't that educated. That's just the reality.
Part of me knows Buddhism, Stoicism, and that it is what it is. They say in near-death experiences that we're shared consciousness, and to treat each other kindly.
Yeah, to some extent. But here on Earth, we have literal enemies, we have people ready to try to take you down. People who mock, drug addicts (legal or illegal), gangs, rapists, vegans and non-vegans, the Spanish Inquisition that forced Christianity on much of the world (making Christianity so large today), etc.
Like that clip of Rocky giving that motivational speech to his son, that Piers Morgan showed when doing that interview recently with Jordan Peterson (great interview by the way). Gotta keep on moving. Gotta realize that plenty are lazy, misery loves company, and if you're achieving better than the average person, you really are better than average. Average isn't a compliment, it's an insult. Why? Average person is doing pretty shitty, especially in America.
Someone tells you around the lines of, "Oh, you're just average.", um yeah, not a compliment. Lol. If society was so upheld in high standards, average would be a compliment, a good thing. I find what is average, and I pursue myself to be better than that. I'm definitely not perfect.
Everyone is capable of demonstrable acts. Even many of the Nazis weren't forced to stay around for hours, but plenty felt they were not patriotic if they left their men alone. A lot of them hated what they did, but got used to it, Jordan Peterson has said, and others have said. Supposedly 80% or so of Nazis didn't even know my people and the others were in camps.
Average means different things in different situations, but it's usually not much. Average isn't rich, and poor is the minority. No, it's the other way around. About 85% of people make less than $30/day the say. Hell to the fuck no. I'm not gonna be average, the majority. The average American is fat. Hell to the fuck no again, ain't going down like that.
The average person isn't vegan, the average person is religious, the average person follows puppet politics as if there's a choice and general good in it, and so forth. Average is an insult to the human species at this point. Liberal and Conservative are insulting words.
Liberal meant free, to breach conservative values, and progress. Now it means the opposite of liberal, censorship, mob mentality, etc. I had to just stop calling myself a Liberal. I felt like a fucking retard calling myself a Liberal.
I didn't go 180 degrees into the other retard yard, Conservatism, but just kept more towards the middle as I typically have been, Centrist.
I prefer being healthy, using my brain, thriving instead of just surviving financially, and not being dependent on corrupt government to live. That's very well opposite of being average. 💀
The only true form of freedom is through self limitation. It is not the privilege of choosing everything you want in your life, but rather, choosing what you will give up in your life. This is not only real freedom, this is the only freedom.Diversions come and go.Pleasure never lasts.Variety looses it's meaning. But you will always be able to choose what you are willing to sacrifice, what you are willing to give up.
Beautiful.
There's a balance which Peterson never seems to be able to address, possibly because he is an extremely unbalanced person. There's nothing wrong with pleasure and enjoyment alongside responsibility and diligence. If you don't have both aspects your life quickly becomes unbalanced.
One of the best comments i have ever read.
I’ll agree with one caveat… choosing what you sacrifice is a freedom right up until everything is taken away.
This is a great example of a mindful, meaningful conversation
this convo is amazing
I am actually fascinated by their discussion and the way they conversate. It's like a ping pong game, bothe say something, not too long, not too short, and the interruptions weren't deteriorating but more constructive and giving in this case. Much to learn hear from their behavior, respect and what they have to say.
I don't know what is with this conversation but every sentence sends me on a thought journey. I have listened to this clip 10 times and I'm at 1:38. The talk of sacrifice, journey, and the destination is a lot. The combination of these two people is so special to me.
Synchronicity

Tom Brady and divorce, and my response:
People shouldn't marry anyways. It's mostly ending in divorce, and it's a bad system in itself. I'm thankfully never married, and anti-marriage. Kinda giggle to all the divorces. In most cases people choose to marry.
A lot of American society (where I come from as plenty know) has a lot of individuals laughing at people who don't marry, or who get divorced. Funny thing is, most of them get a divorce. So then, who's laughing now. Lololol. Some people get multiple divorces. grinsweat_smilejoy_catskullskull Trump has had like 3 divorces.
You can tell they just marry him for the money, especially when his current wife gave faces and statements of discomfort in public appearances when he was puppet, I mean president.
The internet is a beautiful place, for it allows people to leave their small little bubbles of information and chatting. People get to explore new ideas, especially with social media. No longer are we subjected to paid for propagandaville on the TV, limited books or seeking banned books, and other limited ways of information.
Like when the Romans burned the most important library of them all, The Library of Alexandria. Also, the Spanish destroyed almost all information of the Philippines pre-Spanish.
its because the words are speaking to your soul rather than your mind. chase that spark within you & learn as much about it as you can
2 people that can vocalize what I think.
Thats exactly why they're each gaining such a following. They both have this uncanny ability to vocalize the things everyone knows deep down but is unable to articulate. It reaffirms and solidifies peoples foundation.

What a wonderful world, a world where Jordan and Russell are intellectual equals and polite sparing partners. Thank you both for carrying this important message!
The thing I have exactly been thinking about. I am as much impressed by the way they do conduct the conversation and what they have to say through that conversation. Top thing to learn from here.
Russell is far more intelligent than Jordan
@@suburbanindie oof. XD
Thankyou Russell and Jordan for sharing your wee insightfull discussion.💜
I’ve sacrificed practically everything but am living as Job; however, despite this I know that mitigated immense suffering is better than non-mitigated hell. Lest we all at some point touch the grave in our sorrow and dwell in its decay.
I gained 35lbs in muscle in 3months, started working at a law firm, moved into a skyscraper on my own, started at a top university and did whatever it took to better who am as a person. I did this all in less than a year. Despite this I have lost much of family to sudden death or terminal illness. Others nearly dying. I received chronic physical health problems that should cripple me if it isn’t for will. I’ve been rejected constantly and despite all of it still can’t achieve my main goal of a relationship. However had I done none of what I did, my family would have kept dying, illnesses still inflicting, and I wrecked in lowly state of meekness.
I say this not for pitty’s sake, but to demonstrate that sometimes the best of the worst lot is the only option and that this is certainly preferable to that of pure hell. Noting that hell is made in the image of man’s fallenness, and what is man’s fallenness but a placation of responsibility in favor of self-destructive malevolence?
Humans cant gain 35lbs of muscle in 3 months
😂 and you call it (I sacrificed everything) don't make me laugh
I wish you the best in the utterly corrupted universities, but from what you've written it seems you've chosen right. There's no perfect options, but we get to good (and better) by seeking the best paths we individually can at the time. I'm sorry to hear about your family and those near you as well.
@@sirellyn thank you. I have been navigating my classes carefully there is certainly a lot of Marxist propaganda everywhere. I appreciate the advice and thank you tremendously for the condolences
That is very difficult, I prayed for you. Looking backwards, I found there is a hidden gift in pain and suffering which is perhaps the greatest of all, the opportunity to expand your soul in love, peace, and joy which surpass all understanding. When we allow that to wash over us, and continue in our love, we remain, not as we were but as something entirely new, reborn. God bless you
I love those 2 I would love to see a trio with Wim Hof, but Jordan Peterson is such a goldmine for getting sufficient in life. Not many celebrities can be a positive influence in young people's lifes.
I am so glad that I found you 3 years ago Jordan Peterson, because the mindset you provide gives reasons to live your life to your full potential even if you are suffering. Thank you so much👍
trio with Tate would be something
Well - Jordan always was a psychological and teacher first - he got famous later.
Russell Brand is a very intelligent/articulate person, underrated in my opinion.
I would love to see these two talk again and hopefully soon.
Screen shot this straight away. Will be listening to this over and over again. Amazing
You can also safe it to watch later
I miss this era of Peterson.. these kind of conversations are why I fell so in love with him to begin with.
How has he changed ?
Just beautiful! Great conversation to enlight all of us.

The last 30 seconds of this was just great. Truth bomb after truth bomb.
How these names suddenly showed on my phone I DO not know. It's been good to hear the videos I have found and to read the responses. This is not the sort of thing I am ready for right now but I have seriously missed the talk my family and classroom engaged in. Good to see all your names again. Poking my head in on occasion will be nice.

This type of discourse. Good for you 🤍
I love these two!!
It’s true. All of it. Ones person reach mature age he/she is able to understand the dialog. Mature person lived trough all that. He/she knows from experience it is all true.
By the way, my view of the world, how it came to be and how mankind behaves in it has changed a great deal so the videos clinked a few cogs. Have a blessed rest of the week.
Best person on Earth.
For those who don't know. RB is talking about the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
I didn't understood the end of the conversation, like what to do do with the things that are regrettable?
I learnt to carry my mistakes with me to remind me of my weaknesses, but I agree with mister Peterson that it is hard to stay lowing towards one self that way
I think the way forward is to accept your mistakes and focus on understanding the lessons they gave you as much as possible, and then let them go. Instead of carrying the weakness around with you, you can grow from your weakness and become better. Read lots of books and build new habits
russel brand is a legend

Russel and Jordan are 2 people we look up to thr most. Both idols
„Fourthly, I believe in Islam as it does not seek to crush my natural desires but guides them along right channels. It does not, by altogether crushing my desires, reduce me to a stone; nor does it, by leaving them uncontrolled and unrestrained, reduce me to an animal, but, like an expert irrigation engineer who harnesses uncontrolled waters and makes them run into irrigation channels, thereby bringing prosperity to waste areas, it converts my natural desires by proper control and guidance into high moral qualities.”
It does not say to me: God has given you a loving heart but forbids you to select a life companion, or that He has endowed you with the sense of taste and the capacity to appreciate good food, but has forbidden you to eat such food. On the contrary, it teaches me to love in a pure and proper way which would ensure through my progeny the perpetuation of all my good resolves. It permits me to use good food, but within proper limits, lest I should eat my fill and my neighbor should go hungry. By thus converting my natural desires into high moral qualities, it satisfies my humanity.“

To this day I still don’t know why I have never heard Jordan use the word schadenfreude which is the opposite of the deadly sin of envy and actually worse
Taking pleasure in the misery of others is a straight line into Sadism. (Ie: feeling or being actually sadistic)
The feeling is very human if understood, yet very dangerous if indulged in.
Envy or Jealousy is not exactly required for one to feel that way. Sadism is a vestigial tail of the human evolution process. Sadly.
We really are still monkeys. Smart monkeys, yet monkeys nonetheless.

i agree too much of anything blocks enlightenment and focus
Most people don't understand the nuances of the seven deadly sins. Lust has just as much to do with self indulgence as it does anything else not to mention perfectionism. Greed has just as much to do with narcissism as anything else. Wrath has nuances of dominance and superiority in my opinion. Gluttony has a lot to do with chasing self centered ambition that only serves yourself.

Jordan sacrificed his actual experience and love for his parents and himself.
He did so because his parents were not offering their children a relationship with human beings. Jordan had to lie as part of a strategy to avoid reminding his parents of the actual human experiences and love that Jordan's parents were deprived of with their parents.
Jordan became a reaction to Walt's reaction to his father.
Jordan's ego (as an authentic mediator between the self/observer and meanings) died and was reborn many times as decisions to identify as meanings, thereby splitting Jordan's mind into an identity and shadow. Its purpose is to rescue his father, Walt, from responsibility. As Jordan's identity developed, its purpose became more sophisticated; it would have to absolve of responsibility, the coercive collective force of authority and abuse of power that had created it. And that had created his father's and mother's (dysfunctional) identities.
Jordan felt he had to suppress a boy's natural experience of his father into a shadow. Because when Walt saw a boy's natural experience in his son that he did not have with his father, he felt unbearably emotionally overwhelmed and triggered into a rage. Jordan had to create an identity that would behave in a way that would not trigger Walt's internal and unintegrated conflict with Walt's severely emotionally dysfunctional father.
Subsequent to this process of introjection and codependency, Jordan's identity feels emotionally compelled to hide and change the past. Jordan's identity hides and changes the past to make its misinterpretations and false dichotomies appear to be proper and superior. The strategies of Jordan's identity have to appear superior to the actual experiences and primary emotional feedback that he "sacrificed" and is in actuality, suppressing and repressing into a shadow.
Where did this story come from? I have heard a little about his father but can't remember this part.
@@yomomma4261 this is a description put into story form that puts together Jordan's persistent and recurring actual discourse and the cause of his discourse.

Some don’t want to move forward. They’re obsessed with revenge and holding others back, so maybe they FEEL they can move forward. This will fail.
you have linked the wrong episode in your description
Link to original video is wrong.
The link in the description box that says to listen to the full conversation.... links to a conversation with andrew schulz, another good person to have a conversation with... but not the conversation I was expecting...
I want to also see Jordan Peterson with Sadhguru.
Woah!!! This would be EPIC!!!
Alcohol. Its only been 2 months and I'm doing more overtime, making more money being better at my job and working out regularly again. Not to bore, just to share :)
Good for you bro. For real. That is incredibly respectable and gives me some hope.
I am considering trying to heavily reduce my consumption of all vices. I am currently failing at the moment yet I still think I perhaps have a bit more strength I have not yet tapped into.
I am managing myself temporarily, as a drug councilor would probably say.
@@py_a_thon I've been there as well, I wish you all the best because the truth is I had no idea how bad a behavioral spiral I was in with drugs, alcohol and negative friends. At the time I just considered it edgy fun... Looking back I can't believe how much it wasn't the real me and it extremely dangerous and could have ended tragically. You definitely have the strength. Distraction, and something passive to look forward to... That was my way out.
@@jamesgilmartin8485 Behaviourally, I think I am as alright as I can be at the moment. The physical toll of smoking and drinking is what concerns me.
My life has fallen out of balance very heavily. I am self medicating my depression, anxiety and past traumas. That cannot continue forever. This is a temporary solution.
Thank you though for your time and setting a form of an example that perhaps I am ready to follow.
@@py_a_thon Great to hear! All the best on the journey. It's the best decision you'll make. Be the guy that made it out the other side 👊 No better feeling!
@@jamesgilmartin8485 I just wish a few of my friends were still alive. Alcohol did not kill them though. They got messed up by the war on drugs and opiate crisis.
They say everyone dies twice. And the last moment is when no one ever thinks about you again. My friends from the past still travel with me. They have not died twice.
audio delay?
What are these 7 steps that they are talking about?

If we could renounce our sageness and discard our wisdom, it would be better for the people a hundredfold. If we could renounce our benevolence and discard our righteousness, the people would again become filial and kindly. If we could renounce our artful contrivances and discard our (scheming for) gain, there would be no thieves nor robbers.
Those three methods (of government) Thought olden ways in elegance did fail And made these names their want of worth to veil;
But simple views, and courses plain and true
Would selfish ends and many lusts eschew.
Wrong interview in the link.
Dr. Peterson, the link on this video goes to Andrew Schulz's interview and not @RusselBrand!
Link in comments is wrong
You linked to Schulz
Attachment implies the need to remain where you are. Transformation implies the need to move. The conflict is between moving and not moving. You cannot transform if you remain attached to what gives you comfort or security. A seed cannot remain attached to being a seed otherwise it will not transform - it must risk getting eaten, trodden upon and exposed to the harsh environment to propagate itself. But guess what? the seed flourishes and produces more of the same kind in tremendous abundance.
I find it hard to take Russel seriously with shirts like that.
wrong "full conversation" link guys! it's linked to the Andrew Schulz episode
Here's the RIGHT ONE: ruclips.net/video/r2S58rH0PAw/видео.html
Love how Russell's video here DOES NOT start with dam RUclips ads for marketing to brain dead consumers. Charlatans!
