It's very minor, but I appreciate listing the animals' names and conservation status when introducing them. It puts into perspective which ones need the most help.
It is not at all minor, it may be mentally instilled to be that, but it is most important to know, that's why it rolls off so naturally when described by mouth. It paints the mental picture to truly appreciate the standings of the animal and humans stance with them
I love these longer videos, and it's great to see that there are some parts of the world where rainforest cover is actually increasing. The ecosystems animals live in are just as fascinating and important as the animals themselves, and Costa Rica's ecosystem is one of this planet's most diverse and beautiful. Thank you so much for making this.
I saw one Tapir at a Zoo in Playa del Carmen about a month ago, the thing was just chilling, sitting under the shadow of a tree but I’d never imagined how colossal they actually are, they are gigantic, and definitely an animal you wouldn’t want to piss off
Being a Costa Rican Or "Tico" as we would say, it made me tear up at the end because we do have such a beautiful country and that there is still some hope in this world.
So cool! South America has many fantastic species. Our crew managed to film also some curious species in detail, like the leafcutter ants that harvest plants but not for eating or the brave giant otters that are fearless of jaguars or sloths and their dependence on moths!
Not to date myself, but, when I was a kid, my favorite wild life show was Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Animalogic reminds me of that show. Animalogic definitely shows a wide variety of animals, and plants, from all over the world. Danielle and her crew are amazing.
FINALLY TAPIRS GET SOME RECOGNITION! Also imo but reintroduction of Tapirs, Margays, and Jaguarundis to Temperate and subtropical North America (Socal,South Florida, and the Southeast) would be awesome!
I honestly didn't know you were doing long-form content. I love this so much and would *love* to see more of it. The enthusiasm and geeky passion you guys have for life and nature is just infectious and heartwarming.
Omg I didn't know you were making a video about my country, this is so cool. I have followed your channel for so long HAHA, this video is just great, I love the music you chose and it genuinely shows the praise you have for nature. Thank you so much for this, I can't wait to see more of this type of videos for other countries.
Awesome video! I love the longer form. It's also great to hear stories of where environmental efforts are succeeding and making an impact. While it is important to hear about life in danger, it can often feel hopeless, so mixing in videos about what habitats and areas are actually getting better is powerful.
I thought this was going to be about tapirs, and was very confused and irritated that after 4 minutes, the video switched randomly to a completely unrelated animal, and continued to do that every few minutes. I had to look at the comments and restart the video to realize that the actual topic was animals of Costa Rica. That's a great topic. You could have made a title that makes it clear what the topic is. Please, rename this to something like "Amazing Animals of Costa Rica", and then make another video called "Tapirs Are Straight Out Of The Ice Age" that spends 10~30 minutes on tapirs and their fascinating ability to survive through massive climate change.
Personally, I'd like to see more reforestation efforts. That may be partly due to the fact that I've lived near forests almost all of my life, but there are ecological benefits regardless.
A lovely video from the Animalogic team, and Danielle's joy and love is evident. Watching this I couldn't help but wish we could decolonise Costa Rica, remove all signs of human habitation as best as we can and leave it to the animals.
This land, the land of my country, belongs to indigenous people first and foremost. We can't just "remove all signs of human habitation" without further pushing indigenous people out, if that were even possible
Came here for the tapirs, and learned more about literally everything else. You should just call this episode "Animals of Central America." Each animal deserves it's own episode.
I absolutely loved this video. This was truly a wonderful journey through Costa Rica seeing all the wonderful animals and reptiles. My only problem with this video was that it was hard to enjoy it with ads popping up every two minutes. It really takes away from the beauty of the video, but I know that’s nothing you can control. I wish RUclips would tone it down a little bit with ads. I hope to see more videos like this one where you explore countries
they actually can choose to manually select where ads play, or to let youtube do it automatically. that’s why with some creators like jaime french you’ll see them say something like “it’s time to take a break” and then an ad will play right after. it’s just obviously less revenue when you have less ads
Haa! 16:46 Look how oddly cute those little guys are, they remind me of when in the old Daffy Duck cartoons he would slick his hair(feathers) back to look suave and they would have little curls at the ends kinda like these birds here. 😆👍
I've seen some Tapirs around north paraná river eating some mangoes, very beautiful, but the farmer owner of the region told us not to mess with them, despite looking harmless they are quite aggressive, and he also warned us if we try to shoot them or any other native fauna he would shoot us back, lol, talk about communal conservationism, that guy was cool though, we made a bbq in his farm after fishing later at the night
Tapirs were featured in the film "2001: A Space Odyssey" in the opening sequence where hominids learn from the Monolith. They fit right into those scenes of ancient life.
Danielle Dufault has one of the most beautiful speaking voices I've heard. Though stylistically distinct, I'd say she's on par with Bettany Hughes as far as voices I want to hear while learning.
Okay, I was wondering why most of the video felt like déjà vu, because it's actually the 4 "Animalogic Wild" videos from 2019 condensed into 30 minutes (not even sure there's new info). I had watched 3 of them recently, so it's kinda nice to see the 4th now, but could've been more transparent about it by listing the originals in the description (after the "flashback to 2018" line).
blue sided and red eyed tree frogs have a bit misleading names, as they technically are not tree frogs. they are leaf frogs. the difference is that tree frogs hop when they move normally (not while fleeing) and leaf frogs walk.
I read a story once, of a man who was stuck in the jungles in South America.. He saw a Tapir, & it wasnt just a plant eater.. The man Henry watched the animal take & chew poisonous leaves, or a type of neuro toxin that created paralysis amoung the fish in the pond, where the Tapir would then come grab the fish & take them to shore & eat. It was my favorite books, I cannot remember if is was in “Papillon” or his sequel “Banco” by Henry Chereirre (misspelled last name)
That was a great little documentary and I loved the shoutout to the conservation and animal rescue work being done in the area. Have you ever considered doing a collaboration with Lindsay Nikole? Both your work and hers have been great resources for understanding the natural world.
Hope u guys were careful down there. About 30yrs ago some genetically modifying animals escaped an island chain off the coast of Costa Rica and fled into the jungle.
Danielle: “Monkeys are the only ones who find safety of the treetops,” Me: “Ohmygod tapirs??” Danielle: “The Tamandua!” Me: “Oh no yeah that makes more sense I guess”
Wow im always so surprised when a favorite channel of mine comes and makes content about Costa Rica. I hope you guys enjoyed your visit and thank you for promoting Corcovado. As with everything, Costa Rica’s conservation has its issues (particularly in Corcovado issues with mining, drug trafficking routes and lack of national park staffing) but it is worth copying. Also it is worth paying for the knowledgeable guide who can guide and protect you from unnecessary dangers, which contributes to the local tourism -instead of coming to a resort and never going outside of it.
I really like this longer video format about a given location, but I hope they have more descriptive titles. Tapirs are cool but I would've clicked on it sooner if I knew it was about many animals. It also makes it a bit confusing since I kept expecting it to go back to tapirs, but it was not about tapirs any more than the other animals shown.
you can watch Malaysiaan tapir. we the only one that have tapir in Asia. nobody know now they got here. some people speculating, we Malay people use to be sea fairer became part of Polynesian who use boat to seafaring around the world. we might arrived there long before Magellan
I enjoyed this video but I hoped for more about tapirs, like their ecology and what they eat, impact on the environment and what processes counteract that, and the evolution of tapirs and their place in the perisodactyl family
It's quite misleading, that the focus in the Titel is so much on Tapirs - when you actually share so much more wonderful animals!! More people should see that and hopefully get inspired to go the same way with nature as the people of Costa Rica
In Foz do Iguaçu National Park, in Brazil, the Coatimundis (Quatis) are VERY bold, walking between the tourists without worry, and snatching bags from unsuspecting people in search of snacks. Some may even become defensive if threatened, and bite or scratch leading to bad injuries.
Its also a place where you come across higly poisonous snakes just lurking at branches near to the path. 🥶 I could see for myself one year ago. The world of birds over in Costa Rica is unparalled and just amazing...
Most important thing I learned about tapirs from my zoo visit, stay at least 20 feet back from their back end. Cause they piss like a literal fire hydrant! 😂
It's very minor, but I appreciate listing the animals' names and conservation status when introducing them. It puts into perspective which ones need the most help.

This ecosystem really is incredible. The amount of animals and plants it houses is unsurpassed. It's great to see places like this preserved.
They've been doing this for 3 decades by now - even Michael Crichton mentioned their efforts back in the original Jurassic Park-novels.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
😄👍
A 30 minuet video is such a treat! I'd love some more of this long form content

Reforest your own property. No lawns.
@Chaos89P - One of the benefits of healthy forests is improved air quality. They remove CO2 from the air and give off oxygen.
