Absolutely Spiffing!! I can't explain how much I absolutely love this hour long video! Certainly one of my all time favourites, I specially like seeing the Old Regimental Bands of the Scottish Division. Who are no longer a thing, sadly! I became interested in the Royal Highland Fusiliers a few years ago, and tried looking for videos of their Regimental Band, but only was able to find their Pipes & Drums. I was specially happy when I saw the Band featured quite a few times in this video, and even by itself in the beginning parts of the video!
So much LEVENDIA (Gr. for "Valiance" - The accentuation in that word, goes to the last "A" by the way)! It's always so nice to see this into our fard distand cousins, the Scotish! Our eternal love from old cousin Greece!
Awesome video, thanks for posting! Just a note for anyone following along with the track listings, the first tune in the third set (6 min mark) is called the Earl of Mansfield, not Hot Punch. Also, in part 7, they play a tune called Atholl Highlanders at 36:55 between (a) Glendaruel Highlanders and (b) Skye Boat Song.
Thanks so much for this! It has been impossible to find!! I grew up with the VHS of this, and have such fond memories of watching it with my grandmother.
At 28:07 is a legendary screwup that DM Norm Mackenzie of the Toronto Scottish could never live down. As senior drum major of the Canadian contingent he was out front and center, and completely out of step. If you watch closely you can see DM Fullerton of the 48th Highlanders yelling at him he's out of step and Mackenzie correcting himself, took him down a peg or two....
Thanks for the share. Love it. Only one mistake from 40:18 to 42:18 in the title. It's not Hiellan laddie (2/4 march), but a set called "Scottish soldier" including Green hills of Tyrol, When battle is o'er, Lochanside (3/4 marches)
That tune titled Heilan Laddie is actually The Green hills .then Battles o"er and Lochanside . Heilan laddie is the tune played just before Black bear.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on kaldrostream. Have been streaming with my gf for the last few weeks =)
At 40:00, it's not "Hielan laddie" but "The flowers of the forest" and at 41:10 "The battle is over", followed by "Lochanside". These retreats are very often palyed together.
You are right "Hielan Laddie" is wrong but as we hear it, it is "Green Hills of Tyrol" (at 40:00) followed by "When the Battle is o'er" and then "Black Bear" - or are we totally wrong ;-)

Not a very smart thing to say on a video about the British army. We are Scottish and British and fought for our country so go fuck off and post this somewhere else.
Nice to hear the band playing narration free!!
Nothing but the pipes and drums playing uninterrupted!!Thank You!

To be fair, that transition was kind of wonky lol

Thank you so much. Wish I had discovered this type of music a lot sooner.
lunicola80 very beautiful song, the pipe band I’m in plays this song in a set with, dearing young charms, Irish eyes and the wild Rover
Does anyone know the name of the 6/8 March that starts at 5:21?? I’m 40 now and have been looking for that tune since I was 12!! Thanks for any help!
